I dreamt of you

And awoke to discover that you had died.

I looked all over to find your photograph

In boxes of yesterday’s memories

It was not necessary

Because your image is burnt into my heart.

A woman I know had a long term relationship with a man that lasted on some level in excess of thirty five years. They met when they were both in their early twenties and fell in love at first sight. When they saw each other the first time both of their hearts felt like they had fallen through their stomachs and onto the floor where they became inexorably bound for years to come. At the time the woman was in a relationship. The new man wanted to marry the woman but she did not trust the intensity of their feelings and wondered if it was some form of insanity. Their passion for one another was unquenchable.  The man’s behavior was very strange almost from the start. He spent much of his free time alone in his apartment and did not go out. He had problems with addiction and as years wore on he no longer wanted to marry the woman. He only wanted to stay alone at home and get high. He had few if any friends. The woman felt horrible and heartbroken. No one ever knew how the man felt because he confided in no one at all. The woman always knew when the man was calling her on the phone. Even before caller ID and after it when his number was listed as “unknown”, she’d simply answer the phone addressing him by his name, even if she hadn’t seen him for months or later, for years. When the woman eventually married a different person the man moved far away but continued to call the woman at regular intervals entreating her to visit him, offering her the airfare and great food. They made a pact after he moved to be sure that if something happened to one of them, the other would be notified. But they were both in good health and didn’t worry.  The woman did not answer one of the man’s emails because she was offended by something he had written. She did not hear from him for a year and when she did, she was embarrassed to see that he had written her something of a love letter. She didn’t know how to respond because all she could think was “too little, much too late”. She answered in a pleasant but noncommittal manner and when he wrote back again in a passionate manner she did not answer at all, because she was a wife and a mother and he had had his chance before and had continually disappointed her. About two years passed and the woman had a disturbing phenomena happen more than once. She would be lying in her bed alone in the liminal state when she would feel a large body lying next to her. She could feel/hear the body breathing. Terrified, she’d rouse herself to find no one there. Then one night she had a lucid dream in which she was with the man again. It broke off abruptly. She awoke and went straight to her computer and searched the man’s name. The breath was knocked from her gut when she saw that he had died on her birthday . Her heart hurt but no tears came forth. After much searching and pleading she discovered the cause of his death, but in her heart she knew he died of self imposed loneliness and much too young. Then she had another dream in which they were together and he spoke of the oneness of consciousness wherein they would always abide.  She wants to believe that this is true and that it was really him in her dream but worries that it is all an elaborate fantasy. Now occasionally she dreams of an apartment in Secaucus NJ where she’s never been except in dreams, where they have inexplicably met for years only in dreams, though neither of them ever lived there. And he kisses her softly on the lips before he dematerializes.

The Sagaponick House by Paul Georges

The veil has been very thin of late.

A little over a week ago I was wondering mightily about whether those no longer on Earth plane could influence the lives of those still here. I was not thinking of those who had not moved on (ghosts), but more about anyone on the other side sending good or bad or indifferent events into one’s life.
I decided to write to Basil Bristow an accomplished channeler, who currently channels a very helpful being named Pretorius asking him my question and received an constructivel answer but one more to do with those souls who are misfortunately stuck between worlds.
Last week a few days later (Tuesday) after sending my request to Basil, I had occasion to talk with two other people about some of my experiences in Bridgehampton and Sagaponick, adjoining communities on the Eastern tip of Long Island. These conversations did not involve the afterlife except in that some of the people I remarked upon are no longer living. When speaking to the second person I related in glowing terms how in my late teens I spent some happy and intriguing August days at the summer home of Paul Georges, a renowned painter, and his wife Lisette and their two daughters, Paulette and Yvette and some other artist friends. There were paintings, drawings, wine, kittens and delicious food to be enjoyed. I spoke of the way Georges encouraged young artists and how the community was welcoming.
The following day I received a call from a young lady who identified herself as Lisette. I did not initially catch her last name. She wanted me to participate in an online video project for MySpace Music that very day, October 11. That was going to be very tricky to accomplish, but I ended up doing a reading on camera for an attractive young singer named Sky.
In making the arrangements I discovered Lisette’s last name was Paulson! I felt as though this was a clear message from the late Paul and Lisette Georges, or one heck of a co-incidence. Later when I met Lisette Paulson in person I was struck by her resemblance to one of the other (then young) artists who spent time with me at the Georges’ home, Stephanie DeManuelle. Added to this was Lisette’s telling me that she enjoys spending quite a bit of time out in the east end of Long Island.

