Life as we don’t know it…

If you wish to upset the law that all crows are black…it is enough if you prove one single crow to be white. ~William James

At this point in time on this planet Earth millions of people are wondering if we are alone in the Universe. They think about this when they go out at night and look upward at the glistening jewels of the Milky Way, our galaxy. They ponder it occasionally as they lay in bed waiting for sleep to find them. They eat up science fiction movies about alien invasions and whisper how their brother, aunt, neighbor or co-worker saw an unidentified flying object last summer.

As of January 17, 2013 there are 859 confirmed planets and 1235 candidate planets orbiting other Suns in our galaxy. Of these, 60 or so are Earth-like rocky planets. NASA scientists working with the Kepler telescope recently said there may be 50 billion planets in our Milky Way alone. Some of these scientists are searching for a Goldilocks planet, a planet just the right size and temperature to harbor life as we know it. But what about life as we don’t know it?

The new Hubble Extreme Deep Field is the deepest view into the Universe we have. From what has been observed we know that there are at least 176 billion galaxies in the Universe, and maybe even close to a trillion galaxies in the observable Universe when the Hubble study concludes. What about the unobservable Universe? Our galaxy is not considered to be a huge galaxy only small to medium, so if there are 50 billion planets in our galaxy and more than 200 billion galaxies (maybe a trillion) how many planets does that likely provide. Fifty Billion times two hundred billion, my mind boggles at this point. Is it possible that life as we know it exists out there in some (many) of these places? But what about life as we don’t know it?

What about extremophiles on Earth? These are examples of life on our planet of which most of us could not conceive. There are 10 foot long tubeworms at the bottom of the sea living in absolute darkness on thermal vents shooting out highly pressurized water in the temperature range of 240° Fahrenheit. Before seacraft were developed that could plummet into the ocean’s pressurized and crushing depths, most if not all oceanographers would have told you that conditions at these deep thermal vents could not support life when in fact they are teeming with life. And so what about life as we don’t know it elsewhere in our solar system, our galaxy, our Universe, the Multiverse?

There is a theory called panspermia which contends that life did not originate on Earth but was transmitted from elsewhere in space. In this theory, life is dispersed throughout the Universe by meteors and space rocks containing microbes and/or amino acids and colliding with planets bringing the building blocks of evolution for life as we know it. Scientists have evidence of a heavy bombardment of earth by meteors about four billion years ago. There was probably a another planet in the solar system located between Mars and Jupiter in the orbit of the current asteroid belt. The destruction of this planet could have been the cause of the heavy bombardment.

German scientists sent bacterial spores mixed with red sandstone into space on a Russian rocket and those spores were returned back to earth and proved to be still viable. Bacterial spores can remain viable for as much as 250 million years under adverse conditions on Earth. On Earth, in the Arctic regions, the reasonably common permafrost is known to harbor bacterial spores and eukaryotic cells which are viable over thousands of years. When comets pass the sun they bring with them icy particles from beyond the major planets. An analysis of the heat radiation from dust particles from Halley’s Comet matched that of bacteria and nothing else, so the evidence for panspermia is mounting. By extrapolation so is evidence for life as we know it outside our solar system. But what about life as we don’t know it?

Well some of the answer to the question lies with one’s definition of life. Many define life as respiration. Respiration is ” the process by which organisms exchange gases, especially oxygen and carbon dioxide, with the environment. In air-breathing vertebrates, respiration takes place in the lungs. In fish and many invertebrates, respiration takes place through the gills. Respiration in green plants occurs during photosynthesis.” But others including myself define life as consciousness, particularly self awareness.

There is a prevalent theory that the Earth, our Mother, is a living being. It is called the Gaia Hypothesis and I subscribe to it. But what if the heavenly bodies are conscious beings? Now we are getting closer to what could be part of life as we don’t know it. Vaguely related to this, because of their ubiquity in the Universe, are dark matter and dark energy which astrophysicists believe compose the majority of the Universe. Could the dark matter exist on a different dimensional plane or at a different frequency unmeasurable by our instrumentation? Is dark energy the life force of the Universe? I cannot answer these questions, but I do like to think about them. For if life is consciousness and consciousness is non-local then life is everywhere in the Multiverse and beyond.

Why do I write about this you may ask? There are at least two reasons. The first is to change the minds and hearts that harbor antiquated paradigms about the Earth being the center of the Universe and the only place capable of nurturing life. The second reason is because when I think about this I feel so ecstatic I want to sing along with Dominico Medugno (below). If you think about this seriously ten minutes a week, I’ll bet it will change your view of your life for the better and your place in the Universe forever.

Basil Bristow, who has channeled several beings with great wisdom has emailed me the following message from Pretorius, who is speaking through him currently, regarding my blog post above:

January 20, 2012

Today I heard from a reader: Millions of people on Earth are wondering if we are alone in the Universe. They think about this when they go out at night and look upward at the glistening jewels of the Milky Way; where, as of January 17, 2013, scientists report there are 859 confirmed planets and 1235 candidate planets orbiting in our galaxy. I wondered if Pretorius would care to comment; here is his reply:-Basil

The scientific community on Earth; while they are to be admired for their advances during the past 100 Earth years, in reality are still learning their A.B.C.s which is akin to children in 1st Grade. However, advancement is advancement and I again congratulate them. But, I must also add that what is done with their newly acquired knowledge, and how well it is administrated, remains to be seen. Indeed, it is as if the Earth stands on the brink of self-destruction (as has happened on Earth in the past) or if common sense becomes the watchword.

Now, regarding the postulations regarding Earth-sized planets that could maintain life in both your own Milky Way galaxy and in the Universal cosmos in general.

