Many psychologists, while explaining away the accounts of people who claim they have been abducted by aliens, say that those individuals are victims of sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is a physical condition which allows the body of a dreamer to be immobilized while dreaming thereby preventing the individual from acting out their dreams and perhaps getting injured or killed. If you are dreaming that you are jumping from your fourth story window to fly to France it is evolutionarily advantageous that you are in a state of sleep paralysis, no argument there.
But is sleep paralysis more than that? Does it have another function? I have had various episodes of sleep paralysis since childhood that were both exceedingly terrifying and interesting, however most memorable episodes had an addition element, that of a very fierce and painful vibration in the head and the face, particularly (in my case) in the area around my nose and hypothetical third eye (between the eyes). First I found I couldn’t move (sleep paralysis) but I was awake in my bed in my bedroom. Then my face and head would begin to buzz dramatically. I’d fight it and either succumb or wrangle myself out of the state. Most often I’d be aware of another being in the room with me and more than not I was afraid of that being because it would be attempting to pull me out-of-body against my volition.
My own experiences were varied and mostly terror inducing. I will not cover the complete content of them now. But after I had a UFO sighting in my teen years some of the experiences took on a different flavor. The being in the room with me was repeatedly the same over a large number of years and imparted to me certain information most of which I don’t wish to disclose in this venue at this time, but I will say that I would describe that being as a tall 7-8 foot radiant humanoid with longish blonde hair, a sort of angel without wings. Was it a dream? I don’t know, I don’t believe so. Was I an abductee or contactee? I don’t know. I do know that 17-year-old me wrote a letter to a parapsychology organization, pleading for help to no avail.
It was not until I was an adult a number of years later that I was quite miraculously drawn to the work of Robert Monroe (that is a very fascinating story in itself for another blog piece) that I read of someone (Monroe) who shared the sensations of the fierce vibrations and worked through his fear to have varied out-of-body experiences in which he met a number of unusual beings. The first of his books, Journeys Out of Body, chronicles his experiences with the vibrations and the OOBEs. I also subsequently took several seminars at the Monroe Institute wherein I began to control some of the vibrations and instead of ravaging my head they pulsated pleasantly through my body. I called this phenomena “running energy”. I even went willingly out-of-body! At TMI I met many people who had had similar experiences. I also became aware that these vibrations were more common in spiritual literature than I had ever imagined. I am currently compiling a list of authors and their books, and religious figures who have reported this phenomena. While at TMI, I run energy, but still away from that environment I am sometimes the victim of the fierce vibrations and the sometimes troubling events that follow upon them.
But I wish to leave my own experiences to postulate something of a hypothesis of what could be happening here. A human being (and most mammals) are at their most vulnerable while asleep. They are even more vulnerable when they are in a state of “sleep paralysis”. What if entities, good, harmful or neutral, were aware of the human mammalian function of sleep paralysis and could cause it at will in any susceptible human? That would explain many abduction accounts and also accounts of spiritual revelation. It is possible that all persons who experience the paralysis and the vibrations are not receiving contact from the same beings. According to mathematicians at least eleven dimensions exist in our Universe, though we are sensorially aware of only four. In addition whole parallel universes have been postulated by some scientists. The vibrations would seem to be a crucial part of the ability to receive communication from these beings who may inhabit another dimensional plane. They may need to change our vibration to attempt to communicate with us or transport us into another time space continuum. To some humans, the total loss of volition can be horrifying and can lead to mental suffering as they attempt to make sense of these bizarre experiences.
In terms of alien abduction, it is not known from whence indeed the “aliens” might come. They may be space travellers, time travellers or inter-dimensional travellers or all of the above. What is generally agreed upon is that if they have perfected any of these modes of travel they are more advanced technologically than humans are currently. We are rank beginners in our exploration of the Universe. What we know of Our Universe is so little in comparison to what can be known that we must remain humble in our quest for knowledge.
An interesting look at how we might perceive another dimension can be hound at: http://www.lucidcrossroads.co.uk/astral.htm There are other things on this page that are interesting, but I do not necessarily endorse (nor condemn). The part of the page I am referring to involves an explanation of going from two dimensions into three. Another more detailed example of this can be found in the book, Flatland, A Romance of Many Dimensions by Edwin Abbott Abbott.

Hi! This article is so interesting, I have had exactly the same experiences! It used to be worse about a year ago when it first started happening, I’d be about to fall asleep and sleep paralysis would set in. I’d feel a massive pressure on my chest as though there was some evil entity sitting ontop of me and I just couldn’t move. I’d have the feeling that something really bad was about to happen and my whole body would vibrate. Then I’d manage to get back into my body. Now though, it’s different. I’ve been reading about angels, astral prjection and out of body expereinces (OBE’s) and now when sleep paralysis sets in (about twice a month) I ask Archangel Michael to help me and I usually am able to break out of it. I don’t feel as though someone is sitting ontop of me anymore but I do feel as though there is an evil presence in the room with me but cannot see it. Twice I’ve actually lifted out of my body and floated up to my ceiling but then I’ve got really scared and struggled to get back into my body. It’s so hard though because I can’t really talk to anyone about it, if I hadn’t had these expereinces for myself I would just think that it is to do with the brain and sleep stages and some sort of dream expereince, but I know that this isn’t true, I just know that it’s real! I’d love to know how I can just relax and go with it, and what this strange presence is in the room with me, is it really a bad entity or is this just me thinking this?

You are certainly not alone in your experiences. It IS helpful to think positive thoughts. As to the reality of an entity, well, everything and everybody is energy, including us. Our “matter” is a very effective illusion. The good news is that the overwhelming majority of persons suffer no harm from these experiences.

Lauren I have the same thing happen at least twice a week it has been happening to me since I was 12. For years it terrified me and now I can regularly control it similar to controlling a dream. I find it super intresting now days and welcome it happening. The human brain is more powerful than we will ever know. No aliens, no evil beings, just dreaming with your eyes open. Whatever scares you will manifest in your hsp session cause its in your brain. It all comes from you.

hi am 17 years
and i have been having this experience now for about 2 weeks. at first it was really really scary . like really really u know u think you are dead.. and your mind actually shapes up signs saying ”RIP”
and that even freakes even mooore
but i thought i was the only 1 but hey! am not alone, so relieved but
still i regoogled it and came across your blog
i think this has some kind of spiritual//supernatural thing goin on
because i heard voices the last time this happened and they were sermoning..
saying things kinda like a pastor.. mean, serious stuff right?
more like some kind of a revelation
June 19, 2010 at 4:0 1
Dear Nabil,
Thanks for writing. The first thing to know is something you have already realized: you are not dead. As long as the experience is positive try and explore it. If it becomes negative put yourself into a golden bubble of light and then attempt to move your fingers with all your might to get out of this altered state.
Best wishes,

Hi,
Thanks for posting this. A very interesting article! I’ve been having ‘sleep paralysis’ on and off for years but more recently its become fairly frequent. I have the usual sensations of electrical buzzing in my head and the sense of not being alone. The room also seems to be emitting a different light, somehow darker. Last night though, I was dreaming that I was on a huge slide that rolled in waves, as i was on this slide I noticed that there were strange flashing objects in the sky.. it was then near the end of the slide that I started to elevate quite quickly upwards. As i got quite high up i became a little scared that i was being ‘taken’ and I woke myself up but into sleep paralysis. Interesting dream/experience. Now i kind of wish i’d gone with it… Its comforting to know that there are many others also having similar experiences, thank god for the internet!

Thanks for your comment. Your experience sounds fascinating. Could it have been an abduction or just a dream? You’ll have to be the judge of that! My advice would be to write down these experiences with the most details possible.

Hi Julia,
I have has the exact same experience! The light that I see is like a vivid purple light. When I float up I too get scared so I slowly start go back into my body, this experience is called astral projection and if you can achieve it, you will be able to explore the whole universe and its dimensions. I have gotten to this stage by practicing the philosophy that Buddhist have used in meditation, I think it might take time to achieve it. Last night I didnt go out of my body, but I saw the Virgin Mary above me just about a meter away. I could hear soft whispering but sounded like more than one person. I admit I panicked and went into paralysis but this morning I felt good and realized she might have had a message for me.I am not religious but somehow and for some reason she came to me.

Hi Ric,
Thanks for sharing your experience it sounds really fascinating. I have just purchased Robert Monroes ‘Journeys Out Of Body’ and am looking forward to learning more about it. Have you read his book? It so intriguing to have such experiences and reassuring to share them.

Around 3 AM today I experienced enormous full body vibration with total paralysis…it was so intense! I could see my room, yet I could not move or speak! After a while I could release myself, only to have it happen over and over again. I was afraid something horrible was happening with my physical health, the vibration and ‘sound’ was so strong. I have had this happen in the past, the last time I saw ‘beings’ standing over me and had the experience of very long legged spider type ‘instruments’. My head feels ‘fuzzy’ this morning and I am very tired. I want to know what this ‘really ‘ is!
July 10, 2010 at 4:0 1
Dear Linda,
Thank you for your comment.
Many people want to know what this phenomena “really” is. There is the part that is a physiological protective response- we are “paralyzed” during sleep in order that we don’t act out our dreams. That part is not debatable. The question that remains is whether the times we experience this paralysis when we are not asleep and also perceive beings around us are just illusions, or if the beings in question are real on some level (aliens?, interdimensionals?) and have found a way to control humans by employing the mechanism of sleep paralysis.
Odd thing is one can sometimes receive information from the beings while in this state, one can be taken out-of-body. Mystics have had revelations while in this state and other people have reported sexual experiences as well.

Hi I felt the exact same thing last night, for the first time. I felt full body vibrations and there was this loud noise, that was getting louder. I wanted to cover my ears but I couldnt, I couldnt feel my body or control it. I was floating and It felt as if I was being pulled up towards the ceiling. I was scared I was going to go into the ceiling, so I tried to say my sisters name but my voice was quiet and weak. Then I did something and brought myself back down. Then I quickly started going back up and the noise was coming back, so I thought of what I just did and brought my self back down. Although I did not sense another being or see anything like that.

WOW,
I find this subject very interesting as I have had the same or similar occurrences happen to me from early teen to my current age of 40, no matter where I have lived in Sydney Australia.
It usually occurs between the hours of 1.30am and 3.00am and generally I feel the presence before it happens but not all the time.
Its starts from an overwhelming force over my head and then possibly my shoulders and arms almost like a paralytic state including the feeling of almost suffocation as I have tried to shout but cannot and generally I get an erratic pattern of movement from my head where I am almost trying to break free from the restraint.
Its not a pleasant feeling and after this I try to resist sleeping and have been drawn into the same process only moments after breaking free several times buts its not always like this.
At the age of 20 I remember a night that still is like yesterday and I could see small figures beside my bed while I was stuck in such a state and the saw a tall thin figure come down the staircase, I could see and hear the creek of the stairs and within seconds it all went as quick as it started, yet I was not asleep during this time.
About 1 year ago I sensed the presence before it began and somehow sat up in bed very quickly the next thing what occurred at the time was that some boxes that were in my walk-in wardrobe next to my bed had been crushed, could it be that what ever was there was shocked by my unexpected surprise and fell back into these boxes. Boxes just don’t crush on their own?
Generally after this occurs I create or imagine a white protective sheet over me and on other occasions I turn on a light in a corridor thats not to bright so I can still sleep, It works quite well.
I have an open mind and do not tell those who don’t believe as it could be taken incorrectly, if you know what I mean.
I only discuss with those who have had this same or similar experience and try to understand as I know what I feel, hear and see, being not a dream but reality.