I think that Paul and Lisette Georges sent this event into my life after I spoke appreciatively about their hospitality, thus answering my question. My thanks to them both for opening their home to me then, and my answer now.

Several days ago I was having a conversation with a friend about the function of time in the time-space continuum as it was shown to me in an ecstatic revelation in March 2000.

It is a convoluted tale which began late in December 1999. It was pre-9/11 in New York City and there had been quite a number of company holiday parties at which I had read a prodigious number of cards and palms. I was physically and psychically exhausted, but still a spiritual seeker in my down time. I wanted to practice creative visualization, at which I had already had some considerable success.

For the uninitiated, creative visualization is a mental discipline wherein, one visualizes and sensualizes (“pictures” if you will) oneself in the situation in which one would like to be, and by doing so enables the situation to occur in one’s life in the material 3-D world. This is a shorthand definition.

Have you ever heard the saying: “Be careful what you wish for.”? This is particularly true with creative visualization, because if you are at all good at it, your visualizations are likely to materialize. So you must be very sure that you want the thing or situation you are visualizing. I tried to think of something I would like to happen and would potentially be very interesting, but in which I had little if any emotional investment and about which I could think of no significant downside for myself or any others. It had to be something which was not likely to happen to me otherwise, so if it happened I could be reasonably sure that my visualization had had an effect.

I had long been a fan of Deepak Chopra and at that time I was thinking a lot about the concept of time itself and whether it was uniform on Earth and in other places and whether it could truly be characterized as a fourth dimension. So I decided that my visualization would be that I should have the opportunity to speak to Deepak Chopra one on one about the concept of time. The rules would be that I would visualize this three times over the course of ten days, which incidentally would encompass New Year’s Day 2000. I would do nothing extraordinary to make this happen, such as running off to an expensive seminar at which he would be featured, but I would go with the flow and take what opportunities were presented.

After I had done the visualization twice, I received a telephone call from a female New Age author. She wanted an intuitive reading at her home on New Year’s Eve during the day. I prefer not to go to see my clients, but rather to have them come to see me. For some reason I assented to her request, perhaps out of curiosity, perhaps because she was persuasive. She was very friendly but clearly wanted the reading done her way, which I found somewhat curious, because I was doing the reading, and I found it trying, because I could clearly tell what she wanted to hear. That is an entire story unto itself perhaps best kept to myself.

But the interesting thing was that she told me without being asked that she knew Deepak Chopra. I was taken aback that seemingly my visualization was already working. I expressed interest in her connection while carefully not asking to be introduced or anything of that nature. She totally misread my interest and told me flatly that he was a married man whose wife was always looking on. Wow! I told her clearly that my interest was NOT romantic, but she seemed adamant that it must be. This was simply embarrassing. I was very happy to scurry away after that, but sad that this was a dead end in terms of my visualization.

So I did the visualization one more time, the third time, and then nearly forgot about it as I took an interesting vacation to California. Shortly after my return I received an email from a friend in Florida in mid February asking me to sign a petition involving a TV show. Deepak Chopra was supposed to be featured on a news-magazine type format show but the network (ABC, I recall) thought the interview was too highbrow to appeal to the audience. My friend requested that I sign a petition asking the network to air the interview anyway. This brought my visualization suddenly back to mind. Although my friend is a yoga and tai chi instructor who might be assumed to like his books, we never had any specific conversation about Dr. Chopra and she was not in the habit of asking me to sign petitions and in fact I don’t think I had even spoken to her at all in the new year.

I went to the website and signed the petition. As I was reading the web page I noticed toward the bottom, that my old friend Alan Colmes was scheduled to interview Dr. Chopra on his radio show and it provided a link to click through to Alan’s show. I clicked through and sent an email note simply saying that I thought it was wonderful that he (Colmes) was interviewing someone in the spiritual (rather than the political) arena and wanting to know how I could tune in. At that point I hadn’t spoken to Alan in several years.