First, as I have said many times, mankind must get away from considering “life” as life that requires air, water and food … as is needed by the population on Earth. If that word “life” is to remain your criteria for defining “life” throughout the Universe then your consciousness will remain extremely limited.

“Life” as construed by the Universe is that which contains the essence of The Supreme 1 and, of course, that includes everything. Whether that essence needs air, water and food to survive is immaterial – what is material is that the essence has the “breath” of life given to it by The Supreme 1 – and, I assure you that everything in the Universe has received that “breath” of life.

To answer the question as to whether or not the human creature that lives on Earth has “Brothers and Sisters” living elsewhere in the Universe then the answer is yes, it does. There are countless areas in the Universe where such “life” exists. It would seem scientifically logical that, providing Earthly human-life does not annihilate itself, then “Earthlings” may one day meet colonies of those brothers and sisters. However, if I may quote an Earthly phrase – “Don’t hold your breath,” for that day is, without a doubt, far, far into the future.

However, I must add a qualification to that statement because many of the human-like societies elsewhere in the Universe are more advanced spiritually, scientifically and in general knowledge. But still, many other human-life societies are not as advanced as you on Earth.

I do not make a practice of predicting the future but it would seem to be logical that at least one or two of those more advanced societies would visit Earth before Earthlings visits them. Indeed, such visitations have occurred many times in the past and Earth’s humanity has benefited spiritually, physically and intellectually from those visits.

It is spiritual growth that will define Earth’s humanity – not scientific growth (although that is most certainly important!) for it will be the spiritualness of Earth’s humanity as a whole that will define its longevity.

Thus, if I may, I urge you all to go within and bring forth the love and peace that has lain imprisoned in the human breast for so long. Let it free and bring new “life” to your Earth – not just life that requires air, water and food, but life which blossoms on its spirituality.

Until next time,

Pretorius

This article is dedicated to the memory of Neil Armstrong and Sally Ride, both of whom passed into the great beyond this year. They both were incredibly brave American heroes.

In 1969 Neil Armstrong was the first human to walk on the Moon and Sally Ride was the youngest person to travel into space and the first American woman in space.

If you have ever been to the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida and have seen the space capsules up close and personal, you may begin to understand the amazing bravery of our astronauts. Most of us would not have the courage necessary to step inside and blast into the cosmos in what looked to me like a large metal can. One must immediately acknowledge the possibility of not returning to Earth alive, knowing the many perils that might beset the delicate capsule and trusting the ground crew implicitly. Yet they both volunteered without hesitation.

There are many articles on the internet about both Sally Ride and Neil Armstrong which I invite you to explore. I was an admirer of both and as a child wanted more than anything else to be an astronaut. One point I wish to explore currently is why the US apparently never has returned to the Moon after the Apollo 17 mission on Dec 7, 1972. I do not contend that I know the answer. The official story (which could be true) is that it proved too costly. There are two alternate theories which state that either the astronauts were warned off the Moon by aliens or that the US did indeed go back to the Moon and beyond but they did so as part of a deep black (ultra-secret) space program. The most interesting aspect of the latter theory is the information related by British hacker Garry Mc Kinnon about what he found on NASA websites.

The Moon is a fascinating place for me and I have spent some time contemplating Moon mysteries. As a student of remote viewing (I find that the study of remote viewing enhances psi functioning.), one of my strangest targets was given in a class I attended at the Omega Institute in 2002 taught by David Morehouse, a former government RVer. It was toward the end of a seven day course. As always, we in the class were blind to the target. In my viewing I went back to the summer of 1969 and Woodstock. In my current terrestrial life I am not very musically talented and only have learned to play finger cymbals, but I am always getting musical cues while remote viewing (go figure). So for this target I went back to the time of Woodstock through the music. To make a long story short the target turned out to be the first manned lunar landing which occurred during the same summer, the Woodstock Festival was August 15-18, 1969 and the lunar landing occurred on July 20, 1969. In remote viewing the target can be anywhere in time or space and in Morehouse’s class we had some targets from ancient times. I think it was notable since the entire history of humanity is a long time, that I was only about 3 weeks off in discerning the time of the target but I could not understand why I went so off course in terms of the place. Morehouse commented the following day that he had used the target in other classes and the results were always weird and odd. The Moon was full on the night our class attempted that remote viewing target. For some reason I took a photo of the full Moon after I left class that night. The target was not revealed until the following morning. Side note: Here is a link to the Kate Valentine UFO show in which I am interviewed about my remote viewing studies. Scroll down to Friday Nov. 30, 2012.

A second interesting event involving the Moon occurred in my life surrounding the NASA bombing (LCROSS) of the Moon October 9, 2009, at 11:31 UTC (6:31 EST). Purportedly NASA was attempting to discover how much trace water was in the lunar soil for possible future lunar missions. A few weeks before the event occurred I was already quite upset with the idea of bombing the Moon. Hadn’t we humans already bombed our beautiful Earth enough? How do we know that the Moon is not a living entity like Gaia, our Earth? Now we had to start bombing other heavenly bodies? It seemed like a very bad idea to me.

I set my alarm to wake early that morning and watch the bombing live on NASA TV on the internet. I was upset but as it turned out there was almost nothing to watch. The expected plume of Moon dust from the explosion never materialized, though some folks said the Moon rang like a bell. How they knew this I do not know.