July 26, 2010 at 4:0 1
Dear Ads,
Thank you for your helpful comment. The visualization of the protective white sheet sounds like a good idea. Robert Monroe’s work suggests a “Resonant Energy Balloon” or REBAL in Monroe-speak. There is much good advice in Dion Fortune’s book “Psychic Self Defense”. Crushed boxes would indicate a physical presence (maybe ETs?).I have also slept with a light on after an experience. It serves to orient yourself into 4D.
Have you ever received any true or useful information from your experiences?

hi,iam sadi
i had similar experiance last year.
i dont know actually how to describe it.
i could hear voices….or was it voices..?i dunno.ther were many figures,or ghost,or some thing more like gas whorling arond my eyes(eyes only).it was scary..i try to open my eyes.but could not…i try to lift my body, but couldnt. my hands wont move as if someone has pressed it. i feel a kinda pressure arond my ears..and i feel my body, especially my legs raising(i like it)it was last year, when iwas 16 years old.last yaer,i saw in TV, a programme about alien abduction and all….till then i didnt knew anything about sleep paralysis or aien abduction.
but after i saw that programme i rarely see such dream.now iam not at all seeing such dreams though i greatly wishes to see it sometime.(i.e,after reading articles like this,i thought of exploring it)
or was it bcz i went to sleep very late(1.00 AM),i saw such scary dreams.
July 29, 2010 at 4:0 1
Dear Sadi,
So nice to hear from you. I am impressed with your bravery in wanting to do more exploration. I would caution you to be well grounded before venturing forward. I also recommend Robert Monroe’s book “Journeys Out of Body”.

I have had the very same experience going on and it started out with being pulled towards other people who I have not known, and some who I have known or seen and I actually saw what they were doing but then after a while I started getting dragged down and pulled into sleep paralysis where there was this black scary being always pulling me in and kinda of screeching or yelling at me as I tried to get away from it with all my might moving my hands and struggling to awaken from my body. Then one night I said Jesus blood and lights came from the black sky in my sleep through the darkness and the dark being disappeared and burned up. I had recently seen a few UFO sightings around the house and while watching them there was something similar to hums and streaks of light across the sky which I can describe as somewhat like lightning in white, red, and blue which kept going on for a long period of time. Some days my eyes do get super sensitive from lights.. and as I kept watching, there would be signals of red and blue mostly coming from one UFO to the other. I knew these were not planes or anything of that sort because they had no sounds at all- but this was indeed different. Now instead I keep hearing a humming sound with vibrations and different colored lights that struck me in my sleep then instead of entering a sleep paralysis stage while I was in the process of resting my eyes and trying to sleep I then for some odd reason at one point, I or something blocked one of those lights like a barrier and I believe it has stopped.
July 29, 2010 at 4:0 1
Dear T,
This is a very interesting experience you have related. The humming with vibrations sounds very like what I call “running energy”. As I have written in other posts, we truly do not know whether the UFOs which are seen are from space or from another dimensional plane or from a parallel universe. Our human minds like to find categories to put our experiences in. My best advice is to keep an open mind on this.

Also forgot.. Every time I do close my eyes I get glimpses of other people or alien-like things at times.
July 29, 2010 at 4:0 1
Yes, I do to at times.
July 28, 2010 at 4:0 1
Whoops and I also get a full white sheet of light but I don’t do it myself. It’s coming from somewhere else. Other times that whole white sheet is black and it switches back and forth every few seconds.. At different times I see a black square… Sorry about that.

I’m afraid I don’t fully understand.
August 1, 2010 at 4:0 1
Hi, I have been suffering sleep paralasis on and off as long as I can remember, But latley I now suffer from it at least 2 times a month, the last time it happened I was sleeping on my side and could feel the shape of someones hand and talking right in my ear, I was trying my hardest to cringe away from the person but they knew I could not move and the voice sounded demonic, all I could do was to scream with much force I screamed my self awake and stared brushing away at my face to rid the feeling of the hand and voice. I feel scared at the time but for some reason, I want to learn more. I have also experienced a hooded figure driving a steel rod thru the top of my head and I experience a white light forming like i am dying and I can feel myself taking my last breath and then the hooded figure pulls the rod out and brings me back to life…this also happens during sleep paralasis, i feel so embarrassed having such aweful dreams but now that I have found this blog I don’t feel so ashamed now.
August 1, 2010 at 4:0 1
Thank you for your comment. Certainly there is no cause for embarrassment or shame. The images you describe are very intriguing. You might ask the hooded figure if (s)he wants to impart some information to you.
A very good website that looks at sleep paralysis from the purely physical point of view is Ryan Hurd’s Dream Portal.
The difference in his point of view and mine is that I don’t believe that the mind is located entirely in the brain. The mind (consciousness) creates the brain, not vice versa. However it is possible to lose yourself in this, in which case it is better to back off a bit.

I thought I was going mad or something when this kind of thing happened to me. Vibrations, sensations of putting my ‘hand’ through walls/carpets/windows. Sensations of rushing up or intense rocking, bouncing around the room, being in a different room, seeing through closed eyes ect. I just don’t know what to make of it. Is this all just the product of the human brain, or is there something more spiritual at work? I can’t decide if it’s simply a lucid dream or I really am projecting at least a part of my conciousness! I wish I knew. At least I am far from alone in this. I bet doctors would say it’s all in the mind and we are depressed/stressed/ill. I don’t tend to agree. I don’t think they know what they are dealing with. Maybe it’s part of a mass spiritual awakening/ascension?
August 3, 2010 at 4:0 1
Dear Sam,
There clearly is a purely physical side to this- sleep paralysis. That doesn’t man that’s all there is to it. Why not test yourself when you are “out of body” by checking the placement of random items in the rooms you visit against where they are when you are physically. Also I again recommend reading “Journeys Out of Body” by Robert Monroe.
Thanks for the comment,

i have wrote u before on july 26and july 30 in that i have said that i stopped seeing such dreams.can you give a reason for this?last year ihad a lot to study and slept very late.so much mental tensions were there.do you think i saw such scary things bcz of mental tensions.or is it some psychological problem?
one dayat night my sister show me shaking//shivering with my hands arond my chest.she said”your whole body was shaking.i called you.but didnt wake up”she got afraid by seeing this.
my mom recently told me that my grandfather at about 2:00amused to make wild sounds .he says that it was really irritating(that condition).the amazing fact is that once someone touch him(just a touch)he would stop making sounds.one day a relative of him slept(alone) in bed in which he usaully sieep……..she too made that wild sound.she said”that creature migt have thought i was him”……..
but noone gives much care to this things.they thinkits just some misbeleifs about wild creatures. my mom said that “the lady made the sounds bcz she already knew about my grandpa doing such things.its all in her unconscious mind.”
i dont have much gutts to ask much about those things since i feel shameful.
do you think i see such things bcz we want to see ourself as someone different.
i forgot….my such dreams start with whirling of the roof…..roof?can i see through my eyelids?….its like fainting.
or am i just imaginig that iam seeing it.
(sometime i even feel frightened to sleep or close my eyes)
**another thing is that when i saw ‘that’ i used to open my eyes with great effort somehow.but again the things will come, once i close my eyes.i found after many days that i could fight that off if i sleep upside down on my stomach.but later(manydays after) thogh i lay with my face down it comes and scare me.why?
why did i stop seeing it???
can u pleaseeee answer me???
August 8, 2010 at 4:0 1
Dear Sadi,
Certainly I can say there is no reason that I can see for you to feel shameful. But I cannot tell you why you have stopped experiencing the things you described. As I’ve mentioned before there are many who believe that sleep paralysis is a purely physical phenomena. It certainly does have a practical physical reason. I myself believe there can be more to the experience. No one but you can tell you what your experience really means to you.
Thanks for the comments,
Fahrusha

September 15, 2010 at 4:0 1
Hi. I have been reading your posts and I never reply to these things but now I have something to add here and would like to share my own experience with this issue/phenomenon.
From the time I was young, around ten I would have these visitations, in my teens and early 20’s the sleep paralysis thing where I was aware, eyes wide open but could not move my body but could feel my spirit force outside of it, became quite frequent. I felt their strong presence beside me or in my room and I could hear them breathe even at times if it was real quiet (I held mine to make sure it was not me and it scared the crap out of me). It was quite the effort on my part to come back to control over my body. Well it got pretty bad and one day I got help.
It does not happen anymore because I learned where it came from, what it was, and once I went through the process of renouncing any kind of involvement with witchcraft, and through prayer, as well as turning my gifts over to the one who created them in the first place, accepted Jesus into my heart and received total protection, now I do damage to the enemy.
Yes, they are demons and they cling to people everywhere. The biggest lie is that they are aliens, do not believe this lie. The world is setting the stage to fool many, be aware and seek the truth in everything.
September 16, 2010 at 4:0 1
Thank you for your comment. The issue of “demons” is an interesting one. There are those who think that UFOs in our skies are the work of “demons” and that these “demons” are using the Earth as a farm for souls, and that when a person dies their soul is harvested by the “demons”. I put the word “demons” in quotes because of a lack of agreed upon definition here. What exactly is a demon? If we define a demon as an inter-dimensional or other dimensional being whose motives may be contrary to what we believe to be the best interests of humanity, I do indeed think that “demons” may exist.
October 26, 2010 at 4:0 1
First of all, I’d like to say I read Ryan Hurd’s work yesterday before bumping into your site and I find both your views interesting. Anyway, I’d like to know what you think about the experience I had yesteray. Here goes:
About a month ago, I saw a guy on a popular TV show here talk about UFO’s phenomenons associated to it. What really got me thinking is when he proposed that these where actually interdimentional beings coming to visit us (reminded me of the Art Bell show recording in “Faaip de Oiad” by TOOL by the way). This got me searching about multiverses, elevated dimensions, CERN and the sort. This made me reconsider a lot of the beliefs I previously had. Then yesterday, this happened :
I was having a dream I was with my son and a girl I met one day at the beach (in real life). I’d like to add that I’ve never seen this girl after that day, but something clicked. Anyway, on the beach, playing and suddenly… lets say to the south… a nuclear explosion happens. I grab my son and the hand of the girl and start running north, then another explosion happens. I realise that we are doomed and wake up sitting straight in my bed. This is where the SP happens : Suddenly, the light starts to go black, as if someone turned a dimer slowly off for the ambiant light. At the same time, I feel swept on my back, seemingly from forces on both side of me. This kind of felt as if I was on a dentist’s chair as my legs seem to uplift from my sheets (I’d like to add that my legs felt kind of jerked at some times during my experience). I kind of feel surprised but calm by all this and voices faintly announce to me that ‘’I am not ready and that they are going to fix me up » (anyway, « me préparer » in french). This is when what you call « running energy occurs. I just want to add that I had a hard time breathing and sounded kind of like a pig sometimes during this episode. I didn’t quite understand what was happening to me but something scared me… I heard a cough.. I mean a real loud cough, not faint whispers. Then something touches my hand and I even hear « microwave oven » like beeping on the other side of me. I start panicking as I cannot even see through the whole process. Anyway, the whole experience seemed to last at least 20 minutes before my alarm clock kicks in and the light comes back in my eyes in a flash.
Anyway, any insight, comments and opinions would be greatly apreciated. Sorry for my english by the way, lost a lot of it.
October 29, 2010 at 4:0 1
Dear Pierre,
Your English is very good. Thank you so much for sharing your very interesting experience. I really respect the work Ryan Hurd is doing with dreams. Basically I agree with him on many counts and probably most times sleep paralysis is just that, a biological safeguard to keep one’s body still during the dream state.
It is difficult to judge anyone else’s experience but yours does read like that of a person who has recently seen a UFO and has had a “contact experience”. The oddest part is that you saw the UFO only on TV and not in person. The doomsday-like dream that preceded the sleep paralysis experience is also typical. The girl in the dream is interesting from a psychic point of view. Was she remembered simply because she was attractive or struck a chord? Or perhaps she is someone you have known on a soul level.
October 29, 2010 at 4:0 1
I didn’t any UFO’s on TV tough, just a guy on a show like lets say David letterman. Altought I did see some UFO’s near a military base here about a year ago with one of my friends. Just read alot on the net, and hypothesized on how could relegion, UFO’s and the world as a whole could be working. Anyway’s, i’m starting to look up on the pineal gland wich seems to have a lot to do with the phenomenon. Everything i’m reading just seems linked. I’d like to say I consider myself an atheist, but all these things are starting to baffle me. As for the girl altought she was attractive, the connection I sensed when I met her was really more than physical attraction.
Why do you think I couldn’t see?? This doesn’t seem to corrolate with SP.
Thank you for reading.
October 26, 2010 at 4:0 1
I forgot to add that I took a shower afterwards and felt a presence even then and I could swear I heard “he doesn’t think we follow him” in a surpised tone. This immediatly got me thinking about my mom wich always tells me she is sending her angels to guide me. At that moment, I felt intense inner peace and even the light seemed to be brighter.
Tought this could be interesting also.

