One morning last week I woke up from a dream. The dream was weird and definitely in color. A certain large male orange cat of my acquaintance was prominently featured. In the dream I had filled a big sparkling white bathroom basin with cold water from the tap. The cat, who likes to put his paw in water and bat it, began doing so and then jumped in. Soon he put his head under the water too. Then, completely submerged, he tried to go to the bottom of the basin in order to breathe through the drain which was gurgling. I tried to pull him out but I could not do so. He remained at the bottom of the basin near the drain and seemed to be clinging to it trying to breathe. I was very upset about the cat in my dream.
Then I woke up and began to mull over the meaning of my dream. I opened my eyes and my long thin dark tan arm reached for the apricot stucco wall in the soft evening light. Whoa! I began to freak out! I do not have a long thin tan arm or an apricot stucco wall. Splat! I was pulled back into my chubbier whiter body and it was still the middle of the night (or at least still dark out) and I could see the outlines of my bookcase where the apricot stucco wall had been. I had experienced a false awakening while dreaming.
This has happened to me before but what stood out about this instance was that during my false awakening I was thinking about my previous dream about the cat. This may be a first for me to be actively thinking about and trying to figure out a previous dream while still dreaming.
Wikipedia defines A false awakening as “a vivid and convincing dream about awakening from sleep, while the dreamer in reality continues to sleep.” I often have false awakenings in which I am awake in my real surroundings and get up and do something reasonably mundane and then realize that my physical body is still in the bed. These may also be spontaneous out of body experiences. But I can’t remember being in another body that felt like a real body in another room that looked real in which I was also thinking about my previous dream in a rational logical way.
It so happens that two days later out of the blue the orange cat went into a bad state of being, sitting by himself and hiding. The following day he was observed to be dripping a bloody substance from his rear quarters and was taken to the veterinarian where he was diagnosed with a urinary blockage in his urethra. His bladder was the size of a grapefruit and his kidneys were affected. He stayed at the animal clinic for several days. His condition was touch and go. When he was released back into the custody of his loving owners they were admonished to see that he drank more water and to add water to his food.
It seems to me that the dream was a premonition of the cat’s illness. He was in tip top shape at the time of the dream and did not begin to show any signs that anything was wrong until two days passed. My question is what was the dream telling me? If it was a premonition why was I unable to help? I have never dreamt of this cat before, so why now? Interestingly I feel I might not have remembered the dream if it weren’t for the false awakening.

Hi Fahrusha – so glad he is OK. I think you may have picked up on some very subtle health changes and you chose a dream to bring it to your conscious awareness.

Thanks for your comment. This is logical, but all the water? This was beyond any logic.

I agree Fahrusha- when we are asleep we are in our real consciousness without distractions. Since you are sensitive already to that realm, in terms of reading others, it makes sense that you would pick up on this .Especially since you also have such a love for creatures as well.

Hi Roberta,
Thanks for your comment. I certainly think that we can access different levels of consciousness during sleep. And I truly love cats and all other creatures, though some insects scare me.
Best,
Fahrusha

All the fantasy, fancy and futurism is all well and good. But I just saw you last week, and there was NO chubby arm to be seen anywhere! Love, Raven

Thanks Raven. It’s all about perceptions and energy isn’t it? 😉

Well , as a child I dreamed that my grandmother died and the next night she did. Then a couple of months later I dreamed my dog was poisoned and the next day he was. I was afraid to go to sleep because I thought I made it happen. Now I wonder, because I was such a sensitive child, if I was being warned so that I didn’t go into shock. Perhaps it’s not for us to know.

Wow Rina,
I hope you haven’t closed down your perceptive talents and abilities.

I have never had a false awakening…fascinating!

Trust me Sharon, it’s plenty strange. It sort of speaks to levels of consciousness and levels of reality. Thanks for your comment.

As an animal lover, I dislike to admit that I like new puppies merely a little greater than kittens. They’re just so lovable and affectionate. I’m a cat fan, but puppies simply handle to be more appealing. If they weren’t so much trouble I would certainly follow a puppy right now.