Having awoken earlier than usual to witness this explosion, I decided to go back to bed to meditate and ask forgiveness of the Moon on behalf of the creatures of the Earth. I went into an alpha state of awareness, mind awake, body still. And though I was aware of being physically in my bed, my mind travelled to the Moon. As I drifted above the chiaroscuro surface at a height of approximately 20-30 feet or so it seemed to me though there was nothing familiar on which to base that calculation. In the upper left corner of my vision I became aware of an object or assemblage of objects. As I began to focus on it, it looked like a disused piece of machinery resting in a “valley” area. Generally oblong in shape, it appeared to be metal, somewhat wrecked and in the shape of a very short train, though it was not a train. My “astral vision” was attempting to make sense of the object when suddenly I heard a voice behind me. It was a male voice with a soft Southern (US) accent. He or it said, “You have to leave here immediately, Ma’am. You have no clearance to be at this location.” Immediately I was back in my bed.

I thought I was remote viewing the surface of the Moon, but now I think I went there astrally, because it seems I was detected. But by whom or what? The voice that startled me could have been that of a military intelligence officer or even stranger, something that wanted to sound like someone reasonably familiar to me. I was NOT asleep. I have not attempted to go back there, so frightening it was to me. Later that day or the following, I wrote a blog post about the experience. Around the beginning of 2012 I went back to reread what I had written, but it was no longer there nor were any of the drafts. All that remained of the post was a category that I created for it called “save the moon”. Who or what removed my post I doubt I’ll ever know.

A very famous remote viewer named Ingo Swann has a published account of a visit he made to the Moon and I suggest that if you have interest in this topic that you read it.

Ufologist Ken Pfeifer has been examining NASA photos of the moon for anomalies and I present one of his discoveries here.

There are a number of others who study moon anomalies including Don Ecker, host of Dark Matters Radio Show and podcast. A number of astronauts have reported seeing anomalous moving objects while aloft or on the Moon but most have retracted their statements or become enigmatic on the subject. Astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell is most outspoken on the subject of aliens but does not say that he saw them while on the Moon.

Following are a few links to more information on the subject: (more to come)

Travis Walton in Bordentown, NJ on 11/12/11

Twice a year for the past 25 years, Pat Marcattilio, affectionately known as “Dr. UFO” to his friends and ufological acquaintances, has put together a UFO Congress in South Jersey. This fall it was a three day event featuring several prominent figures in the paranormal world and celebrated the 50th Congress that Mr. Marcattilio has organized. Recently he has been ably aided in this endeavor by his daughter Karin.

Sadly I was unable to attend the entire event due to other commitments, but I have had a great abiding interest in Travis Walton and his amazing, well documented story of alien abduction, so I motored down the New Jersey Turnpike to exit 7 on Saturday night armed only with my trusty Canon and my burning curiosity. I was not disappointed.

For over two hours, Mr. Walton showed film clips, spoke earnestly of his experience and answered questions for the gathered assembly. Although his experience happened thirty-six years ago it was plain to see that he became emotional while telling it. Being an experiencer I empathized with the abject fear he felt when faced with alien beings. Everyone with whom I spoke who saw the lecture was very moved by his sincerity. Even one person who is extremely skeptical about the subject of aliens was not only favorably impressed with Travis Walton, but also showed a new found fascination with the subject.

Briefly stated, Travis Walton was a member of a logging crew consisting of seven men on November 5, 1975 in Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, Arizona. On their way out of the forest that evening they observed a glow in the sky they could not make out, so they drove closer expecting perhaps a hunters’ campfire gone out of control. As they got closer, they posited a crashed plane in a tree, but soon a saucer shaped aerial craft revealed itself. It appeared to be 20 feet off the ground hovering silently.

Walton described the craft: “I estimated the object to have an overall diameter of fifteen or twenty feet; it was eight or ten feet thick. The flattened disc had a shape like that of two gigantic pie-pans placed lip to lip, with a small round bowl turned upside down on the top. Barely visible at our angle of sight, the white dome peaked over the upper outline of the ship. We could see darker stripes of a dull silver sheen that divided the glowing areas into panel-like sections. The dim yellowish light given off by the surface had the luster of hot metal, fresh from a blast furnace.”

Curiosity overpowered prudent caution in the young Travis, then 22. He leapt from the truck and ran under the saucer to get a better look. Suddenly the craft began to hum with mixed mechanical pitches, Travis crouched down but was nonetheless hit with a blue green beam that knocked him senseless. In fear of their lives and because they believed Walton dead, the other six fled the scene but returned shortly to find no sign of Travis. He had disappeared.

The story of what happened to Travis Walton during his five day abduction should be read by you from his book, Fire in the Sky and not here in brief synopsis. There was a Hollywood movie of the same name which contains the basic elements of the story with some theatrical changes, so it can be interesting especially if you are aware of the inaccuracies in it.

One overarching fact should be mentioned, Walton and the logging crew took multiple lie detector tests and passed them with flying colors. It is therefore unimaginable that they all colluded in a lie. Anyone with a true interest in ufology would be remiss not to study this baffling case.

Whitley Strieber waiting to begin his presentation.

You and I have spoken all these words,
But for the way we have to go words are no preparation.
I have one small drop of knowing in my soul.
Let it dissolve in your ocean!
~Rumi

On October 22, I attended a conference presented by FIONS and New Realities which took place at the Community Church of New York on East 35th Street. The featured speakers, in order of presentation, were Linda Moulton Howe, Whitley Strieber and Richard Dolan. The Master of Ceremonies was Alan Steinfeld of New Realities. FIONS stands for Friends of the Institute of Noetic Sciences which is a non-profit organization associated with IONS, founded by Apollo 14 Astronaut Edgar Mitchell and dedicated to the integration of science and consciousness.