It is my opinion that there are often other beings surrounding us who are vibrating at a different rate than we are and are therefore invisible to our eyes. Some would call them disembodied entities. I’m sure I am not explaining this scientifically, but you get the idea. 🙂
Thanks.

I’m only turning 16 and I’ve been experiencing these sleeping paralysis for almost 2years but I’ve never had anything to bad.. Just like having them in my dreams or waking up to them. Once in my dream I felt myself being pulled off the bed as if I was awake, then when I snapped out I was lightly lifted back up. I’ve had a few experiences. Its scary.. I’ve heard many theorys but I honestly don’t know why I’m having these.

Hi Aleana,
Thank you for your comment. Personally, I too started having sleep paralysis at a very early age. I think you may want to keep a diary of your sleep experiences including dreams and sleep paralysis. Sadly, I cannot tell you the “whys” of this phenomena. I think that sometimes there is more to this than a simple survival response of the body.
Best wishes,
Fahrusha

like manyone here i too first thought it was some devil activities done on me.but now i realised its nothing evil.
but is due to disordered sleep wake cycle and due to mental tension.
sleep when you are sleeping.dont sleep while studying.

hi, i have just stumbled across your site and was reading some of the stories posted, im so glad to have found people who understand to some degree of what you yourself are experiencing. i have been having these dreams, abductions or sleep paralysis, sleep paralasyis does not work for me as i can say goodnigh and ten seconds later im vortexing upwards violently and i am paralized but definatly concious, i know for sure whatever i am experiencing is not a dream. i started having these experiences at 7, that was what i now believe to be the starting point of it all, i was having a very real dream or at least what i believed to be a dream, this old creepy man was looking at me i was terrified by him, he was calling me over not with his voice but with his eyes, i knew i shouldnt go, at that point i wake, i am shaking and scared, finally fall back to dream and fell straight back into it, but this time when he called i went, the last thing i remember was taking his hand. i then never had any more until i was twelve and then they continued weekly sometimes a couple of months would go by and have none, i am now 39 and still continue to have them. a few times i have seen figures and they always appear with three of them one either side of me and one in the middle im on my back and the two on the sides are holding my legs appart. any comments, advice would be greatly appreciated, dont know whats going on with me but would sure like to try and find out.
December 10, 2010 at 4:0 1
Dear Tracey,
Thanks for your comments. Wondering if you experience vibrations at the onset of these experiences? “Vortexing” sounds like you do.
My theory is that “others”, interdimensional or interstellar, use the biological state of sleep paralysis for their own ends. Sometimes they communicate with us, sometimes other things happen. Bear in mind that “they” may not all be members of the same group.

So your article is very interesting! i have recently been very interested in lucid dreaming which is pretty much becoming fully aware in your dreams ( at which point you are able to experiment with the sub-consious and also with imagination). the way i have been able to do this is by falling asleep physically but maintaining conciousness as i do so. I then go into this state that you are explaining where i can feel/hear a loud vibration which i can somewhat control if i focus on it. I can make it get louder or as soft i want to the point where i can barely feel/hear it. and ususally thats when i will have a dream, or OOBE since they always seem to start from me waking up from my bed. I realize i have entered a dream or a different dimension and the first couples of times i would get over excited and everything would shake and i would wake up immedietly. But after about two and a half weeks of exploring with this i have had three very lucid and aware dreams or OOBE’s. In these i have been able to engage all five sences, try to fly but it seems i am only able to glide at the moment (probably due to me not being that imaginative or just to being new to this and needing to work on dream control). I am really interested in finding out if this is a mind state in which you do enter a spiritual real? in all 3 of my dreams or OOBE”s i have not seen any other beings or even people i know for that fact. I would really like to meet one of these and have a long hour long conversation about life and its meaning! you can read my three dreams in a site called dreamviews dot com. my name is youngjedi, and they are posted in my dream journal there. I am very glad i ran into your post! Thanks!

Dear German,
Thank you for your comment. You have a similar concept about lucid dreaming versus OBEs. If the journey begins at my bedside in my room I think of it as an OBE. I believe that these states are related. When one is pulled out of body by an entity one can experience very violent vibrations. From experience I can tell you that this is often unpleasant and frightening. As the saying goes, “be careful of what you wish for.”

I have experienced something similar as far as this strange vibration goes. I can’t explain it either. so weird!! But it happened many years ago on my livingroom sofa. It would happen in the evening when I would lie down on the sofa. I would close my eyes and then this vibration in my head would start. Then it would get stronger and stronger until I would open my eyes. then it would stop. My eyes where like the on/off switch. (I never was asleep, or dreaming, on any drug or alcohol, if case you wondering.) I experimented with this night after night to see if I could continue with my eyes closed for as long as I could. But the vibration would just get stronger and stronger until I had no choice but to open my eyes. I was never falling asleep or anything. Just so weird. Never heard anything like this on TV or somewhere!! just so weird. But there is one other person who did experience the same thing. It is my ex-husband. Only after I left him years ago, that he called me a year later to ask me if I had experienced this vibration in the head. I have never experience this again. so it only happen when I lived at that house and on that particular sofa. Can’t explain what that is or i cannot find a logical explaination to it. Have you ever heard of anything like this? let me know. thanks
January 19, 2011 at 4:0 1
I not only have heard of the vibration but have experienced it. It is often a prelude to an Out of Body Experience (OBE). I’m a little suspicious of that house and the room that the sofa was in, given your ex and you only seem to have had the experience there. I am reticent to say this, but perhaps someone or thing was attempting to pull you out of body. Many people work hard at trying to have an OBE. It can be frightening if something seems to be pushing you out, but OBEs can be rewarding when wanted.

I all share the same kind off dreams. 1st was during the ending of 08 in dec mid dec to be exact. I saw myself sleeping and a black shadow type thing looking at me i thought it was trying to get in my so rushed to get in m body. i woke up all of the sudden. I was out of breath and tired. After i would have dreams where I would be paralyzed, frozen where i would scream m way out. 2nd i was sleeping it was around 2-3am i woke up and saw someone on my computer chair i think i said”who is there” next thing i knew these two black shadow tyype thing just came and sat on so fast one sat on stomach and holded my arms down with its knees, the other was choking mi while sitting on my chest. I praed my way out of there. Being an indian Sikh i thought it was some sort of balck magic. i became a little religious. since then i had no problems i eventually stopped praying and went about like it never happened untill jan17, 2011 around 3:15 am I felt that uninvited presence and i was paralyzed again and this time I was dragged from one side out the bed to the other side i also felt like someone was there saying something. I just closed my eyes and prayed again. So after that i googled it and saw i wasn’t the only person with this kinda issue.
any tips?
Location California bay area to be exact.
thanks

Dear Aman,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It is good for all of us that experience this sort of thing to know that we are not alone. Our fear seems to make things worse. September 2009 I had my most recent BIG encounter. Three times in one night at home in my bed I felt the paralysis and twice I managed to fight it off. I was terrified. The third time it got to me and took me to a place where I was shown certain things and told some information. I was not harmed. The important fact that is missing here is whether everyone who experiences this is experiencing visitations from the same group of entities (aliens?) or different groups of beings.
Also when I have gone out of body at the Monroe Institute I went out of body willingly, the vibrations are milder. When being pulled out of body one becomes terrified and the vibrations are stronger, I assume to counter the the will of the individual who doesn’t want to go.
Best,
Fahrusha

I have noticed a concurrent theme with sofas. I too usually have the vibrations on my sofa. I used to think my sofa was magic. Aman, I sympathize with you. Your experiences do seem scary, however I am 100% convinced that you won’t ever come to any harm physically, no matter how scared you might feel. I feel like I am dying when this happens sometimes but I am lucky as in I can break the paralysis without too much difficulty.
Modern scientific theories/research are saying we are a holographic projection and matter really is an illusion. We are all made of atoms, but when you weight an atom, it’s weightless! How does that work then? If you weigh 100 things that have zero mass, the whole weight should be zero! It’s so confusing and being a simple human, I can’t comprehend it and perhaps I shouldn’t even be trying. But I was given an enquiring mind. What can I do? I wish I were a simpleton who liked nothing more than to watch the clouds roll by and think naught of it and just accept life. But I continue to read and seek answers and question why am I here? What is my purpose? I seem so pointless. Am I a pointless mistake? I was not a wanted child so am I just an wanted bi-product of a careless human sex act? Or is there more to it? Answers on a postcard please.
I do know that fear is our greatest barrier. Get rid of the fear and the experiences can become pleasurable. We are all meant to have guides or spiritual helpers looking out for us, but perhaps sometimes we need to fight the battle of fear on our own as part of our learning here on earth. I have often asked my ‘guide’ (not that I have ever encountered any kind of other entity whilst in sleep paralysis/lucid dreaming state) to please not let this happen during my night’s sleep, as I started to dread going to bed because of the awakenings and feelings of say for example my legs rising up, or my entire body being transported across the room, and always the fear. It did stop for a while, started again, then now it hasn’t happened for a while. I know though if I take a deep nap on the sofa I will come around to those oh so familiar bodily vibrations and the weird out of body sensations that follow. I feel scared, but that goes once I wake up. Something to do with not using certain parts of our brain perhaps? I don’t know. All I do know is that SOMETHING is out there, and there is something after death. Hopefully all will be revealed upon crossing over. To all that experience this, let us try and overcome our fear and ask the spirit world for guidance and for them to look out for us. I tell myself I cannot be harmed, and what I am experiencing is a product of my own mind (the power of thought etc) if I were to leave my body, I would be able to return safely. I seem to experience a ‘stretching of consciousness’ rather than a full separation. It is very strange, but when I feel the vibrations getting stronger and a strange numb feeling sets in, I feel like this is the time I will actually have a full blown OBE, so I will myself to break it and wake up because I am too scared. The fear must not win because one day we will all face our time to die, and I want to face it with joy and love in my being (I would say heart but spirits technically don’t have hearts) I do not want to be afraid. Life is a mystifying puzzle and I think sometimes we need to clear our minds, think positive thoughts and commune with our guides, even if we cannot see, hear or sense them. You never know, they just might be listening.
The message I get from two years of studying spiritualism is simply Love. We are here for love. Go figure! It’s hard to love those who abuse us. Perhaps if we could love and forgive those who wrong us we might not have to come back to earth again! Hmmmm the human race as a whole is way off that just yet.