Quickly I received a response from Alan saying that unfortunately the show was not broadcast in the New York market, but elsewhere all around the US. I would not be able to listen, but would I be willing to be the first call-in contributor to the show as I was familiar with Chopra’s books?!!! I was dumbfounded. My visualization was going to come true. Alan told me that the reason for the interview was a new book that Deepak Chopra had written called How To Know God. Needless to say I wrote back that I’d be more than pleased, I’ll read the book, and please tell me what number to call and when. He responded that the show would call ME on that evening in March and I’d be the first caller. I got a scare when the show was postponed by a week, but that only gave me more time to read the book. I did not want to sound like an idiot when I spoke to Dr. Chopra, who I think is a very intelligent man.

The penultimate part of the story is I did get to speak to Dr. Deepak Chopra both about the nature of time and about his excellent book. He was very easy to speak with and I enjoyed our conversation immensely. My visualization had miraculously come true and proved to me the immeasurable value of visualization. I’ve not spoken to him since, although I’d welcome the opportunity, he does not regularly circulate in my environment. 🙂

What happened to me the night before the radio show was even more amazing. It was intensely personal and words alone, I am sure, will fail to accurately describe the experience. I had been thinking a lot about the nature of time as well as reading the book, in preparation for participating in the interview. Slightly before my normal bedtime I decided to retire early with the intention of meditating on the topic of time.

I had just quieted my senses to begin the meditation when I had what can only be called a Revelation with a capital R. I was spoken to inside my head by a calm clear male voice that was comforting. It allowed me to simultaneously realize that my body was lying safely in my loft bed while my astral body was being transported into Space. I was shown that time was caused by motion in Space. First I saw the Earth rotating on its axis, then revolving around the Sun. Then I saw the Sun with its solar system in concert with other solar systems traveling around the hub of the Milky Way Galaxy. The Galaxy itself was on its own journey with lots of other galaxies. Everything was traveling at enormous speeds in relation to one another. Movement in space created time. Living creatures on Earth are respiring beings with a birth, a life and a death and travel in one direction only in time, literally from birth to death. And in the corporeal sense one cannot go back in time, because every second the Earth is in a totally different space in the Universe and all the stars and planets have gotten to a different relative position. To go forward or backward in time inside one’s physical body one would literally have to move the entire Universe. Outside one’s body exploration in time is possible.

As I feared this description in no way conveys the awesomeness of the Revelation. You may or may not understand the words I wrote, and possibly have not had this sort of experience and for all I know you may not even believe me.

Two Postscripts

1.) Several years previous to this experience (above), I had lunch with Alan Colmes on University Place and Ninth Street at the Knickerbocker. During our meal the conversation wandered toward  personal paranormal experiences. I honestly do not remember the specific experiences about which we talked. After lunch we walked north on University Place where a now defunct gallery was located and we decided to look inside. We descended a small metal circular staircase to the lower level to see the exhibition there. As we walked down we heard the clatter of a piece falling off the wall. The gentleman in charge down there was quite perturbed. Not only had a framed piece fallen off the wall, but it had inexplicably fallen outward about two feet from the wall before it fell downward. I think there are some persons with which paranormal thing are more likely to happen, some sort of synergy.

2.) During the recent conversation I had with my friend that brought this revelatory experience to mind I had a flash insight as to what one sort of hell might be: After death the soul is spun off into the vast, lonely cold abyss of space left to wander by itself in absolute zero cold always conscious but never to encounter another being for the rest of eternity.

Have you ever wanted to dream about a particular person or place or objective? Do you have a “heart’s desire”? I often work with people through guided imagery and creative visualization to attain their heart’s desire, be that a romantic mate or a new career or another of their life goals. The way imaging and visualization can work is truly magical.

However one thing I try to impress upon people looking for a romantic partner is not to put a face on that visualization. In other words, it is fine to work spiritually towards getting connected to a wonderful partner but it is an imposition on a particular individual to try to visualize them into your life. This is because if you do, you are then interfering with their life path and not considering that the powers that be may have someone even better in store for you.

However you may program a particular night’s dream to include an encounter with that person who has attracted your attention. The fact that you decided to dream of them on a particular night does not interfere with their autonomy. In fact, if you are at all a lucid dreamer and tend to remember your dreams, you may learn some important information about that individual and why a relationship with them would or would not be in your best interest. Recently I was helping a woman  to program her dreams.  She discovered through dreaming that the man with whom she was “in love” had certain personal habits that were loathsome to her. Though she was friendly with the man for over a year, she seldom saw him because he did not live near her and she had yet to engage in a physical relationship with him. When dreaming of him, he exhibited some repulsive behavior about which she had no idea, but the behavior subsequently was confirmed to be true by his former girlfriend. She realized sadly that an intimate relationship with him would never work out.