As a multiple experiencer and consciousness researcher myself, I take every reasonable opportunity to interact with other serious persons of a similar description. I was happy to see a number of friends in attendance as well as several hundred other people (perhaps some future friends). The atmosphere was serious and urgent.

First to speak was Linda Moulton Howe of Earthfiles.com. She presented a fascinating lecture about her recent research which has led her to a concept which is at the same time logical and mind blowing: alien self-activating machines. In our own terrestrial scientific research, especially in the bio-medical field, there have been enormous strides made in the last 50 years in all kinds artificial body part replacements. On the other side of the equation, computers are getting smarter and smarter and more lifelike in their interactions with humans. Truly, many intelligent minds have pondered the implications of blurring the distinction between humans and artificial intelligences. Movies have been made for years about this phenomena and I remember “the Bionic Man” and “the Bionic Woman” TV shows from my youth.

Additionally, it has been posited for years that extraterrestrials wishing to traverse the vast expanses of space travelling many light years from star to star might send androids rather than biological beings to live aboard space ships. More recently I have heard the observation that some UFO craft appear to be behaving like actual living beings and morphing shapes.

So at this point I can segue into Linda Moulton Howe’s presentation. Several years ago several sets of related photographs were sent to her at Earthfiles. The subjects of these photos came to be known as dragonfly drone UFOs. She published the images and was criticized by some ufologists because they believed the photos to have been hoaxed by the senders (not Ms. Howe). Since then she has received information regarding the symbols on these craft, the similar symbols on a UFO in Rendlesham Forest by Jim Penniston, and how they relate to some crop circles. She has also received information from retired government insiders seeming to show that the symbols are a self activating software on the outside surface of a living metallic animal UFO. Merely by touching the symbols the machines can be activated, sometimes, it is reported, with disastrous results. She gave a compelling talk that was well received by the audience and I think she was sincere but because of government secrecy we have little direct access to what is known by deep secret sources. I saw some similar symbols during a forced out-of-body experience (possible abduction) two years ago.

Linda Moulton Howe

The beginning of Whitley Strieber‘s presentation touched upon how our human brains can be organically changed by simply thinking about the surreal and how aliens may be changing us. There are so many irreversible changes going on in our environment that we can never return to the world as it once was, so we must evolve to accommodate the changes or perish.

He talked about Dr. Paul Hill, a famous engineer with NACA (the predecessor of NASA) who had a groundbreaking UFO experience in July of 1952 in the company of other witnesses. His work in static field technology and his book Unconventional Flying Objects (Hampton Roads) were suppressed until after his death. Whitley went on to read some passages from his new non-fiction book Solving the Communion Enigma about the alien presence to be released in January which promises to be thought provoking.

The last speaker was Richard Dolan, an eminent historian and chronicler of UFO sightings with three excellent books to prove it. I have seen him do presentations at at least four other venues and he is always interesting and well thought out in his lectures. He looks at the UFO phenomena from the point of history. In 1947, President Harry Truman was aware that the nation was war weary and if the truth about UFO were revealed the world order would be challenged. Oil was also at the center of the issue because a UFO-type propulsion system would end the oil industry and allow for totally unrestricted travel. He has documents on his website that prove US jets chased UFOs.

Dolan says the secrecy and black budgets surrounding UFOs are unconstitutional and therefore illegal. The secret government agencies influenced the mainstream media, which in turn influenced the public to believe that the UFOs were the foolish inventions of overactive imaginations, which they are not. The Department of Defense controls much of the academic scientific community, making sure that government grants are not given for research to those who profess an interest in UFOs. Much of our history has been stolen from us in regards to this and other subjects. It becomes nearly impossible to know what is true and what is not because so much information is classified so deeply that even Congress can’t get at it.

Dolan also contends that there exists a “breakaway” civilization which operates on the trillion dollar black budget and that has (amongst other things like underground bunkers) much better technology than the civilian world, to wit in 1965 the NSA (then a totally secret agency) had computer speeds not seen in the public until after 2000.

He also feels disclosure is inevitable. It may be, but I think disclosure will be incremental as we are already witnessing. Certainly a mass sighting with multiple video capture, a Wikileaks type leak, a presidential deathbed confession or the like might force the hand of the secret keepers.

All in all I enjoyed the conference which may have better been titled UFOs and Government Secrecy!

Richard Dolan

This summer has seen several big moments in the field of ufology. The first is a very sad occasion. On August 21st Budd Hopkins, 80, passed on after a long illness. He was a multi-talented artist who was known for his geometric paintings and sculpture. He was also an alien abduction researcher, giving compassionate attention to experiencers for many years though his Intruders Foundation. He wrote a number of excellent books including Missing Time and Intruders which substantiate the phenomenon of alien abduction through relating the experiences of ordinary individuals and finding patterns in them. I was supposed to meet Mr. Hopkins several times at conferences and at his foundation meetings, but alas, to my great disappointment, this was not to be. Ufology has lost a valiant researcher. Rest in peace, Budd.

New York Times obituary.

On a different topic, (the glad part), ufology has made a wonderful advancement with the release of Break Thru Films documentary “Secret Access: UFOs on the Record” by filmmakers Ricki Stern and Annie Sudberg seen on the History Channel in a 2 hour special on August 25th. It is based upon Leslie Kean’s book, UFOs: Generals, Pilots and 344Government Officials Go On the Record and Ms. Kean is featured prominently in the presentation. Leslie Kean has had a long history as a clear eyed researcher and investigative journalist who co-founded the Coalition for Freedom of Information (CFi) and was a producer with James Fox for the independent film I Know What I Saw. This documentary is a must see for anyone even vaguely interested in the subject of unexplained aerial phenomena. Its irrefutable evidence from sterling sources will turn anyone who is on the fence about the reality and importance of ufology into an advocate for more research into this paradigm shifting subject. In addition to the information also presented in the book, the film had some new data about the Phoenix Lights from NUFORC and a new research project, UFOtog, by special effects master Douglas Trumball.

