“Spiritual Musings on the Current Solar Minimum“
about the longest solar minimum in modern history. It seems that the solar minimum is still in full swing with 217 sunspotless days thus far (as of 10/07/09) in 2009 after 266 sunspotless days in 2008. Now scientists are beginning to wonder if the sun is changing dramatically because it’s brightness has dropped perceptibly. The sun’s magnetism is lessening and its current sheet is flattening. The solar wind has lessened as well, which allows more cosmic rays to enter our solar system. Are these things part of a natural cycle? This is not clear since instruments to measure such things as solar wind are relatively new. But the drop in solar radiance (brightness) can cause less warmth in the upper atmosphere, thereby slowing global warming and suggesting a possible Universal intervention in human affairs as I posited in my previous post. More cosmic rays however are not so benign. They can make space travel more dangerous for terrestrial life forms (i.e. humans, monkeys and dogs) sent into space and can also disable unmanned space vehicles.
Nearly as amazing as the complex activities of our star is the lack of awareness and interest on the part of the general public. The behavior of our sun and the space weather it generates almost surely impact our lives on a dramatic level. Yet these stories receive little press in the major media. My advice is to visit www.spaceweather.com regularly to get a perspective of what is going on.
On that site today, I found out that there will be an impact of the Moon by NASA’s nuclear armed LCROSS spacecraft and its Centaur booster rocket Friday morning, Oct. 9th, at approximately 7:30 a.m. EDT. The mission purportedly is to investigate subsurface water on our satellite. Coincidentally, I have been reading Ingo Swann’s book Penetration about his very unusual adventures remote viewing the Moon. He posits many startling things including activities on the Moon by extraterrestrial beings. If he is correct and they are still present, they will not be pleased with Friday morning’s impact, since composition of the Moon has been found to be less dense than that of the Earth and the impact might cause a reverberation on the sphere. What if the Moon’s orbit is changed? Danger! Will Robinson, Danger! Well, meteors have been hitting the moon for millennia so maybe not.

I am not too surprised at the findings along with the recent article on Increase in Cosmic Radiation:http://www.earthfiles.com/news.php?ID=1624&category=Science
I am bemused by some of the pronouncements that there is no effect from this (or that somehow there is no interrelationship). Or this article Magnetic Portals Connect Sun and Earth : http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2008/30oct_ftes.htm?list911479

Dear Brian,
Clearly these astrophysical events, if they could be called that, have a profound effect on our planet and terrestrial life. How could they not? I am becoming more concerned about this impact to take place on the Moon on Friday. Please check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byd_HpV9L9s
I may update my blog piece to include it.

I am very concerned about the ‘big bombing of the moon” on Oct 9th, 2009……..why oh why do we imagine that we have the “right” and the ‘duty’ and just because we have the ability……….must we BOMB the MOON ! I mean really…the excuse is the search for water…..oh please!? We are being told tha the impact will be so great that we can see it from the earth with a Walmart telescope…..so……is this more than major…..and is this really more than meets the eye…..? Who in the world ever gave us the permission….to bomb another planet……is this not INSANE !? and all we can do is stand by for the repercussions……and do you suppose there will be none….? They ( in the know ) say that the body of the moon is very porous….so again I say….why oh why are we bombing the planet…..?! Seems there is a major ‘other agenda ‘ here!
And what about the infor from the Divine Cosmos site of David Wilcock…..if the massive disclosure of ‘alien life’ is to occur soon…..will it merely be a response to our lunatic behavior of bombing the moon? Good grief…..someone save us from ourselves…..sooon…PLEASE !

I hope disaster can be diverted. They tried to bomb the Moon twice before, I am told, but were unsuccessful. Apparently we only see the photos that the powers that be want us to see, many of the highest resolution ones are supposedly held back. We already know that there is some water content on the Moon.
Ingo Swann has said that when impacted, the Moon reverberates like a bell.
The Moon may be sentient like our beautiful Gaia.
Thanks for your comment.