Thanks for the comment. Puppies are wonderful but they turn into dogs. So if you get a puppy, I hope you will also love the adult dog.

Hi, perhaps the cat was communicating its distress in the only way it could–but broadcasting its feeling of drowning. You are so sensitive that you received it as soon as your normal waking consciousness was out of the way. Typically, animals hide their illnesses as long as possible because predators look for the old and the iill as an easy kill. Animal communication skills can be learned. You are already half way there if you can receive so clearly. Now just put yourself in the animal’s place and that will help you understand the pictures and feelings that they send. My specialty is horses.

Thanks, Sue. I have a great love of horses, though little experience with those noble souls. I have practiced animal communication in the waking state with some good results, and I have, of course, dreamed about my pets. But this dream communication from a cat to me is new. Since my last TMI visit I have been more in touch with my dreams. Over the course of my life this dream awareness has ebbed and flowed. You brought up for me another animal communication of note which I may blog on soon. Thanks.

Dear Fahrusha,
I came to see you twice a few years back when I had great turmoil in my life. What you told me was true and actually quite helpful. Thanks. I did not know that you had so much interest and knowledge about dreams. I plan to come back to see you before the end of the year to review some important dreams I have be having and which have been recurring. Do you do that too?
I love reading your blog.

Thanks, Larissa, and I am glad that my readings were helpful to you. I do work with dreams for my clients. Recurring dreams are particularly interesting. Most dreams can be read on more than one level. If the recurrent dream is disturbing you might consider writing out a different more positive ending for the dream and read that ending out loud at bedtime. But before doing that try to determine what it is that the dream is trying to tell you. Also check out my blog post on dream programing: https://fahrusha.wordpress.com/2011/06/05/programming-your-dreams/
I look forward to seeing you again sometime soon.

dream i had just recently had to do with the temple shooting by skinheads in wisconsin……The dream i had didn’t show any shootings or skinheads…it was almost as if i was inside this muslim temple..and i was getting a first hand look at how this place is run…..almost like investigating JONESTOWN..and i was under the impression that this temple has its own tragic potential…..a lady was telling me that IF YOU LEAVE THE TEMPLE OR QUIT,,,,YOU CAN BE EXECUTED…AND LEGALLY THE LAW CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT….and i think you have to sign a piece of paper..almost like accepting the terms and conditions…..which kinda means…murder in the united states is allowed to a certain degree….i don’t know how much of this is accurate..but i wish someone would look into it…because after i woke up…i for some odd reason, could not feel sympathy for the temple members because they were violated by skinheads…but i am kinda wondering if this dream was intended to tell me what the real motivation of this killing and theres more to it than what the media is telling us?…did the skinheads know this already..and it came to me in my dream….this not excusing what the skinheads did…this is understanding why they did it….and the temple having its own tragic potential within it’s circle might have been violated by another circle who doesn’t agree with these terms….i don’t know.

Dear Dustin,
In order to make a thoughtful reply to your comment, I need to clarify a few facts first.
1) The shooter in the Sikh temple was a forty year old white supremacist lone gunman, who was dishonorably discharged from the US Army in the early 90s. I don’t believe he served in the Middle East.
2) This is the most important point. Sikhs are NOT Muslims. Sikhism is the world’s fifth largest religion and most adherents live in the Punjabi region of India and Pakistan. Sikhs do not practice jihad (holy war) and are not proselytizing (vigorously seeking and recruiting new members).
Interestingly the scenario you write about would more closely fit charges made by some former members against Scientology. Scientology does vigorously recruit new members and they do sign papers. People find it hard to extricate themselves from this group and it is alleged that they imprison their members in compounds in the US. So far the government has not freed these alleged prisoners.
Check out these news sources:

Sikhs, to my knowledge do not kill or imprison their followers.

Thank you for your comment. Your dream was very interesting.
Best wishes,
Fahrusha