Finally, I’m angry (mad) about the revelation that author and UFO researcher Philip Imbrogno has completely faked his credentials (bad). It was revealed by skeptic Lance Moody in his blog What the Hell Was That that Imbrogno’s degrees from MIT and elsewhere were entirely bogus. UFO researcher Don Ecker of Dark Matters Radio followed up by checking out his military bona fides. Imbrogno claimed he was a Green Beret in a select group executing missions in Cambodia during the Vietnam War. Ecker discovered it was a total fabrication. This is a real shame because ufology is a study not given credence in all quarters because it is seen as a fringe topic. Any tinge of dishonesty casts major doubt on any research on which the liar has worked. Furthermore it damages the entire field.

I will end this post on a bittersweet note sending my deepest sympathies and profoundest thanks to Leslie Kean who was both the personal companion of Budd Hopkins and the inspiration for this astounding groundbreaking documentary.

Please follow the links in this post if you want more information on the topics discussed herein.

Thoughts about the Budd Hopkins Memorial

by David Biedny on Tuesday, 11 October 2011 at 16:01

I wanted to briefly comment on the memorial held Saturday, October 8, 2011 for Budd Hopkins, at the 15th Street Friends Meeting House. The weather could not have been better, it was a clear, perfect day for this lovely affair celebrating the life and work of this wonderful man – one I’m proud to be able to call a true friend – and it primarily focused on his work in the art field, clearly demonstrating that Budd was really one of the most respected Abstract Expressionists of the famed New York School.

Leslie Kean started the proceedings with her cool, professional demeanor, even though it was obvious that she misses her partner, friend and love. Any of us would be blessed to have that kind of tenderness in our lives, and something that was plain to see was the depth of respect and love that these two people had for each other, it was both reassuring and inspiring.

His daughter showed slides of many of Budd’s artworks, which were bold, colorful and as direct as the man himself. Another thing that many spoke of was Budd’s sense of humor, and I can personally attest that he loved laughing like few others, and there was some really nice footage of Budd being, well, Budd.

Peter Robbins delivered an eloquent eulogy, describing working with Budd, and how much influence Budd had on his own way of thinking and dealing with others. Randy Nicherson played a video tribute to Budd, full of poignant, heartfelt scenes – there was another video compilation presented towards the end, done by Seth Keal and Charles Miller, with some really heartwarming footage of Budd dancing with his granddaughter. Another picture of Budd, his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter clearly demonstrated the uncanny resemblance of Budd and his daughter’s daughter. He will live on in her.

David Jacobs spoke about Budd’s work in the field of abduction research, but what really came through was how much David loved Budd as a human being and close friend. That was also evident in the way that people spoke about Budd afterwards, small conversations overheard during the subsequent reception confirmed that there was not a bad thought about Budd anywhere near the event.

There are many more details – some interesting UFO folks were in attendance, but they were outnumbered by the artist friends, thankfully – but suffice it to say that any of us would be happy and fulfilled to have this much love manifest at our departures.

To those who would attack his research, and accuse him of being a flawed human, of not being 100% hardass about his dealings with alleged abduction victims and potential hoaxers – I personally witnessed the degree of comfort this brave man gave some very distraught people, folks who were scared, confused and who didn’t have anyone to turn to without being marginalized or ridiculed, and for that work alone, he should be celebrated and respected. If he was fooled by some unscrupulous folks, his decision to err on the side of kindness and compassion is perhaps a byproduct of his intensely powerful humanity and sincere desire to help others. Those who would vilify him would be well advised to check their own glass houses for hidden piles of large, rough stones.

Budd Hopkins was a great man, and I for one will miss him something urgent.

On July 3, 2011, I was pleased to be the guest on Kate Valentine’s “Viewpoints”, which is archived at:

http://www.atlanticcoastufos.com/past_shows.html

or on iTunes:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-kate-valentine-ufo-show/id367295290

We discussed some interesting aspects of ufology including my own ideas about what alien intelligence might comprise.

Several weeks prior to this show, I taped another show with Kate and psychologist interested in the UFO phenomena Oddly several copies of that show were lost at the studio, never again to resurface.

Kate Valentine is the host of two radio shows in the New York/New Jersey Metro area both of which deal with the paranormal and primarily but not exclusively UFOs. One is called “the Kate Valentine UFO Show” and is heard on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. on WVNJ AM 1160 and is rebroadcast on Sundays at 4 p.m. The other show is called “Viewpoints” and is heard on Saturday nights at midnight on WNYM AM 970.

Kate is quite a remarkable lady with a decades long keen interest in unidentified aerial phenomena. She has interviewed some of the best and brightest in this field and I highly recommend anyone interested in ufology to check out her menu of past shows or listen in live. Both shows have a call-in feature so it is quite possible to ask questions about your sightings to individuals who are veterans in the area of ufology.

I know that Kate would herself love to have the opportunity to be a space tourist and I hope that wish will come true for her.

Here is a quote from her website:

~For my own part, I declare I know nothing whatever about it, but looking at the stars always makes me dream, as simply as I dream over the black dots representing towns and villages on a map. Why, I ask myself, shouldn’t the shining dots of the sky be as accessible as the black dots on the map of France? — Vincent van Gogh, 1889.