Programming your dreams is not limited to romantic encounters. It operates very well for working through a thorny problem in your life. Suppose there is an interpersonal problem at work, you can program your dream to find a solution to that problem. Suppose you need a certain amount of money to pay a bill that is due by the first of the month, you can program your dream to show you where you can seek that amount.

By now you may be wondering about the method I use for programming dreams. This is not a commercial blog. This is to say, no one has paid me to sponsor any products I write about, including the books I sometimes review. However there are three things that I do use to program dreams and I do recommend them. They are a Hemi-Sync CD, “Sweet Dreams” and Mountain Rose Herbs Dream Blend Herbal Tea, and galantamine, a dietary supplement. Though galantamine is a perfectly legal supplement to buy, I recommend that you consult your doctor to be sure that it is safe for you. The effect of galantamine tends to wear off with continual use, so I only use it (at most) around three consecutive nights a month. I use a 4 mg capsule of the brand called GalantaMind. This is not to be confused with a much stronger prescription drug used to treat Alzheimer’s disease marketed under various brand names. Here is a case where more is definitely not better. It is perfectly acceptable to try this technique without using galantamine if you prefer.

More information regarding galantamine, other supplements and dreaming can be found in the book Advanced Lucid Dreaming by Thomas Yuschak.

Ideally to program a dream you should be sleeping alone in a place with minimal disturbances. About an hour to hour and a half before retiring, brew a strong cup of Dream Blend Tea and take a capsule of galantamine (4 mg). Be sure you have a note pad or dream journal and writing implement next to your bed.

Directly before retiring, set up what ever audio system you need to hear the stereo Hemi-Sync “Sweet Dreams” audio. I use an i-Pod and ear phones. Once you get the hang of programming your dreams you may no longer need to listen to the guided visualization provided on the audio. You can then decide whether you want no audio at all or whether you prefer some of the Hemi-Sync Metamusic designed to take you to the dream state. Also before retiring you should decide about what you wish to dream and your objectives for that dream.

Then make yourself comfortable in your bed. It is best to lie flat on your back with a support under your neck and your spine in alignment. You should have sufficient covering to remain pleasantly warm during the night. Start up the audio and take deep relaxing breaths. Go to sleep and dream!  🙂

When you wake be sure to take your time and write down your dream(s), even if it is not the dream you asked for. This method may take practice. Express gratitude for your dreams and ponder them. You may repeat this sequence for three nights in a row.

Basil Bristow is a talented channeler from whom I regularly receive messages. Currently he is channeling a being named Marvin and Marvin has provided him and us a very meaningful message with which I thoroughly agree. I’d like to share it with you.

MARVIN-28

The health of the Earth is reflected in the health of your body – this is why it is vital that you do all that you can to keep the Earth healthy.

The health of your soul also is reflected in the health of your body – this is why it is vital to keep your soul healthy.

“But,” you ask, “How can I keep my soul healthy … let alone keeping the Earth healthy?”

You ask a very good question that deserves a very good answer.

You can keep your soul healthy by experiencing a healthy Earth.  By abusing the Earth in any way what-so-ever you abuse your soul – for your soul chose to abide on Earth to experience Earth.

Your soul and the Earth (remember, your body is of the Earth) are closely related; you are kin; you come from the same source.  Earth shares your experiences just as much as you share Earth’s experiences … when Earth experiences a hurricane, so does your body and soul; when you soul experiences the loss of a loved one, so does the Earth for in one way or another the Earth takes back the remains of that loved one.

Your soul gains health by spiritually honoring the Earth and the Earth maintains its health from your spirituality.

You cannot honor Earth by abusing it and Earth cannot honor your soul by being unable to sustain the body in which your soul abides.

Your very existence on Earth depends on how you treat the Earth … and, of course, Earth’s existence depends on you.  You and Earth are so closely aligned that you are one.

I offer you Universal peace and knowledge.