Great insight Sam… Maybe our weight is merely the burden we carry in this life in order to get further enlightenment later on. I’m just flabergastered that everyone here (almost) is experiencing this on almost a daily basis… It happened to me only once and it already started to define me in a whole other way.
On another note, on my research on the subject, I stumbled upon the work of Rick Strassman. I would like to know the opinion of people posting here on his work…
January 27, 2011 at 4:0 1
Dear Sam,
As Pierre says below, most do come back unscathed but it can be terrifying when one has no volition over one’s being. Because we normally live in the physical world it takes an act of faith to visualize the Quantum world or the world in which all physical matter blinks in and out of existence in microseconds.I think it is good to try and comprehend all this as best we can. By looking at life from the macro view we become less petty.

Haven’t posted in a while… but the SP phenomenon didn’t happen to me in a while (in fact only happened once). But lately, I’ve been sensing odd thing in my appartement. I don’t know, I sometimes feel my hair lift straigth up on my head and feel a sense of urgency or danger. Does anybody have some input on this?
I’m just astonished by the way things fell together right after my experience… My life changed completely, things that seemed impossible just happened (started seeing my son on a regular basis as en example).
January 27, 2011 at 4:0 1
Dear Pierre,
It is true that some folks say that they have sleep paralysis and go OOB all the time. Sleep paralysis, the physical process, does happen to most of us every night while we are ASLEEP. And how often do we go out of body and not realize it? I’m not sure.
I’m not surprised to read that your life changed as a result. Mine has too as a result of communications received from other beings during some of my SP and OOBs. If we look at the world’s religions, what were the revelations that their founders experienced?
Yet sometimes the experiences are horrifying. It is a mystery that deserves our attention.

Thank god for the internet.I’m glad to know that I am not alone anymore. This first happened to me 6 yrs. ago and has occured more frequently since then.At first I would hear this loud sound of an airplane in my head then I would feel my body shaking and at sometimes lifting.I would scream and yell at the top of lungs and no one could hear me.I was terrified and didn’t know what to do but pray for god to help me at that point I wasn’t afraid and those sound and feelings went away, and when I woke up I thought I was loosing my mind.Thank God for this blog.Is their a meaning for these expeirences?I am so curiuos to know more.
February 19, 2011 at 4:0 1
Dear Leila,
I liked your last comment: I am curious to know more. Well so am I. One thing for sure is that these experiences can shake up one’s concept of reality. From what you have told me, you do not indicate any recall of what you experienced after being terrified and screaming. Dou you remember anything more? Has your life been changed by these experiences or have there been any differences that you have noticed since this first happened?
We are all explorers here.
Thanks for your comment.

Hi! I just happened to have stumbled across the thread bc I have had these experiences my whole life and have been terrified of them and could not find anyone who could relate to them. Just a few examples:
When I was a teen, I had my first lucid dream but it quickly turned for the worst. I was in a field walking with someone I can’t remember but I felt as if I was being showed something.Almost immediately the whole world turn to a sepia color. I picked a flower off the ground and the leaves fell from it in my hands. I had the sense that I had entered another world then I realized i was dreaming… almost immediately I was in a classroom and was sitting behind myself. Shocked i tapped myself on the shoulder and it turned around but had a mouth full of green goooey stuff where there should have been teeth. All of a sudden I had a sense that I was falling. Like I was falling through the floor but almost like thru dimensions.through stories and I fell back in my room but hit the floor beside my bed but I was trying to get in bed bc thats where I felt my body was. I layed there, but could not wake up. All of a sudden a white like cloud appeared on my wall and someone i couldn’t see but seemed familiar put a finger to my forehead and said “you know better”. I didn’t know them, but their voice spoke in such a tone as if they knew me! and I fell back on the bed and was THEN able to wake up. It was so real, I woke up and couldn’t fall back to sleep.
Whats shocking is that I remember feeling more tired then ever like I had not been asleep at all. I felt as if I had been “awake”
for the whole experience.
Sincerely, Taylor
March 11, 2011 at 4:0 1
Dear Taylor,
Thank you for sharing that truly interesting lucid dream. The “being” that appeared toward the end and spoke to you could have been anything from an interdimensional being to your higher self or a thought form. No one can judge but you and perhaps it is best viewed as an open question if you are not sure who it was.
Best,
Fahrusha

i share a similar dream as you. i would like to ask some question. the thing that talked to you did you fully understand it and how it did look did you see it. In my dream the thing looked burned stuff was falling from it (you know like when you your burn paper it became white ash type before falling down) and it talked to me in a different language i didn’t understand the language sounded like Arabic or Latin.
March 30, 2011 at 4:0 1
o.k. so I haven’t posted or read this page for a while. The simple reason is that I stopped having SP (after like two episodes with one very distinct). But I feel the need to ask your opinion on what I am living right now.
If you read my first entry, I dreamed about a nuclear explosions right before having my big SP experience. I didn’t mention, but in my dream three distinct explosions followed by the sensation of nowhere to go. Since the Fukushima incident, I can’t seem to get this out of my head. I just have a gut feeling that this is far from over (even though a nuclear explosion is out of the question).
Am I being paranoid or should I learn from this (or both.. lol)?
Thanks for your input!
March 31, 2011 at 4:0 1
Hi Pierre,
I do not think you are being paranoid. Sadly, I think that the Fukushima incidenti is a horrific nightmare that will be polluting the Earth for thousands of years. I have been so saddened by the environmental tragedies in the news that I have found it difficult to write this blog recently. It is not my desire to write about doom and gloom but that is what I see right now. It is amazing to me how asleep or numb many seem to be. I will add a link here at a later time. We should all use this as an inspiration to close nuclear power plants in our country and around the world. This is what is happening in Germany. The Greens are giving Angela Merkel a difficult time due to her support for nuclear energy.

Well im not saying i got abducted or im not shure but heres my story about sleep paralysis :
i rememeber i was 7 and i slept in a closet in my moms room the closet was big enough to fit a bed so i slept there .i remember it was around 2 or 3 a.m and i wokeup that night and looked around the room but i couldnt move my body or my head i could only move my eyes and i heard this realy scary screaming that came from a woman like if they were killing her i couldnt see anything like a figure or something i could only hear her scream i tried calling my mom but i could speak i started to panic alot and started to sweat i still couldnt move it was like that for like 7 minutes and that woman wouldnt stop screaming and i realy realy scared and all i remember is falling back to sleep i told my mom the next dayy and told me i had a nightmare but i knew that wasnt true because i was awake and i heard the woman scream and cry like if she was in pain clearly …my second sleep paralysis was when i was 14 that was like 3 months ago i had gone and slept with my mom at her room because my dad was working late that niight i slept in the floor and my brothers slept in the bed with her it was around 2 a.m and i remember waking up because somebody was calling my name that sound like coming from outside my moms roomdoor it sounded like a old mans voice but he was calling me wih a soft voice he called me two times after does to times i couldnt move i could only move my eyes i couldnt move my head and i couldnt call my mom again and after he called my name i heard the same woman cry outloud like if she was in pain i started to panic alot and i started breathing realy hard and i tried to force my self to make a noise so my mom would here me untill i kept breathing hard that she wokeup andcalled my name loud …i fell back to sleep like 20 minutes later and i was wokeup again and i couldnt move again but this time i got out of it by forcing my head to move it takes alot of effort to do it ..and the weird thing is that everytime i get out of the sleep paralysis i feel pressure and a vibration in my head like if something is pushing me back in to my body and i could see my self laying down and at the same time im back in my body its weird im scared and it scares my because i was 7 when it first happend and it happen again at 14 what if it happens again when im 21 wat if it happens every seven years …my dad used to get sleep paralysis alot when he was around my age the last time he got it was like 7 months ago but he would dream about people telling him something he also dreams alot about the stars and he has scary dreams when he has sleep paralysis and he cant get out his dream unless my mom wakes him up but my dad dreams but im awake and i hear stuff i just cant see whos calling my name or what woman is screaming or what are they doing to her she scares me when she crys i need help to why i heard her cry like that and why i can hear but i cant see anything… Could it be that aliens have tried to abduct me through my spirit but they cant or is that even possible …thanx and hope i get a responce back
April 29, 2011 at 4:0 1
Dear Briony,
Thank you for relating your very interesting experience. I cannot say what exactly it is that you experienced. Not all sleep paralysis is alien abduction. As you are a minor it is probably best that you speak about these events with your father who has also had sleep paralysis. The very positive truth that I can share with you here is that although sleep paralysis can be quite frightening, no one to my knowledge has ever been permanently harmed or died from it. I’d be happy to discuss it further with your parents’ permission.

I have spoked with my dad about it but he also dosent know what to say
June 27, 2011 at 4:0 1
Im 17 and i’ve been experiencing SP ever since i was young. when i was about 11-12 years of age i experienced my first SP i was laying there and i couldnt move or scream out to my mum. i could hear a man going AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA in the background the freaked me out, what was he laughing at lol. anyway after that it happened again 20minutes later this time he was speaking arabic or something it sounded arabic. My dad is from algeria and they speak arabic so that might be connected. for about 4 years i didint get SP then one night i was sleeping my cat woke me up meowing for no reason then as i try to go back to sleep it was pretty hard, eventually SP came into play, i think the cat played a role in this part i dont know why he’s never woke me up before only on that night. I then started expereincing SP on and off some times every second day or once a month, big gaps or small gaps i got used to it and everytime it happened i just try to break out an eventually just fall asleep. I stumbled upon this page because i have not had sleep paralysis since I started meditating which was about a year ago. Yesterday i bought a amethyst crystal this crystal has qualities related to dreaming and imagination, anyways i cleansed the crystal put in my room then off to bed i went. while trying to go to sleep i experienced Sp again this was surprising i have not had it in one year. this sp experience i had my eyes open and i could hear a sound like (eeeeeeeeeeeeee) getting loud then as it reached its max sound i heard and felt a small explosion in my brain followed by a small visualisation of a yellow light. after that disappeared it felt as if someone was touching my chest not applying pressure but chest holding it. I tried fighting and moving then realised i should just lay there, eventually i stopped i move around the fell asleep with ease. next morning i woke up sweating it is winter atm in sydney australia. so after that experience i had a sudden urge that these experiences could be used positively if i wasnt so scared. i then found this article and i was like woaaaaaaah next time it happens ill try give out love instead of fear
btw before go to bed and lay there when i look around i see tons of blue light specs everywhere sometimes the whole room seems to be covered in these making everything seem liquid instead solid its like everything is water. just right now as im writing this i can see blue specs of light they are starting to become more intense
this whole life thing is starting to trip me out lol everything is starting to make sense but still not make sense at the same time
oo yeah after the last sp expereince i had yesterday my cat came and slept with me

Thank you for sharing your experience. I do believe that the experiences can be positive and I think you are approaching them in a good proactive manner. Your cat sounds like a wonderful, protective companion.