On this blog I have posted two articles concerning how the last solar minimum was longer than usual:

http://fahrusha.wordpress.com/2009/06/18/spiritual-musings-on-the-current-solar-minimum/

http://fahrusha.wordpress.com/2009/10/07/still-not-many-sunspots/

Now we are in the midst of a solar awakening waxing toward a solar maximum in around the year 2013.

However, today the solar physics division of the American Astronomical Society announced that the solar maximum following the one in 2013 is probably not going to be very active if it happens at all. It seems the Sun is going through a period of dormancy. If this turns out to be true, there is likely to be colder weather on Earth. This may act to combat the man-made global warming we have caused with our petrochemical excesses.

I am not a particularly religious person but I consider myself to be very spiritual. In the words of Robert Monroe, I certainly have experienced that “I am more than my physical body.” I can’t help thinking that it is possible that a power greater than me has had a hand in this and is saving humanity and the other life on this planet from the excesses of mankind. I do not know the identity of this power, if it is a deity or an advanced alien civilization one hundred thousand years ahead of our own that somehow has a vested interest in our survival. Maybe I am simply a romantic to consider such a notion but I have experienced first hand that there are other beings in our midst that are intangible to most of us in our 4D world.

Even if that turns out to be the case, long solar minimums are not without their downsides. Consider if you will the Maunder Minimum spanning from 1645 to 1715 which ushered in a mini-ice age. If the weather becomes sufficiently colder it will impact agricultural output and we all know what substantially less food would mean in a world already struggling with famine and overpopulation.

New Solar System (image credit- Tim Pyle NASA)

This is a very exciting time for astronomers, amateur astronomers, astronomy buffs, ufologists and aware citizens of the world.

First and foremost this week a new solar system with six planets has been discovered along with an additional 1200 exo-planetary candidates by the NASA Kepler Spacecraft. Probably as I am writing this, the number will change in the upward direction. This information is being added to daily. The Kepler Spacecraft has been a wonderful success for NASA. I urge all my readers to click on my links to detailed information at NASA on this fascinating program and the mechanics of the Kepler Spacecraft.

The star with the newly found solar system, Kepler 11, is said to be Sun sized. The amazing thing here is that five of the six planets found around Kepler 11 are in very close orbits around Kepler 11 and all six are thought to be rocky objects like the Earth and Mars and the Moon. In the beginning of the discovery of exoplanets, almost all the planets discovered were gas giants like Jupiter and Saturn but much larger and closer in to their stars- not what would be considered to be hospitable to life as we know it. That all changed in Autumn 2010 with the discovery of a rocky planet only 20 light years away orbiting a red dwarf star, Gliese 581, in the so-called Goldilocks or habitable zone – a region where liquid water could exist on a planet’s surface.

So it begins to seem that habitable planets may be relatively common in our galaxy. This idea was considered to be foolish in scientific circles within very recent history. We add to this idea that the Universe is proving to be larger than anyone expected and appears to hold three times the number of stars many astronomers might have estimated only a year ago. We are poised at the brink of a paradigm shift comparable to or greater than the one Galileo started with his non Geocentric model of the solar system. (The earliest heliocentric model of the solar system was by Philolaus in the fifth century BC, but was not widely adopted. Philolaus was a Sun worshipper. Is the Sun a conscious being? I think so.) In short, our beloved Solar System appears to be one of trillions out there. There are probably millions of solar systems in our Milky Way Galaxy and there are billions of galaxies. There is no reason not to believe that many other galaxies have stars with solar systems. Similarly there is no reason not to postulate that many of these solar systems have rocky planets in the habitable zone with water on them.

Where there is water there is likely to be life. Meteorites have told us that the building blocks of life exist in space. Rudimentary life can exist in extremely harsh conditions. There are stars in this galaxy that are far older than the sun, and galaxies that are far older than the Milky Way. It does not require a big leap from these facts for us to expect to find advanced civilizations on some of these rocky, watery planets. If some of the civilizations out there are tens of thousands of years more advanced than ours, might they not be visiting our habitable rock with it’s cruel warlike dominant ape species we like to call “human beings”? It is indeed an exciting and frightening time to be alive!

Andromeda Galaxy courtesy of NASA

It is appropriate that this post is being written on the anniversary of the discovery of x-rays. I had to take some time after having this inspiration or transmission or message (I’m not sure how to name it), to percolate and distill the information I’ve received. This will probably be one of my odder posts.

I am very interested in astronomy, especially cosmology, since childhood and take every available opportunity to look through a telescope. In my last post I recounted a visit to Jenny Jump State Forest in New Jersey to look through their telescopes and hear a lecture. One of the celestial objects I was fortunate to see was the Andromeda Galaxy. A gentleman who was standing behind me pointedly said, “The photons currently hitting your retina travelled 20.9 million light years to reach you.” He said nothing else and I never saw his face. He was not the young man operating the telescope, who was also offering up some astronomical facts. He was probably an astronomy club member.

The statement struck me and stayed with me. I had pondered on several occasions, including that very night, the almost unimaginable, uncanny fact that the light generated by stars and galaxies was produced years ago to ages ago, but I never thought about that specific light as photons, individual discrete packages of light particles. The thought stirred something inside of me.

The following weeks on two succesive Thursdays I participated in specific meditations on light suggested by a meditation group member named Roxan L. (you know who you are :-) ). These meditations did not have a celestial component, however after trying them several times a channel seemed to open in my mind. I received highly unusual information from a Source I could not identify as I lay in an altered state on my bed in the darkest wee hours of the morning.