Marvin

Update: Sad to report that Basil Bristow passed into the next realm this morning, Monday January 25, 2016. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

began with the image of a sign. It simply said “One”. It was pearlescent white with pale blue letters and some wavy lines of pale blue around the letters. What followed was a frightening scenario of the twisting of a beautiful and true idea into an excuse for a cruel totalitarianism. It was shown to me as a possible future, one way future possibilities could collapse into a reality. I was told this could be the state of affairs in two hundred years.

It is a tenet of many spiritual disciplines that we are one with all other human beings, one with all other life forms and one with the Earth and the Universe. It is a beautiful teaching and can lead to selfless behavior as well as the ability to see things from another’s point of view. So far so good. We are told that when the true sage reaches enlightenment she becomes one with all and perceives a continuum between herself and All That Is. Modern physics teaches that any particle that has ever touched any other particle in the universe is aware of that other particle into infinity despite any huge physical distance.

In this future possibility of reality that I saw, a (nearly world) government is set up with a mandatory state religion in which this Oneness is the central idea. There is an invisible central power which decides what the denizens of this world must do all in the name of “The One”. It is a cruel existence in an environmentally ruined land, lacking uniqueness and diversity. It is a horrible perversion of a beautiful idea.

In retrospect this premonition sounds like an Ayn Rand novel of some sort. Alas I am not a Libertarian but tend more politically to the Green Party. But this is what I saw.

Pamela and Thomas Campbell

As many of my readers already know, I am a big fan of Robert Monroe, author of Journeys Out Of Body and founder of the Monroe Institute. About a year ago, a book with the unlikely name of My Big T.O.E, came to my attention. It was written by Thomas Campbell who worked with Bob Monroe in the early years, when Monroe was beginning the Institute. Initially My Big T.O.E, was published as three separate volumes, but more recently it was republished as a giant paperback and I bought it. T.O.E., by the way, stands for theory of everything. This book is an engaging tome but don’t expect to buzz through it in a weekend. It requires careful thoughtful reading and I rarely was able to read more than 10-20 pages a sitting. Even then I was often forced to reread paragraphs to truly digest their meaning. It is one thing to understand the words and quite another to own the concepts set forth by those words.

Tom Campbell is a nuclear physicist who has spent much of his career working for NASA and the book is based in scientific inquiry. He is well versed in all manner of cosmology and physical theories of the Universe from Newton through Einstein and beyond into Quantum physics and string theory. He is convinced that the known Universe is both virtual and digital and he can prove it to anyone who will listen (or read). But Campbell is also a meta-physician.

Needless to say these ideas had me spellbound, so when I went to his website to glean more information, it was extremely synchronistic to discover that he had a seminar in NYC in a month’s time. I cleared my calendar for that weekend and registered.

The program was held at the MetaCenter on West 29th Street, a very convenient, clean, central NYC location. Friday night was the (free) introduction to the ideas embodied in the book; on Saturday Campbell worked through the theoretical implications of the “Theory of Everything”; and on Sunday those implications were tested on a practical level with exercises in healing and remote viewing.

The basic starting point of the program was to establish the nature of reality. Most models of reality fail to go beyond the physical 3 or 4D world and fail to consider what happened or what existed before or outside the “Big Bang”. Many scientists start with unsupportable assumptions. Reality is not synonymous with the models we make to explain it to ourselves and others. Physical reality as we experience it is an illusion of our senses. We get some data and extrapolate it into this reality model, when it actually exists only as a probability, until we make a measure of it. Consciousness is at the base of each of our realities and is therefore personal and not truly objective.

There is more, much more, that I cannot delve into in the space of this blog. It is all worthwhile considering.

I found myself largely agreeing with the conclusions of Tom Campbell with the exception of a certain (very esoteric) position on the nature of time outside our physical matter reality. That minor difference of opinion really makes no practical difference in the application of the principles set forth in Campbell’s “Big T.O.E.” (As an aside, he is actually a rocket scientist and I am not, so I’m guessing his opinion on this matter might have more sway than mine :-)) The manner in which he has explained some of those things that I had already discovered on my own to be true, was extraordinarily helpful in explaining those principles to others.

I highly recommend My Big T.O.E. to seekers and philosophers of all stripes. If you have a chance to go to one of his seminars, do it! In his workshops he is aided by his lovely wife, Pamela (pictured above) and Keith Warner and Donna Aveni (pictured below) who also book the seminars under the name MBT Events and do everything humanly possible to make you feel welcome.