Hi, My name is Alie & I’m an American girl whose suffered from sleep paralysis for over 7 years. I mentioned to a couple doctors through the years what I’m experiencing, but all have simply shrugged it off because of their lack of knowledge & disbelief in what I’m saying. I have gone through a couple sleep studies as well, which proved inconclusive. I can’t find any answers…
I feel with every ounce of blood in my body that my night terrors are caused by something evil & no matter what I do or say, it is relentless. My episodes are increasingly worse & longer lasting. Last night, for the first time, I felt the presence of something extra-terresrial.
It was unlike any other SP episode, only comparable by the actual paralyzing feeling. I heard extremely loud buzzing & sirens & I felt surrounded. I was being held down yet felt like I was elevating. Then I felt a cold pressure on the top of my head, almost like a tube was being inserted or something but it wasnt painful. I was just terrified. I don’t know how else to describe what happened next & I don’t want to share at this time anyway. I just want to know if anyone else has felt that exactly. When I came out of it, my legs were so numb that I couldnt even stand. And still at this moment, over 12 hours later, I can still feel that cold pressure on the top of my head.
What the hell?

Dear Alie,
It would be difficult for me to give you any other definitive advice other than what has already been stated in the comments above. I don’t know your age, but suspect you are a teenager. You are several steps ahead of where I was at that age, because people, even in psychic organizations, simply intimated that I was crazy. Reading the other comments here you can see that there are many others, including me, who have experienced similar if not the same experiences. Ryan Hurd has some interesting ideas on how to prevent sleep paralysis which you could try if you’d like.

In addition,:
What led me to your blog was that it correlates sleep paralysis with alien abductions by readers stories & I just wanted to find a glimpse of an explanation. Like I said, my usual SP episodes are completely different. And again, I’ve never in my life felt like what I was experiencing was anything to do with aliens, but I just have that overwhelming sick feeling that last night was something like an alien abduction or something…I don’t know exactly. It was just different & I’m terrified. Please help.
Thank you…

Dear Alie,
What you are experiencing sounds very scary indeed. Doctors can’t or won’t understand it because it is outside of their realms of ability. Might I suggest some possible helpful reading for you? You may find Custodians: Beyond Abduction by Delores Cannon of some assistance. I don’t think you are meant to remember these things. No aliens will cause you any physical harm. It could be true that it is really happening to you, or it could be what I call ‘brain trickery’. I have had many, crazy experiences and it is amazing at how the brain can fool you into believing things are happening when they are not – but that doesn’t mean you are not experiencing a real event. Have you considered hypnotherapy? I think talking and sharing your SP is vital to your well-being. I do believe no harm will ever come to us physically during these episodes, but they are still scary. We are not supposed to wake up during sleep in this way. I wish you well and remember, you are not in any physical danger and no harm will ever come to you. Try to bear that in mind during these episodes. Also before sleep, imagine you are surrounded by protective, white light. I even asked in the name of Jesus for help! I am not religious but I have to admit, I haven’t had a night-time SP episode since!
August 15, 2011 at 4:0 1
Hey Sam.
I really appreciate each & every word you said, thanks for talking to me! Like you said, these episodes get so scary sometimes & feel so real it’s hard not to think something horrid is going to happen to you…So just you reminding me to remember that no physical danger or harm will ever come to me during SP, is actually what makes me feel so much better that I dont feel afraid to go to sleep tonight & I havent felt at peace with the idea of sleeping in years! I will remember to feel the protective light too, that advice really helps as well. You have no idea how much your response helps me, Thank you so much…from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Alie. =)

Dear Sam,
P.S. – In response to your question, yes, I have considered hypnotherapy, just so I can go back & find out what’s actually going on during these episodes. So many other crazy experiences in SP have left me questioning reality & my insanity, I just need to know the truth. If I end up going, I’ll let you know what happens. In the meantime, If you think of anything else, let me know! I left my email for you to reach me.
Thanks again,
Alie.

I too have been wondering about sleep paralysis for years. I am 23 now but can still remember being in 8th grade and having that feeling like I couldn’t move..I also remember seeing a dark colored figure sitting on the edge of the bed because when I woke up I was really freaked out about it..still somewhat now too. I couldnt see what the figure looked like and that’s the only time I remember seeing one, however, I’ve had other sleep paralysis moments over the years. Very strange phenomenon as I am a healthy individual!

Dear Taylor, Thanks for your comment. These things often happen to healthy people. Just remember to surround yourself with a protective light cocoon if this recurs and you are frightened.

Thank you for these posts. I have been experiencing these head tremor/vibrations for as long as I can remember (in my adult life). I have asked most people I know and have not had anyone really relate to these so it is amazing to see so many experiences from around the globe on the topic. I have considered myself an extremely spiritual person though not connected completely to one discipline; Christian more than any other though.
I mention this because I connect these experiences to spiritual phenom. from a more Christian point of view. They had always felt like evil visitations and they always come when I am stressed, angry or sad about an occurrence or series of occurrences. At times, I won’t be conscious of my stress until after I have the occurrence. I had not heard too many people mention this and I wonder if anyone had noticed this being a factor for their sp as well…
My head vibrates uncomfortably and I have different kinds of “hallucinations”, from voices, once an evil feeling dark cloud, last night, something pillar-like and dark standing by the bed. Once I had a dream with what seemed to be witches that seemed to have a warning I felt I understood very clearly, headed the warning and ended that particular episode. One dream was of destruction, much like what the young man described above. Once, I lived in a place where there was “history” and I had visitations from recently passed ancestors seemingly having a message for their kin still present (and for me as well, I felt.)
Only a few times had I had pleasant “visitation” experiences. Most recently, I heard the voice of my recently deceased father telling me he was happy where he was. I had just exercised an act of huge forgiveness concerning someone we both love. Last night while having my experience, I thought to myself, who do I need to forgive and a couple names came to mind.
Fahrusha, I so appreciate the idea of the further inquiry. I am alway so scared, I immediately exercise getting out of the situation and this I am getting better and better at with experience. (It begins with calling out the name of Jesus, sometimes having to pry my mouth open with a hand I struggle to move to do this.) Last night I incorporated a meditation technique I recently have begun to practice (irregularly) and this is deliberate breathing and consciously matching a Holy Spirit vibration. I also appreciate your suggestion of requesting protection during sleep before drifting off to sleep. Thank you again for your posting, I have searched for a long time to find others who experienced this and get their methods of working through this.

Dear Winna, I am the one asking for forgiveness today for not responding sooner! Your experiences are quite interesting especially since, as you say, they are spiritual in nature. I have had meaningful dreams of deceased persons, both relatives and not, but they were not connected with the buzzing and sleep paralysis.
I hope more investigations go forward on these subjects and I’d like to participate in them. Surrounding myself in an orb of light has often been helpful in having better dreams.
Best,
Fahrusha

Hello all,
At a time of such fear and uncertainty over my experiences, it truly is a tremendous relief to see that so many people have similar stories to tell. Some of the language and phrasing I have used to attempt to describe the things I have experienced to my friends and family are coming up in all of your recollections of your events. From the vibrations, to the pressure on your chest holding you down, to the rising legs and sense of weightlessness…it’s as if you took the words right out of my mouth.
My first experience was the most terrifying, until recently. While sleeping on my couch, I heard a hushed voice and was suddenly aroused from my sleep, only I had no control whatsoever of my body. I felt an incredible force on my chest, and my breathing was extremely labored. Panicking, I looked around, seeing no one. I tried to scream but was unable to produce a sound. I eventually succumbed to this force, and accepted what I deemed at the time to be death, as if someone was squeezing the life out of me. Instantly, I woke, gasping for air. I shot off the couch, and screamed “WHO IS THERE?” several times before running around my basement, looking for some friend or family member playing a practical joke. No one was there.
My next experience was in Texas a couple years later. I woke from a dream where a girl I reconnected with while visiting there had made me a CD for my plane trip back to Illinois. When I woke, I found that I could not move my legs, nor any part of my body. I don’t know if I was actually physically able to move my head, but I was able to look down at my feet. I felt an underlying vibration that ran smoothly from head to toe. Soon after becoming aware of the state I was in, I felt as though my body was starting to toss, as if laying on a raft admist a slow moving current. I then experienced the sensation that my legs were raising above the level of my head, and I watched as the floor that was once beneath my back, came beneath my front. When I felt as though a full circle had been completed, my “eyes” drifted back asleep. I woke almost instantly, and called the girl I had dreamed about to tell her what happened. She told me she had just burned me a CD for the plane trip home.
I’ve recently been having more occurences of lucid dreams, which I think was the turning point to what has happened the past couple nights. I dreamed of walking the halls of a dark library, picking up books at will and reading lines from several passages. I was able to recall the content of the books when I woke up.
Three days ago, while taking a nap, I dreamed I was in the courtyard of some medieval church. I laid down on the ground to rest against a rock, and I found my eyes being drawn to a tall statute that protruded from a fountain in the center of the courtyard. As my gaze made its way up the statue, I started to hear a faint buzz and feel the slightest vibration. A pressure grew in my head as the buzzing and vibration grew in intensity. I found that the higher my gaze climbed on the statue, the more intense the noise/vibration/pressure was getting. When I reached the top of the statue, a figure I am not able to recollect at the time, the feeling was overwhelming. At this point, I opened my eyes. The buzzing/vibration/pressure persisted, and I watched from above as my body seemed to sink down in the couch where it was laying. The dream never really disappeared, it was as if I was watching a television with a seperate picture in the corner of the screen, the seperate picture being the dream I was having. I felt that the presence of the statute was a holy one, and as the sensations overpowering my body grew, I felt that I was experiencing the power of god. I am not a religious person, but I am a spiritual one. I knew this was god. I knew it to be him. Yet, as the buzzing, vibration, and pressure continued, I grew fearful. I started to doubt that what I was experiencing was god, and I began to think of it as something more sinister. I tried to wake myself, but was unable to. Still seeing both pictures in one screen, I told myself that what I was experiencing was the devil. At this point, my mom began to call down to me. I was aware of her voice, yet unable to respond. I felt a fear I have never known, and began to fear for my mother, who was coming down the stairs to my room. The sensations subsided as my mother drew more near, and I was eventually able to wake, and leave my room.
Last night, my girlfriend spent the night with me. We used to live together in an apartment, but have since moved back in with our parents to save money. While having a dream similar to the one I just recalled, the buzzing, vibration, and pressure returned, and grew in intensity at an alarming rate. I’d like to note that in both dreams, I seem to have associated the origin of the buzzing, vibration, and pressure to an object. In the first dream, it was the statute in the courtyard. In this dream, it was a number of rocks from the ocean floor that I had assembled together like pieces of a puzzle. In each dream, once the sensations begin, I have tried to run from the object. It is at this point that I become aware of myself sleeping, and view myself and my dream in an almost dual vision. When I attempt to run from the object eminating the sensations in my dream, I feel that I must start to breathe more heavily, as if in a physical struggle. In both instances, I feel that it is this heavy, rhythmic breating that initially brings me to the awareness that I am dreaming, yet somehow conscious. Becoming in tune to my heavy, labored breaths, I open my eyes, and initiate this sort of double vision where I am all at once dreaming, and awake. Again, I am unable to move my body. My labored breathing continues, as does the buzzing, vibrations, and pressure on my body and in my head. I recall looking over to my girlfriend, who had her back to me, praying that she, too, would become aware of my labored breathing, and try to wake me. She didn’t. I felt at this point that I was close to leaving my body, but the pressure I felt was keeping me down. In the dream, this pressure was pulling me back to the source I attributed its origin to, the ocean rocks I had assembled together. In my conscious state, I felt the pressure was pulling me back into my body. I wanted to get up, I wanted to pull an imiginary rope and stand, but the pressure was overwhelming. Eventually, as before, I succumbed to the sensations and and allowed them to swallow me up. Again, I instantly woke. I think that this particular even happened when I first woke up, and reset my alarm to a later time, for it was light outside when I first opened my eyes during my dream, and it was still the same shade of light when I woke from my sleep.
I do not know what to truly think of these events. I do not know whether to fear or embrace them. I do believe that as some of you have said, the fears are simply what I have manifested in my own mind, not something that can physically harm me. I hope this to be true, because I am going to be more willing to allow these sensations to continue the next time they occur. I hope for the best.
For those of you who actually read all of what I have just typed, thank you. We all have a story to tell, but some of us aren’t fortunate enough to have our story heard.
February 17, 2012 at 4:0 1
Dear Zach, Your story has been heard! You seem to have had a variety of experiences, which if I am reading your account correctly, are leading you to the ability to leave your body volitionally. If you fight the fear and go with the more gentle vibrations you should have some interesting OOBEs (out of body experiences). Thanks for your contribution.