Briefly stated, I was told that the photons traveling to Earth from distant stars and galaxies contained information that could be transmitted to the Earth and Her creatures. Each light body radiates its own specific light, its own photons containing its unique information which can be subtly passed on to us. Specifically it seems that we humans can have our DNA worked upon by these photons and we can thereby evolve. It was further stated that this would become scientific fact in years from now. This proof is quite some time ahead of us, perhaps not in our lifetimes. For now we must attempt to cut down on nighttime artificial light pollution and keep watching the stars at night. Our evolution and our collecting of subtle information is being slowed down by nighttime light pollution and this could become a serious issue for the health of the beings on this planet.

Up until now I knew that artificial lighting at night can cause problems with our Circadian rhythms and sleep patterns and thus make us fatter. I had no idea it could be hindering the evolution of our DNA. Well, dear reader, I specifically mentioned at the start of this post that it was a strange one.

Update: I just got shivers. I found this article directly after I posted this blogspot a few minutes ago. It deals with the information that can be contained in electrons and photons that can be transmitted to creatures through quantum entanglement. Please read it. Now I feel a lot less weird and somewhat vindicated. I did my meditation on a Thursday night in October. This research was published on November 3, 2010. Major synchronicity!

There is a wonderful dark sky location convenient to Metro NYC and Philadelphia, as well as Northern NJ, Eastern PA and Southern NY State. Within the Jenny Jump State Forest in Hope, NJ, the site is run by UACNJ, the United Astronomy Clubs of New Jersey. Every Saturday night they have a featured speaker with audio-visual extras inside a small museum/clubhouse and the fee is a donation. After the speaker is finished one can go outside and look at the skies. There are people on hand with telescopes and if the night is clear amazing things can be seen.

The evening I attended, the lecture was by an astronomy professor Lonny Bunis from Raritan Valley Community College, another time I spoke with an astronomy professor from NJIT, Dr. Dale Gary, who had discovered an exoplanet. I was very impressed! I also saw Jupiter and her four Galilean moons including a shadow cast on the surface of Jupiter by one of them. So for a portion of Jupiter there was an eclipse at that time. Jupiter has 63 known moons so these little lunar eclipses must be a common occurence. The comet Hartley 2, a nebula, Uranus, and the Andromeda Galaxy were other things I saw through the 16″ reflecting telescope. A club member ably manned and focused those sights in the telescope for visitors to see. Light from the Andromeda Galaxy takes two and a half billion light years to reach the Earth. Light from our Sun takes approximately 20 minutes to reach us. So everything that you see in the sky exists in the past. For all we know the Andromeda Galaxy is no longer there! I also saw three meteors careening through the night sky.

The environmental issue here is that we are losing the ability to see the stars because artificial lighting is polluting the night sky so it never really gets dark enough in most places to see these celestial marvels. Artificial lighting can be made less strong and so that its light reflects downward toward the Earth causing less light to escape upwards towards the sky.

The International Dark Sky Association works to combat light pollution.

The book in question is UFOs, Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record by Leslie Kean. It is a well researched and carefully written book by a serious and well respected investigative journalist with chapters written by first hand UFO observers in multiple witness cases who are also (as the title suggests) generals, pilots and government officials. Mostly the book does not champion a source of these craft which behave as though intelligently controlled and appear to be metallic, however several of the witnesses propose the ETH (extraterrestrial hypothesis) as the most likely scenario. Other ideas put forth (not in the book) are that the craft are crypto-terrestrial, demonic, inter-dimensional, or time traveling. I personally have no trouble thinking of them as possibly both inter-dimensional and extraterrestrial but that may be fodder for another article.

Leslie Kean’s book is now on the New York Times bestseller list as well it should be. I recommend purchasing the book as a holiday or birthday gift for your skeptical friends because it makes a rather air tight case that the phenomena is real. Ms. Kean is also a founder of the Coalition for Freedom of Information and has pressed forward for US government documents using the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) particularly around the 1965 Kecksburg incident in Pennsylvania.

The book goes on to explore the possible dangers to aviation that UFOs pose and makes a case for a serious UFO government agency to be established in the United States as such agencies have been established in other countries.

Ms. Kean has been interviewed on many mainstream news shows as well as UFO-interest radio shows and podcasts. I chanced to read James Oberg’s piece , an NBC reporter’s very biased critique of her book about a week ago and was stunned that he had the nerve to trot out the old debunker’s patently ridiculous statement that career pilots are no better observers of aerial phenomena than the average person. When anyone makes such an outrageous statement, for me, the argument is over. It defies imagination that he should expect anyone to believe him. I don’t think he believes that himself or he would be well advised not to travel by air. It can only be that he has another agenda, a reason that he wants the public to discount all reports of UFOs. It is the height of humano-centric hubris to steadfastly hold that there is no other intelligent life in our vast cosmos. Is Mr. Oberg a disinformation agent? I don’t know, but he definitely has an agenda and that agenda is not to promote open minded inquiry. We must wonder why.

Today I came across a rebuttal of James Oberg by Leslie Kean herself and I reprint it here with the object that more readers will realize that Mr. Oberg is an agenda driven debunker:

SKEPTIC MISSES POINT BEHIND UFO BOOK
SOLID SIGHTINGS CITED IN UFOS¹; SERIOUS INVESTIGATION NEEDED
By Leslie Kean

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38977500/

When I wrote my book about officially documented UFO reports, I fully
expected the skeptics to react. That¹s why I was careful to focus only on
the very best evidence from the most credible sources in “UFOs: Generals,
Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record.” <http://bit.ly/cH72wg>
Since 95 percent of all sightings are eventually identified, the book is
concerned only with the remaining 5 percent — those UFO events that have
been thoroughly investigated, involve multiple witnesses and ample data, but
still cannot be explained.