I think I meant if the rocket can be diverted, disaster will be averted. 🙂

Let’s not forget the Maunder Minimum (1650-1720). Solar physicists are still trying to figure out if that incident had an impact on the Earth’s climate. (Right now we’re just talking abut the usual 11 year cycle, not a 70 year cycle!)
It’s not something to be ignored, but as NASA physicist David Hathaway says: It’s nothing unusual.
As for dropping LCross warheads on the moon?
That decision had to made by an obvious idiot.
Good looking out, Fahrusha.

Thanks for your comments, Pat. I did discuss the Maunder Minimum briefly in my previous post, “Spiritual Musings on the Current Solar Minimum.” It was certainly an interesting solar event.

There are so many comments it is hard to know where to start. But overall it stresses the need to limit population, as the underlying cause of almost all human misery is just too many of us. As far as CO2 is concerned just think about 6 or so billion people exhaling 10 to 18 times per minute. Sunspots pale (no pun) in comparison. As far as why there is no discussion of solar activity in the press who decides what is made public each day? I really don’t know – I was just asking. But then again who decides to bomb the moon? Even if some one is planning to set up future colonies this might be a tad premature.

Hi Jackie,
I agree that the population is out of control. I find the subject of solar weather fascinating all by itself. But I don’t like the idea of bombing the Moon. Mythologically, the Moon is a symbol of the Divine Feminine.
Thanks for your comment.

Alice Bailey’s writings proposed that there was a “solar” logos, as well as a “planetary logos” responsible for the health and balance of our cosmic system. I am not surprised at the lack of interest or media attention about this extraordinary cosmic event; when Al Gore’s AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH was released, I was stunned at the apathy (or lack of comprehension) that followed his exhaustive plea. The notion of “bombing the moon” fits into our need as a global humanity to grow up while we still can, realizing and sanctifying our relationship as part of a planetary (and cosmic) whole.
Good article – thanks. Also enjoyed seeing the work of Ingo Swann again………fascinating artist and visionary.

Dear Lauren,
Al Gore is one of my personal heroes, arguably the greatest American of our time.
It will be “interesting” to see if the increase of cosmic rays has a perceptible effect on our planet or space program. An increase of cosmic rays will be unhealthy for those on the international space station.

Some people say global warming often precedes an Ice Age. I don’t know what is ‘true’ about anything except…this country has gone through a series of mass hysterias since at least 1990.
I can’t help picturing the man in the moon with a nuke stuck in his eye.
October 8, 2009 at 4:0 1
As I understand it, when the polar ice melts, the currents in the Atlantic change and there is no more Gulf stream. Then you can get a quick freeze as in the movie “The Day After Tomorrow.”
There are many things in this world to be concerned about, but hysteria helps nothing.
I love that cartoon image of the Man in the Moon! Can you draw it?
Thanks for your comment.

I don’t remember where I read this or heard it, but the solar maximum being at a minimum is what happened at the end of the Mayan civilization? I think scientists don’t know as much about the Sun as they think, nor do I, there seem to be larger cycles within cycles coming to completion in 2012 than known, one of them being a huge cycle of the Sun. I really don’t know what to think about the solar non-activity. Maybe they miscalculated the max, I do recall when they announced that the event had happened that marked the max, the Sun has gone longer than 11.? yrs. in it’s min/max cycle. Obviously we are all in for big changes all across the board.
And I was totally against the bombing of the Moon. We can only laugh at men’s sins, otherwise we’d be crying too much.
Much love to all! Sue

Dear Sue,
Thanks so much for your comment! You might be interested in reading about the Maunder Minimum: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maunder_Minimum
There is some reasonable evidence that a long solar minimum correlates with lower temperatures on Earth; thus my hypothesis that Universal Consciousness or some similar factor may not want us to destroy the Earth through global warming.