I’m mind boggled finding all of this information. My first experience with this happened after a spiritual initiation into a diety of the Ifa priesthood known as Osanyin. As I underwent this initiation, on my own with no connecting one to the other, I was studying ancestral and Osanyin energy to Oro, a diety who resides in the woods and who’s voice is the Bullroarer. Oro is also said to be the voice of Egungun and Osanyin. Late one night I woke up to the presence in my room. I looked and there was nothing there. I tried to relax and realized I was unable to move then that I was un able to breath. What sounded like wings flapping began to sound like a vibration that shook the whole room. Finally, I affirmed to self “be still, for I am God!” , and it rushed out of the room. I’d also into this trance state when the wind would blow my blinds to flap in order with each other while in mid-sleep states. It was the sound. One day at work, I was listening to a commercial on Austrailia which finished with the sound of a Bullroarer and I began making connections and studying. I highly recomend YouTubeing: bullroarer gigante (a large one to listen to it), hummingbirds wings (these are said to be the mesangers of Osanyin, listen to the wings), Egungun (listen to this dieties voice and if you have the equipment, slow his voice down)

Thank you for this interesting account. I would probably need more information than I currently know to comment on the Ifa related connection. I look forward to researching this rich tradition.
I would insert a word of caution: Although I believe these “sleep paralysis” experiences are very real, it also seems to me that the “others” whomever they may be, are very clever and can use the archetypes that are stored in our brains. Just as I would caution a bereaved client in search of a spirit not to trust that which purports to be a loved one who has passed, so I likewise think that things may not be what they seem in this realm.

Hi my name is Chris and I am 40 yrs old. Ok let me try and put my experiences into perspective, they are a little similar yet very different at the same time. I have had lets say 6-10 of these experiences over the years spanning from about mid 20’s til now. They dont seem to have a set schedule so to speak and only once or twice have they happened immediately after fallening back asleep. First let me say that when this ” paralysis” happens I am NEVER in the middle of dreaming. I dont really seem to dream all that often at earlier ages as I do now. I am stressed out of my mind as we speak and dream of ridiculous crazy stuff that makes no sense and usually I am being chased and someone is trying to kill me. Ok anyway lets get to this…
The first few times this happened I was sleeping in bed alone, my black lab always at my bedside. It also happened several times when I had my gf/ex-wife next to me. Let me also state that I NEVER have ” nice ” or ” fun ” experiences when this happens. Its is always strictly FUCKING terrifying. All my experiences are the same except one time when I actually saw a few dark looking alien type figures in the corner of my room just standing there looking towards me. The other times its just this ” presence” evil presence, it seems to look like that ” watery ” stuff you see on the road on a hot summer day. I think my dogs over the years knew something was wrong but, they couldnt sense the presence, only after I struggled to break free and get a yell out would they get anxious and up.
Ok, here we go. I go from deep sleep to awake in a flash. Im virtually always in a similar position, doing the same damn escape routine. Eyes are wide open, most of my body is pinned to the ground, im struggling insanely to move, I can see all around the room so I know im definitely awake cause everything is exact not like a dream where things are half real half made up. Im sweating like crazy, my veins are popping out of my arms and head as if im working out. Im usually able to push with one hand on my bed and reach with the other arm to either wake my dog or my ex-wife. Its takes a while not sure how long and like others its somewhere between 2-3 am. One time I was able to reach my dog ( barely) before I coould finally get the yell out. He turned and seemed to know somthing was wrong, then I yelled and he jumped up. Another time I was righ next to my wife reaching with my one arm and had it on her hip. She was laying sideways with her back facing me and I was struggling mightily to yell her name cause she couldnt feel my hand on her. As it was all happening she removed my hand from her and told me ” go back to sleep your dreaming.” Oh man was I FUCKING pissed!! Finally I screamed Chrissy!!!! IT came out as I broke free from whatever/whoever freaking holds me down. She jumped up and said ” geeze you scared the hell out of me.” ” you were dreaming its ok go back to sleep.” I flipped out cause at that time I was so pissed of this shit happening and the anger that my damn dog and her cant freaking hear/see and fucking help me! Its weird as soon as my eyes wake up its like an instant fight to try and sit up and talk as fast as I can. Im not sure how long it takes.
A few times I actually felt the pressence coming and opened my eyes thinking it would stop it. Nope! I saw that watery looking stuff come at me full speed and put me in that ” force filed” type feeling. I never feel anything actually touch me or on me, just feel like im stuck down into the bed like a ton of weight. Im usually pissed off and want to destroy it lol if I could see it or talk to it. Its my nature I guess, I have always been an athelte, boxer/wrestler, etc. Its frustrating and incredibly frightnening when it happens. Its scary not knowing or being able to see something that in a sense is ” attacking” you and you dont know whats going on or whats ” its ” intentions are. I have tried to lay still, be quiet, nice and all that….Doesnt work, only makes it worse and never goes away. I take it as if something/someone is trying to take my life so I flip out and try to fight out of it ASAP. I see all you people talk about being nice , going with the flow and learning, etc…Im not sure that a good thing. Whether we are talking aliens, angels or demons, you DONT know what it is and just because it seems ” nice ” doesnt mean its not doing that to DECEIVE you. I look at it this way, if its a GOOD entity, alien, angel, etc. It wont come harassing you, put fear in you while you are sleeping. No way no how.
Just some info. I have never seen a UFO, alien or any other weird stuff in the real world in my life. I have just started looking for the truth about our existence, GOD/Jesuse etc for my own peace/peice of mind. I was always a skeptic about GOD/Jesus, aliens, etc. I am so more open to it and all things unknown now. The further I dig and research and gain knowledge both in the bible, other relgious books and new discoveries world wide I am blown away that our creation/history of the world may not be acurate or even close to being true as we were taught. I am baffled by the Giant skeletons found all over the world and in America inparticular, a race of GIants, yet our books speak nothing of them? Then I read about Genesis and they speak of a race of Giants and the great flood. Now my research and debate stems around what is fact and what story is the truth and which one predates? The Vedas and the ancient Egyptians were far more advanced a civilzation for its time. They tell the same story of giants and the great flood only thousands of years before the bible was written!!!! WTF!!! I have so much to read and learn. I think we can learn so much from native americans about our real history, creation and ancient ancestors. I think the bible may have been a continuation of earlier civilizations but, for some reason unknown to us its being forced down our throats as the ONLY book and only truth. Yet new finds all over the world suggest that ancient civilizations of MAN have existed long before the bible and were all over the continents. There is a reaseon people that pyramids are not just in egypt but, mexico, south america, grand canyon and the south pacific, along with other incredible sites like stone henge and easter island. One day we may finally know or maybe as some suspect we dont want to be around to fin out?
So sorry I gave more info on other realms lol. Anyway all my experiences seemed to be ” evil ” presences. Any info or feedback is totally welcomed!
May 3, 2012 at 4:0 1
Hi Chris,
Many of my experiences are frightening also. Even this week I went from a sort of lucid dream to being semi-awake in my bedroom to being pulled out of my body from behind by my shoulders diagonally across the bed. I too fought it screaming loud. Figured out that I was barely mouthing the word “help!” over and over again when I was finally able to break free and really scream.
There really is a difference between going out of body volitionally versus being pulled out against your will. The thing to remember here is that whatever is pulling you out may not have the same value judgements as you do. Whatever is pulling you out of body may not be a devil or angel or a God of any sort. It may be a being from another dimensional plane or parallel universe or visitor from another planetary system. It may have a message for you or it may see you as human scientists see an earthworm, as something to be experimented on. Imagine how horrified a rabbit must feel when humans run medical tests on it. What makes any of us think that we are highest on the food chain under the Supreme Being? Please read this post: https://fahrusha.wordpress.com/2010/07/04/someone-smarter-than-you/
I too entertain thoughts about archeological anomalies, so I read your comments on that with interest. Thanks.
April 2, 2013 at 4:0 1
Hi Chris,
If you don’t mind, could you tell me what books you’ve read about the giants and things your reading, sounds very interesting to me? For some reason I didn’t read your episode until today and got to thinking that I’ve experience similar things but not as scary. I believe there are beings that don’t want you to gain knowledge about the “truth” and will try any way to discourage or wipeout part of your memory. As I am trying to learn things during my sleep there is some being/beings that is interfering with my progress. Watch closely to who follows you when your exploring in your dreams and you’ll see what I mean. Friend or foe i’m unsure of and that’s the hard part to distinguish in dreams because they can change race/sex just to throw you off. a couple weeks ago I was aware of myself dreaming so I was joking with a female in the dream and she played it off as to be friendly with me, once I approach her and said something about knowing that I was dreaming the whole dream went blank and I was stuck in darkness. I wasn’t sure whether I should wait for something to come introduce themselves to me or not so I woke up. Ever since that happened, I i’ve been losing awareness in my dreams and also had a few minutes of not knowing who I was or where I was in real life while lying on my bed. Just saying to anyone who is reading this to be cautious to not get tricked like I have and also that there are beings in our dreams that are willing to help us out when they see opportunities to do so just wish I had more awareness and the attention span to take it all in.

Hi,
Just found your article today and find it very interesting and would like to understand a bit more about OOBE and how it works, not sure if i’ve experience anything like that but tips on how to do it would help. I’ve had a similar experience with a being in my bed while I was sleeping. It started about a week before new years before 2012 and I was sleeping, I felt something lifting my legs up and down. I’m a bit of a wuss because I didn’t bother to look down my feet to see if I would see anyone was there. A week after I was in a dream and I felt something break me out of that dream going into another dream and I was being pulled this time legs lifted and being dragged on the floor a few feet before i was able to break out of it. Once I broke out of the dream I was in my room staring at the ceiling then I was like screw this and looked towards my feet and all I saw was something cloudy forming then i saw it. It showed itself to me and the way I can describe it was that it was female, had a green glow to it and pretty transparent and also sparkly. she floated her face first towards my face and smiled and it was not wearing any clothes. It floated away and went through my wall of my bedroom. before it left my room it kinda smirked at me. Is there anything that this being could be that you have experience before? It didn’t seem harmful but then again i’m still learning about these kinds of stuff. Also I still feel strange presence once in awhile like something goes in and out of my room. I might have caught it doing so last week, I was finishing up watching tv and turned off the lights and in the hallway that leads to my room just as I shut the lights off I saw an outline of a persons body and this time I was fully awake. What could it be? well if you can help me out i’d greatly appreciate your input. thanks

Dear Vil,
It does sound to me as though you were going out of body. No one can tell you conclusively who or what the beings you have experienced were specifically. The good news is that most people are not physically harmed by these experiences, though many of us experience psychological trauma. It might be helpful to visualize a golden sphere of positive and protective energy around yourself when you go to bed. You might also benefit from reading my comment to the experiencer directly above. Thanks for your comment.

