William Buhlman

During my life, I have had several spontaneous out of body experiences, many instances of sleep paralysis and vibratory sensations, and have often been “out of phase” with my body. Much of this has been very frightening to me, especially when I was a little child. As an adult I have worked to overcome this fear and this has resulted in a number of experiences in which I communicated with other non-physical beings. Please see: Bee Message for an example. But I could not initiate these experiences at will and I could not lose all fear, although going to the Monroe Institute has aided me greatly in my pursuit. I have been given access to others with similar experiences and techniques to lessen my apprehension.

So, of course, when I became aware that author William Buhlman was facilitating an Out of Body Intensive Workshop at TMI I knew I wanted to attend. I had read his two books Adventures Beyond the Body  and  The Secret of the Soul, both of which I recommend. So I attempted to reserve a space in the workshop, but alas, it was sold out with a waiting list. I was not to be deterred. I put myself on that list and took the ultimate leap of faith: I made non-refundable travel reservations. Then I visualized being a part of the group until <BINGO>a space opened up.

The other attendees were a very select group, but self selected. They were experiencers at various levels, some having had full-blown OBEs others having only been out of phase with their physical bodies and wondering what could possibly be going on. For forty years Bill Buhlman has been traveling out of body volitionally as opposed to spontaneously and practices everyday, but not every day yields an OBE. He gave us many techniques to generate OBEs that we practiced with great fervor in up to five sessions per day of approximately 45 minutes each. I experienced less fear during these sessions because I was intentionally moving my etheric or light body rather than having an experience by surprise.

Although Buhlman has constructed a sort of cosmology for himself based upon his many exploits out of body, he emphasized that we should not buy into the belief systems of others (even him) since with a bit of practice we could obtain direct experience. He believes that this direct experience will benefit us when our physical body dies and we are faced with choices.

For me the real sticking point is the point of individuation. Great sages have said we are all one. We are one with other humans, animals, plants, Earth and everything in the Universe. When we are out of body, travelling to other levels of being and consciousness how do we know if a being we meet is part of our higher self or in fact another entity still individuated on that level of consciousness? Buhlman says to create an intention in the form of a fairly strong demand and repeat it mentally if it does not become immediately clear. I used this strong repeated intention during one practice session to be able to see my etheric surroundings more clearly and to move up a level astrally. It worked!

How do you feel about your intelligence? Do you think you are smart? Or do you believe that though you’ll never master the Calculus you are the possessor of lots of common sense, which in the end may be much more valuable? Or perhaps you believe that had some failed subject been properly taught to you, you would now be the master of it. It is my observation that most people believe that they are clever in some ways that matter most. I guess in general that is a good thing especially for self esteem and thus, well-being.

Howard Gardener, a American developmental psychologist, identified eight distinct kinds of intelligence in the 1980s. A friend of mine is always remarking about some other person’s lack of emotional intelligence, believing himself to be the master of emotional intelligence (he is not). I suspect that there is something valuable to be learned from this theory of multiple intelligences. One can certainly take pride in one’s specific brand of intelligence.

But have you ever met someone who was so much smarter than you that it was staggering?

That may be what would happen if you ever encountered an extraterrestrial or inter-dimensional being. By extraterrestrial I mean a being that has traveled from somewhere in the cosmos to visit Earth, not a slime mold (or the like) that is discovered by the Mars Rover to exist in a cave on Mars (though perhaps the said slime mold is all super brain and is controlling us remotely [just kidding, I think]). These beings might have other types of intelligence or skills that are either unimaginable or uncommon in humans. Telepathy may be the rule with some of these beings rather than the exception, shape shifting might be an everyday occurrence rather than the stuff of fables. They may extract our spirits from our bodies, causing an out of body experience (OOBE), by using our natural physiological state of sleep paralysis.

(Please note in this piece the careful use of “may” rather than “is”. I am hypothesizing here, exploring the possibilities.)

The question here is what effect would the vastly superior intelligence have on human culture? We are speaking here of a greater, more multifaceted intelligence, not simply of a technological superiority.

Look what can happen when a less technological advanced human society meets a more technologically advanced human society: cargo cults (One would be well advised to read this article about cargo cults in the South Pacific to see what astonishingly untrue conclusions the human mind can come to due to exposure to simply more technologically advanced humans). Thusly I conclude that everything humans theorize about ETs and interdimensionals may be stunningly offbase including everything I’ve written in this blog piece. 🙂

Researchers looking for evidence that ETs visited the Earth in the historical past point to stories of Gods, Goddesses, Angels and the Elohim as possible visitations by ETs or interdimensionals. That may be, but as of now I can think of no conclusive way to prove these ideas with any certainty, so they remain the stuff of conjecture. Speaking of which, my small mind cannot think of any reason that Angels, for instance, could not be defined as interdimensional beings in or outside of religion.