A nice post, followed by many good comments. A couple of thoughts –
1.Regarding the current sunspot minimum: if this is having any affect on global weather, then whatever we spend to capture and store Carbon Dioxide will be wasted. Of course, the whole “comsumer economy” produces much that is wasted, so it is not at all clear that this waste will have any more negative impact than any other.
At a time when the Developed World is struggling with debt, which historians will show as criminally accumulated by those in control of the system, it is also clear that any amount of money wasted on a useless project takes resources from where society needs to focus.
We are, after all, only immortal beings pretending that physical life matters.
2. Overpopulation: since humanity is also affected by the two great commands of physical life, which are to survive and to reproduce, I can not see any happy ending to this story. On the other hand, there is more than a little evidence that a major population drop is coming. Such books as “Mass Dreams of the Future” did extensive work with people, using the mechanism of hypnotic progression to document this coming phenomenon.
When I did some work on progression into a future life, I had the experience of coming back into NW South America. During that brief experience, I had a clear sense that much of North America was not inhabited, but I could not determine why.
Thanks for posting.

Dear Jim,
Thanks for the thoughtful comments. In terms of your first comment: no one is sure whether the solar minimum will persist, or if in fact it will swing in the opposite direction producing a powerful solar maximum replete with huge solar flares which could initiate a new Carrington effect which in turn would seriously disrupt our power grid and communications networks and coincidentally the increase in sunspots is believed to raise the temperatures here on Earth.
Unfortunately many of the individuals in charge of decision making do not share the view of us being immortal beings.
On your second point: Wow! I thought I was the only person around who owns a copy of “Mass Dreams of the Future”. I was very impressed by that book. I’d love to do some work with hypnotic progression!
Thanks again,
Fahrusha

As I look to the sky this morning….and last night at the moon……….I saw and felt shockwave-like ripples heading toward the earth….I felt the ground under my feet shift and the equilibrium jump…..all is not as it seems…..and now ….the new headaches forwarning of massive earthquakes……..hmmmm….and we consider ourselves the most intelligent beings in the universe……….NOT !
be safe out there…..and stay close to those you love………..
October 11, 2009 at 4:0 1
Thanks for your comment. Though I tend not to make public predictions, I did mention to many people that I believe we are in a time when there will be more earthquakes than usual. This could be in part due to the melting at the poles shifting the weight balance on the Earth’s crust. There are also always unseen forces at work.
Be well,
Fahrusha

Very interesting topic and comments. I like to think that the Earth is fully capable of taking care of itself and is evolving. The worst thing that can happen to us is we die and we are going to do that anyway. We know we are more than our bodies and we can always come back, in the time Jim speaks of, which I suspect Yellowstone blew and that’s why no N. American people. It’s exciting to be here.
Much LOVE! Sue

Thanks, Sue, for your comment. I have read about the possibility of an eruption in the Yellowstone region, Have you read Hank Wesselman’s Spiritwalker series? He speaks of his future self who is in a tribal wilderness in what was California, if memory serves me correctly. Fascinating stuff. I’d like to hear more about Jim’s future self as well.

Good day Fahrusha,
I was wondering what thoughts were now that solar activity is picking up and two comets in two weeks on collision courses with it. I haven’t figured out what it could mean to us humans, seems like it would mean something.
What are you thoughts?
Kind regards,
Sue (spaceweather.com)
January 21, 2010 at 4:0 1
Hi Sue,
Thanks for your comment.
My interest in solar activity is from the point of view of earth changes. The comets crashing into the sun may have some meaning but I am not privy to that info. I may be wrong but I believe it is not very uncommon. We are just getting better at observing it.
We may be barely coming out of a rather long and deep solar minimum. If it is followed by a high solar maximum, we could have a difficult time with our electrical systems, as huge solar flares could knock out our large transformers, thereby compromising our power grid. In other words: no electricity for a long time.
Pray it doesn’t happen.

Fahrusha

Sue/ Fahrusha –
Sue’s comments remind me of the poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins:
– I am like a slip of comet,
Scarce worth discovery, in some corner seen
Bridging the slender difference of two stars,
Come out of space, or suddenly engender’d
By heady elements, for no man knows:
But when she sights the sun she grows and sizes
And spins her skirts out, while her central star
Shakes its cocooning mists; and so she comes
To fields of light; millions of travelling rays
Pierce her; she hangs upon the flame-cased sun,
And sucks the light as full as Gideon’s fleece:
But then her tether calls her; she falls off,
And as she dwindles shreds her smock of gold
Amidst the sistering planets, till she comes
To single Saturn, last and solitary;
Enjoy,
Jim Szpajcher