Hi again,
Just woke up from a weird dream and thought to myself, how come we can never remember ourselves in real life during dreams? is there something in dreams that is causing us to forget who we are? I’m not sure if it makes any sense but just had this dream and feeling that someone or something is messing with me in my dreams. I was dreaming of going down from a mountain by a lake and when i reached the bottom, I see alot of buddha statues behind me. Then there was a person that appeared to me and me knowing i’m dreaming and my previous dreams that when I feel vibrations means something else is there with me so I grab the person aggressively like I caught it and that person vanished and I ended up in bed and like last time I tried to see if anything will come out of there but nothing happened, I seem to be in a state of sleep still but i realize it was a bed but not the bed I am really in and also noticed in between my eyes where 2 circle, kind of like how water drops look but they where between my eyes and felt the strange feeling that it was pacing behind the wall above my head and I’m guessing it doesn’t want to be seen? that’s when I woke up when i realized this isn’t my reality. the day before I dreamed that I was at a restaurant but I seemed to be knocking things over and I had this weird feeling like someones pushing me forward during my dream and causing me to knock things over, once I realize something is bothering me in my dream, I woke up and my whole backside felt like i was floating but my body really wasn’t just felt that way. so do you think something is playing around with me in my sleep? Do you think it could be harmful to play around with the unknown during sleep?
June 21, 2012 at 4:0 1
Dear VII,
Sorry it has taken me awhile to respond. I think you can practice to be more lucid in your dreams, that is, realize that you are dreaming and remember who you are and take control of the dream. It seems like you are already making some active choices in your dreams and are having some symptoms of out of body experiences (backside floating). I frankly don’t know if it would be harmful to play around with the unknown while dreaming, though I’d say probably not. I’d just play it safe and not do anything you would classify as wrong in your waking life, like hurting anyone purposely.

maybe you can help me understand what happened to me last night, I was sleeping and suddenly my head start to vibrate and a strobe light was flashing and that when I saw this thing looking like a zombie looking at me and say why ,,why !! and that is when I tried to wake up …was this real ? The vibration and the strobe light felt so real
Thank You

Dear Kati,
Thank you for your comment. Here we have to differentiate between “real” and “3-D”. I cannot say for sure what has happened to you, but the vibrations you experienced are described by myself and others as the beginning of an out of body experience. The figure that you saw may not be tangible in our 3-D reality, but very real on its own dimensional level.

Was wondering if anyone has been reported seeing another galaxy or stars
July 24, 2012 at 4:0 1
Dear Yolonda, Thank you for your comment. I have dreamt of other stars but not in conjunction with sleep paralysis that I can remember. I have seen UFOs while in the state of sleep paralysis. I’m not sure if that relates to your question.

I actually did. This happened during an early morning experience of sleep paralysis. I was awake with my eyes closed and realized I could not open my eyes. I saw a bright light comming toward me that was unbarible to me sigt and I wanted to close my eyes, but they were closed. As it kept shining I began noticing black dots and came to my senses in fear, but changed….anew. Later on in life, after some spiritual initiations and some scientific research I realized I had been given a glimpse of a dual universe. This also happened later in life during intercourse. Following years and years of research I saw the series “Through the Wormhole” and everything made sense!

Hi. I have just woken up from an episode. It is 1:45 am and im afraid to go back to sleep. It’s been about 2-3 months since the last incident and for a while I forgot about it. I am glad to have stumbled upon this website. This time however was different from all of the other ones! It started with a dream. I dreamt of a two girls at a park that were approach by a man. The man offered to help them uncover something under the dirt. Then all I remember is the man chasing after me(one of the little girls) and the other girl to what I can only guess, murder them. And then I woke up. But I couldn’t move. There was a great pressure on my body and I tried to call out for help. But I couldn’t talk. Eventually I was able to make sounds to cry out to my mother who was asleep not too far from me, on another couch. I looked up at the mirror that was on the wall across from me and I saw 4 girls. I’ve never seen any figures before of any kind during my sleep paralysis states and this is what is scaring me the most. When I looked at the two girls in the center they stared at me, into me it seemed. I just habe a feeling that they were the ones from my dream. Then all of a sudden my whole body started to vibrate, way stronger than it ever has before during an episode. I looked back up at them and they both nodded at me. I don’t know what that means and I am very scared. I started to breath hard, because that’s what usually gets me out of it and wakes me up but this time it took a LOT longer than usual. I didn’t even realize that it was sleep paralysis until I woke up. Normally I can tell during the episode but this time I guess I was so freaked out it didn’t cross my mind. I am very afraid. I’m 17 and I’ve been having these weird sleep paralysis dreams since 8th grade. I don’t know what to do.

Dear Breana,
Though I am considerably older than you are today, I too have had many incidents of so-called sleep paralysis in my life. The good news is, that although terrifying, they highly unlikely to cause any physical damage to you. It is good that you have written down the incident and if you can think of any more visual details that could help you to identify the girls or their attacker, you should add this to your diary or notebook. It sounds from your report that you identified closely with one of the girls though I’m not sure that she is/was you. For your own clarity you should describe the ages and appearances of the girls (who I feel to be younger than you) and their attacker.
The vibration of the body is also common in out-of-body experiences (OBEs).
Thanks for your report.

I cannot believe I have come across this website…thank you!! I have been having these buzzing or vibrating experiences for about a month. In the last 2 weeks or so I have commented to myself too that my bedroom seems to be a lot darker and a feeling that someone or something is in my room. I have had a feeling of unease. I put it down to the fact that my partner works away all week and the night’s are getting darker and I am imagining the feeling but I am not so sure anymore. These buzzing or vibration feelings are what led me to your website as I was searching for what these mean. I am quite spiritual and I must admit I didn’t automatically think anything was medically wrong but didn’t rule it completely out either. But I am now convinced it isn’t medical after all. I have real lots of your replys and so far haven’t had some of the experiences that some of your replys have had but I had to reply when reading through that I am experiencing some of these things. The feeling of someone or somethingin the room is the worst feeling I think and the fact that the room feels darker is also worrying. I do feel a little threatened by the feeling…as if what ever may be there is menacing but that maybe just a natural feeling of the unknown with the buzzing feeling too. I am hoping now I am more aware of what is happening then the feeling will change and the experience will be different. Thank you so much for this information.

Sorry it has taken me awhile to answer. The good news is that physical harm is rare in these occurrences. Surround yourself in an egg of golden light and pray or meditate according to whatever tradition you follow. The buzzing sensation indicates to me that you may be about to go out of body. Going out of body when YOU want to can be an extraordinary experience, but being pulled out unawares by others can be terrifying.

Hi Fahrusha,
I have always wanted to compare my OBE with others to see if there were any similarities. Thanks for your great website! I focus my intent on awakening from the “veil” of sleep and have experienced touching the ceiling, sitting on the roof marveling at the brilliance and awareness of the stars in the sky and have had three experiences that I still think about on a daily basis. Lucid dreaming comes naturally to me, dreaming within a dream and waking up in a dream, etc. but an OBE is a different experience for me. During my OBE’s I do not experience feelings in the normal sense of the word, curiosity replaces them. Information is communicated in the Now, without reflection- like instantly knowing. I’m not aware of time.
I vibrated to a place that was white where a very loving energetic female being (not in form but in presence) was. There was a gold box with a floating rotating gold disc hovering above it and she was waving her “energetic” hand above the disc to display different scenes. One was of a chariot with someone in it pulled by a brave beautiful white horse charging into a war. The box was made out of gold and the symbols on it where fluctuating and moving which also captured my attention. She communicated that “Everything is made of sound and vibration”. She then directed my attention to the symbol of a large clock pointed to 8. Then I heard the sound of the C note but it was in waves as I was sent back to my body. I tried to imitate this sound the next day and felt as if I might disappear, got a bit afraid and quit. This happened 18 years ago.
If you would like to hear the other two experiences I can follow up, just wanted to share this one with you and see if anyone else has had a similar experience. Thank you!
October 15, 2012 at 4:0 1
Great experience! Sounds as though you are quite adept at experiencing altered states. The “golden disc” seems like it might be a part of what has been called the Akashic Record, about which you may be familiar. Thanks for your comment.
October 17, 2012 at 4:0 1
I have also had an experiance very similar to this except I was taken outside and when I looked up at the sky some of the stars were in the shape of a UFO and then it shined a light at me and a robotic voice spoke out to me.
October 17, 2012 at 4:0 1
I had my first experiance last night it was quite weird as it started with me feeling asif a small alien was sitting on me stopping me from moving but i rolled onto my side and then it stopped after that my legs started levitating and then so did the rest of my body and the it felt as if I was being pulled up and I went through the top bunk of my bed I then fell back into my body and was startled from what had just happend.

I have experienced sleep paralysis twice. The first time was unsignificant, but the second one was very spiritual feeling. These happened in 1998 and haven’t occured since. I woke up and couldn’t move. I was scared. I tried to move and call out for my mom, but nothing would come out of my mouth. It was like I was frozen stiff. I felt a presence like someone putting their palm on my back and radiating energy throughout my body. I also hear music. I have trouble remember things these days, but I can take myself back to that night and remember every detail with no problem. So strange. I am glad I stumbled upon this page because every now and then I think about paranormal type stuff and like to browse……sometimes I feel like an empath but don’t believe I have any psychic powers. I just wish I had answers to all things paranormal. Thank you for this page…..this whole time I had thought I had woken up to an anxiety attack. It is good to know that it was actually sleep paralysis I had experienced.
November 23, 2012 at 4:0 1
Thanks, Jessica, for your comment. Sounds like the being radiating energy through your body was a positive one. Sleep paralysis is a normal biological function of mammals. It seems as though sometimes other spiritual or inter-dimensional beings can communicate with us during sleep paralysis. Try not to be frightened if it happens again.

Hi It is alarming to see the world on mass experiencing horrendous external cases of violated, serious interference, I am amazed at the level of ignorance and sugar coated acceptance of entities that have no right on any level to interfere with anyone. If a human came into your house during the night as you slept, proceeded to put you in a semi comatose state then continued to do unspeakable things is this ok ? the Laws of our country would do something about this as it is a violation, so what’s the difference here people are we going to lie there and just not fight for our right as a human or are we just going to let these critters keep sucking the life force out of each and every one of you ! because this is what they want and need to survive and take without your consent only to use it to miss guide you into believing its love and light that is why you feel utterly exhausted and drained, so please wake up, us indigos can not do this alone everyone’s help is needed here, so come on people what are we going to do about this. We are all afraid but our boundaries are being totally violated, I have experienced more than I will say its way to heavy I’m a healer and I used to hate my gifts but now I love them, they show you real truth. It is never ok to accept this interference!!!!… KEEP YOUR POWER DO NOT EVER GIVE IT AWAY…PLEASE WAKE UP.HELP US INDIGOS NOW. Claim your home, sleep. boundaries and kick start that passion of your human rights now. Sorry people truth hurts. but heals. Do not give in to this horror fear is their weapon stand up to it, warrior still working for the masses we now what your going through as we are battered in many ways ourselves and worse we know what we are talking about…… Peace and truth to all.
April 2, 2013 at 4:0 1
Hi Ann,
You got my attention, if you don’t mind who are INDIGOS and what purpose do they serve? If your groups path is the same as mine you might have some allies in the future!!!
April 4, 2013 at 4:0 1
Dear Ann, Thank you for your comment. Firstly, it seems to me that there are many, many disincarnate entities coexisting with us in different frequency bands or different dimensional planes. Most of these beings are neutral and do not interfere with us at all. Others may wish to impart information to us. Evil often depends on your point of view. To the steer, the steak eater is the epitome of evil.
Secondly I agree with you about fighting against fear. Being fearful can attract the wrong type of attention. Instead I recommend meditating on love and asking for protection. See yourself surrounded by a globe of radiating love energy.
Thirdly, most people emerge from these experiences none the worse.