Do we create, that is manifest these beings with our collective consciousness (or subconscious group mind) or do these beings manifest us with their super minds? Or is there any difference between the two, if in fact we are all One?

Update: 07/08/10 Synchronisticly on the same day I published this post, another article Communicating With The Universe

was published about blasting the contents of the internet into space. NASA apparently is not taking seriously Stephen Hawking’s admonition about the inadvisability of advertising Earth culture to aliens (lest we become slaves or luncheon meat).

Whitley Strieber has an interesting take on the subject of alien intelligence: http://www.unknowncountry.com/journal/?id=416

Update: 01/29/13 Science, specifically the relatively new science of exobiology, has been taking the idea of alien intelligence more seriously. See: Inside the Extraterrestrial Mind

On Saturday morning, 10/04/08 sometime between 5:30 & 6 a.m. I had a very unusual experience.

I need to preface my account with a little of my history. As a child I had a great deal of fear of sleeping alone due to the experiences I had with so called “sleep paralysis” and the concurrent feeling that there was another being in my room forcing me out of body. I’d have a horribly intense vibratory sensation in my head often centering around my upper lip and nose. I would fight hard to be able to break out of this paralysis and not to be taken out of body.

A few years ago I read Journeys Out of Body and I knew first hand what Robert Monroe was speaking of. As an adult I had fewer of these experiences and since attending the Monroe Institute much less fear of them.
I was awake last night due to sound from upstairs above me starting at 4 a.m. I had a ocean wave noise playing quietly on a small machine nearby. This is a normal practice for me.

Suddenly my face and then my whole body started to vibrate. I was pulled up out of my body and started flying. Wow! It was exhilarating. My mind was totally awake but my body was asleep on the bed. I flew through the night sky which was the slightest predawn grey over land and trees, slowing down over an upscale tasteful exurban neighborhood with older trees and solid architecture.

I seemed to slow down a bit as I could clearly see a few of the well kept homes. And then things got totally strange. I heard a distinct voice speaking into my right ear. It was outside of me. It was not a voice in my head. The sound of this voice was clearly female and it had a mechanical, alien or insectoid quality that was alarming. This is the communication as I remember it: (You should be) “watching what happens to (is happening to) the bees, as it will also happen to” (you) (the human race).

The words in quotes I clearly remember, the ones in parentheses are what I believe I heard. Hearing the voice struck me with overwhelming terror, it was so unexpected, that I quick as lightening drew back into body and fought the sleep paralysis for control of my body, which I regained. I then continued to fight against the vibration for sometime. When I got up at 8 a.m. I was ashamed of myself for lack of courage but it was a gut response, over which I had little, if any, control.

My guess is that the voice could have been a deva (oversoul) of the bees (read super Queen Bee), but that is only a guess.

I now feel compelled to share this message. I submitted it to the Anderson dream site though I was fully conscious when it happened.

I don’t know exactly what the message means, but as far as what is happening to the bees on Earth- they are dying due to “Colony Collapse Disorder“. The cause could be a chemical Monsanto produces which is used agriculturally. I’m not sure, but the outcome would be far worse than the current economic failure, which is plenty bad enough in itself. The outcome of no bees is no food, because the bees pollinate our crops. No food would mean mass starvation. I don’t need to connect any more dots.

A Native American friend of mine had another explanation:
“If you watch the bees, each one, whether worker or queen or other, thinks nothing of itself, but only of others, of its community, being purely of service to others. In this way, but not for any selfish reason, each individual bee is taken care of. See? Each bee is taken care of by virtue of not caring for him/herself AT ALL (complete selflessness), but by caring only for the others. The humans will soon experience this when the society that they currently live under (and have been living under for thousands of years – an heirarchical society, with pyramidal religions, pyramidal economies [corporations, etc.], pyramidal governments, etcetera) collapses completely (look at not later than early 2015). Out of the ashes will truly rise the Phoenix. Peace and Love. Onenkiwahi!”

Me I’m open to your thoughts. Google “Colony Collapse Disorder” if you are not familiar with it.
Peace out…