May 2, 2013 at 4:0 1
I can’t answer the question of “why” this is happening to you, but I can tell you that this is happening to hundreds of thousands of people and almost all of them emerge unscathed physically. It is totally terrifying. If you have read the article and the accompanying comments you have all the advice that I currently have. Wish I could help more.

hello,
I have been having sleep paralysis for 5 years….since my first pregnancy. They were typically horrible. Hard to breathe, evil presence, faces… etc…etc. I began to begin to realize I could astral travel…attempted twice. Once got scared, one successful and beautiful. However, I now get EXTREME pain. Like fingers of the strongest hand crushing my ribs, crotch area, spine and most recently lower stomach. These painful episodes of sleep paralysis could last a long time and the pain is truly intense….I can’t begin to describe it. Hands or sometimes hands holding a metal rod. Am I doomed for the rest of my life with these painful sleep paralysis’ or is there a way to change this? Mentally I am strong and have been strong enough to over-come many unpleasant things that have happened during sleep paralysis but this seems even something beyond what I can handle.

I would start out by visualizing myself being surrounded by a golden sphere of benevolent light and send love to the Universe. Set the intention that only good can reach you. Also check out all the other comments and answers above.

This is a great blog you have here Fahrusha, very helpful to those of us trying to make sense of our experiences. I believe in “alien” beings because of a sighting when I was little, broad daylight on a sunny day. I had an interesting one a couple nights ago, strong vibrations in my body and humming woke me up and I could even hear the aluminum window blinds rattling, and felt strong presences and was scared but I mentally told them they had to go because my 4 yr old daughter was in the bed next to me and I didn’t want them messing with her life….AND IT WORKED. I then had a good night’s rest but was freaked out the next morning when I remembered what happened.
My opinion is that whatever business the beings have, whatever they were (bad spirits, aliens, CIA haha) they don’t have our best interest at heart so it’s all the same to me. I think there are many of these forces kind of in kahoots together to make this world the awful place it is, but I KNOW from special experience that there is a higher plane with our best interest at heart and I KNOW Christ is the key to bringing us there (maybe that’s why the beings listened to me). The awful things we have to go through here on this planet are a necessary part of our progression, and having that in mind helps us get through it.
Thanks
May 2, 2013 at 4:0 1
Dear Shane,
Thanks for the good words. I am very glad that you were able to dispel what ever was causing your experience. Do what works for you. Sadly there have been many others who prayed sincerely and still had awful experiences. I am certainly in favor of the power of prayer.
I am not of the opinion that I have enough information to know whose interests “they” who are contacting us have at “heart”. I don’t see why it has to be just one “they”. You speak of progression and I think there are probably multitudes of beings more and less advanced technologically than humans and many of them no doubt have their own interests at heart just as you and I do.

I’m sorry, Fahrusha, I hope to be a good contributor to your blog. It is not my place to judge my “visitors”, you have a lot more knowledge than me, I’m just going off of what I felt during the visit. I can’t help but compare what I feel when my subconscious wakes me up from what I consider an invasion and what I feel when I commune with what I consider heavenly family, who aren’t seeking self interest at all and whole heartedly seek our (the entire human family) best interest. Thanks for your reply and all you do!

I appreciate your visits and your comments. We are both dealing with a phenomena which we can not fully understand, so we are both explorers of sorts. Thank you.

July 7, 2013 at 4:0 1
Hi Sheryl,
I had several encounters with the being(s). They communicated directly mind to mind. I have not made public some of the communications. The being was not in any way negative towards me but it was terrifying. As a teenager I felt chased by a similar but younger being. Later an older one apologized for the younger one’s actions. I was never sure if they were the same being, or just members of the same group.

Hi Fahrusha!
Sorry for my English… Im writing from Argentina. I was reading your article looking for similar situations that I have been living since 5 month… and except being out of my body or to see beings, the rest is too similar.
In my case I feel and hear as it if a dragonfly (“libelula”)is flapping too near my face! Its the same sounds. And few seconds next It starts to feel vibration in my stomach; sometimes this spread out to my whole body and my head seems near to blow out.
Ahh… I also feel a “presence” approach to me beside the bed (not in). And sometimes I feel as if a finger make me a soft massege in my third eye area.
That`s all about my experience until now!
Could you give some author or articles to get more information pleaseeee???
Thank you!
August 6, 2013 at 4:0 1
Dear Cat,
Your English is better than my Spanish, so no worries. Your experience is like that of many others, except for the vibration starting in the stomach, which I don’t recall having heard before. In a positive meditation I can sometimes run energy up and down my body. If I were you I would read Robert Monroe’s
Journey Out Of Body
. I would also pay attention to my solar plexus (yellow) chakra. Thanks for your comment.
August 8, 2013 at 4:0 1
Thanks Fahrusha!
What would you do for paying attention in your yallow chakra??? Concentration, some exercises…???
Ive forgotten to tell you these facts starting to appear after my 3º ceremony experience of Ayahuasca!
What do you think about that “presense” that I feel getting closer to me while vibration starts??? I`ve felt this kind of sensation (“presences”) but with real people! or when close people die!
Thanks for your useful advises!
September 1, 2013 at 4:0 1
Ayahuasca is interesting but could be dangerous if you are not with a proper group or teacher. There are many chakra exercises available on the internet. Since I do not personally know you, it would be wrong for me to advise a particular one.

Hi Fahrusha!,
Last night I had a similar experience being described. I felt enormous vibrations happening to my body and when I looked up there was a being above me, a girl standing by my side with her hand straight out above my chest and stomach. I couldnt see her face, I could see the profile of her body but it looked like she just had a gray robe on. It felt like my energy was being channeled into her hands. It wasn’t freightening at all however.
She told me she was Amanda, someone that I know (but barely know) and she was communicating with me. I could even ask her questions and she would give me answers! The oddest part was that when I asked her what should I do and what does this all mean she told me that “I need to be strong and that my curiousity sexually arouses her.” After the fact I thought that was very strange, but I have to admit I did feel like I was falling in love with her as she was, what seemed like, transfering energy from my body.
I didnt come out of my body but I think I started too because I lifted my hand up and could actually hold her hand. It felt so real, too real. Then I fully woke up and noticed my real hand was not in the air.
Afterwards as I analysed the situtation, I started to wonder, had I been tricked? It being didnt feel negative at all but she did knew exactly what to say to get me to trust her and I never got to see her face? What was she doing with my energy? I felt completely normal after, it didnt feel like I had my energy drained or anything like that. Maybe I wasnt tricked? Maybe some spirit was trying to connect with me?
Thanks for reading and please provide your advise.
Thanks again!

Hello, I have been having sleep paralysis ALOT and its really starting to freak me out to the point where i dont want to sleep again. Every time i have this experience i feel a tingling and buzzing sensation throughout my body. I always feel an evil presence to the point where i get terrified. About two months ago i had sleep paralysis but for the first time i was hallucinating. I saw my clothing basket( where i keep my laundry) floating in the air and i felt like something was controlling it ( i couldn’t directly look at the basket but still saw it). One of the scariest experiences I’ve had so far was when i had this numbness and buzzing tingly sensation during SP and i tried to roll off the bed to get rid of it. I knew i hadn’t actually rolled off the bed because when i snapped out of it i was on my bed. During that episode i also tried hitting my arms on the wall next to my bed but didn’t actually hit my physical arm if that makes sense. Anyway its been happening so much more frequently and i need help. Some of the things that happen to me during sleep paralysis are :
1. numbness, tingling sensation (buzzing i can feel not hear)
2. mild hallucinations (basket floating around room) btw when that happened i woke up and the basket was the first thing i saw and it was extremely close to my face almost touching me which it wasn’t there when i went to bed. freaky…
3. evil presence
4. moving my limbs but not my real limbs
5. making myself roll of bed but doesn’t actually roll off
well thats all i can think of any replies or help would be appreciated
Btw im 16 and when i was 13 it happened and hasn’t happened at all until i was 15 and now it hasn’t stopped. please

It is difficult for me to respond to you because you are a minor. The good news is that it is very rare for any harm to come to anyone having a sleep paralysis experience. I suggest that you look at “out of body experiences” and especially books by William Buhlman, with whom I am acquainted. Mentally surround yourself with light before sleep.

I just googled this today as it happened to me last week.
I woke early in the morning and was tossing and turning and then I felt a presence in the room with me so opened my eyes ad saw something move beside my bed and then I heard this loud noise outside and light flashed past the window, I was trying to get up but I couldn’t and then suddenly I felt this electric vibration through my body, it wasn’t painful and I remember thinking ‘Is this is it, am I being taken?’. I’ve never experienced anything like this before but it felt so real like this electric vibration was vibrating through my body and was centered around my face, then suddenly it stopped and I opened my eyes. I think I closed my eyes when the virations started and I tried to get up but couldn’t … so I didn’t see anything apart from the light just before the vibrations. I couldn’t figure out if this was a dream or if my body actually did shake and the vibrations were real.
Thanks for reading and would love to hear your feedback!
September 1, 2013 at 4:0 1
I suggest you read all the other comments. In the end no one can tell you the “true” meaning but yourself. My take is that the vibrations are real but not in 4-D physicality. It is an altered state of consciousness, different from a dream. The vibrations sound very similar to my own experience.
Thanks for your comment.

Guys whats going on?
i had two accounts last night, the first was a weird buzzing in my head and i started to shake in my bed, but couldnt snap out of it, i wasnt scared but i couldnt let myself go, i couldnt quite welcome it, i want to see where this will lead if i allow it, what will happen?
The second time it happened it was very brief, but i let it come over me and i felt a brief sense of enlightenment or peace, i was going into this but my fear and doubt soon snapped me back out.
That was it.
i dont know if i was dreaming, but it felt so real!
can anyone help me? What should i do? what does this mean? are we different/special from other people? please help 🙂
September 1, 2013 at 4:0 1
As mentioned previously, this can be a portal to an out of body experience. It is an altered state of consciousness and in most cases it is benign and will not affect your daily life.
August 23, 2013 at 4:0 1
I should also mention that after the first encounter i was HOT almost burning , and this might be that (it might sound silly and childish) but before going to sleep i had wondered if it was possible to control elemental fire.
September 1, 2013 at 4:0 1
I don’t know what you mean “control elemental fire.”

This has happened to me about 6 times in the past year and ever time It happened I would feel as if I was having a seizure. I was shaking so violently in my dream all I could hear was this buzzing and static noise, and in these dreams I always see a figure of a woman dressed in all black and I can hear my sisters voice saying “kodi she’s coming wake up!” Over and over again. Eventually I have to force myself to wake and repeatedly in my head I’m saying “kodi wake up, kodi wake up”, but anyways I also just wanted to share my story.
October 15, 2013 at 4:0 1
Also when this happens I never want to continue this dream I immediately try and wake my self. I know this sounds childish, but I’m scared I won’t ever wake up.