That didn¹t stop James Oberg, a space analyst for NBC News, from complaining
that the book was based on a ³questionable foundation.²

STORY: UFO BOOK BASED ON QUESTIONABLE FOUNDATION
By James Oberg
MSNBC
August 27, 2010
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38852385/ns/technology_and_science-space

In the biographical note appended to his commentary, he notes that he spent
22 years at NASA¹s Mission Control and has written books about space policy
and exploration. But he neglects to inform readers of something UFO
researchers already know all too well: that he is a founding fellow of the
Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI, formerly CSICOP), a group whose aim is
to debunk UFOs and any other unexplained phenomena that challenge our
familiar ways of thinking.

For many years, Oberg, while retaining his stance as an objective student of
the UFO phenomenon, has been a consistently vocal skeptic. His long list of
articles dealing with UFOs date from the 1970s and are posted on his website
under the heading “space folklore,” which accurately sums up his attitude
towards the subject. He may be qualified to serve as an unbiased, expert
consultant on Russian or Chinese missile systems, but not on UFOs.

His objection to my many varied cases has to do with his notion that pilots
are poor observers. To buttress this idea, he quotes J. Allen Hynek
referring to questionable statistics compiled in the 1960s by Project Blue
Book. He also cites Russian researchers describing two events in 1982 when
pilot sightings were accurately identified as “military balloons” after the
fact.

This is not surprising, since the vast majority of sightings can be
explained, and this kind of identification is made all the time. However,
such solved sightings — whether made by pilots or anyone else — have
absolutely nothing to do with the cases presented in my book.

I wonder if Oberg gave “UFOs” a careful read. He spent many paragraphs
quoting me concerning a report on aviation cases by French researcher
Dominique Weinstein. The problem is, those are not my quotes. The chapter
from which he extracted them was written by Jean-Jacques Velasco, head of
the French government’s UFO agency for over 20 years, as is obvious in his
byline and narrative about French research.

Oberg gleefully proclaims that I have ³faithfully vouched for² the cases in
Weinstein’s list, but actually, I have respectfully allowed Velasco to write
his own chapter. (About half the chapters in my book were written by highly
credentialed authorities and expert witnesses.) If Oberg wants to discuss
the Weinstein study, he’ll have to contact Velasco.

Oberg¹s fixation on the question of the reliability of pilots as witnesses
is not raised by the generals and aviation experts I have interviewed –
officials who have studied pilot cases and interviewed pilot witnesses for
decades. As described in “UFOs,” French Air Force Maj. Gen. Denis Letty
initiated an extensive study of UFO data because competent pilots he knew
personally were confronted by the phenomenon. Chilean Gen. Ricardo Bermudez
was instrumental in the founding of his country’s official UFO investigative
agency in 1997 because of inexplicable sightings involving pilots.

Richard Haines, who has written more than 70 papers in leading scientific
journals and published more than 25 U.S. government reports for NASA, was
formerly chief of the space agency’s Space Human Factors Office and served
for 21 years as a retired senior aerospace scientist at NASA’s Ames Research
Center. Having studied pilot sightings and related aviation safety issues
for more than 30 years, and having personally interviewed hundreds of pilots
during that time, Haines has concluded that pilots are indeed excellent
witnesses, given their thorough training, expertise and hours of flying
time.

Haines is now chief scientist for the National Aviation Reporting Center on
Anomalous Phenomena. Sadly, most pilots never report their sightings, as he
points out in “UFOs.”

Most importantly, the aerial cases documented in “UFOs” — and many more on
the record elsewhere — involve multiple factors such as:

- Sightings of long duration, allowing for accurate voice transmissions and
the refinement of the initial identification.

- Multiple witnesses — co-pilot, crew, passengers, other aircraft in
different locations, and occasionally observers from the ground.

- Onboard radar and ground radar recording the presence of a physical
object, often corresponding exactly to the visual sighting.

- Direct physical effects on the aircraft, such as equipment malfunction.

As an example, Brig. Gen. Jose Periera of Brazil, commander of air force
operations until 2005, reports on an “array of UFOs” observed over his
country in 1986. Two pilots chased one of the objects for 30 minutes.
Numerous other pilots saw the objects. Radar recorded them. Six jets were
scrambled from two Brazilian air force bases to pursue them. Some of the
pilots made visual contact corresponding to radar registrations. Both
military and commercial pilots were involved. Onboard as well as ground
radar systems confirmed the presence of the objects.

³We have the correlation of independent readings from different sources,²
Periera writes. ³These data have nothing to do with human eyes. When, along
with the radar, a pilot’s pair of eyes sees that same thing, and then
another pilot’s, and so on, the incident has real credibility and stands on
a solid foundation.²

In 2007, airline captain Ray Bowyer saw two gigantic, bright yellow objects
suspended over the English Channel, which he observed carefully for 15
minutes. His passengers saw them, another pilot on a second aircraft was
also a witness, and an object was registered on radar.

In 1986, three Japan Airlines pilots watched a series of UFOs for 30
minutes, communicating with air traffic control while radar operators picked
up the objects in corresponding locations.

I could go on with many more examples, presented in detail in the book.
Oberg says pilots may misinterpret visual phenomena when forced to make a
split-second diagnosis before taking immediate action — very rare cases, I
would assume — and no one would disagree with that. But, just as was the
case with the solved Russian sightings I discussed earlier, this is entirely
beside the point with respect to my book, because the cases presented do not
involve such a scenario.

In addition, “UFOs: General, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the
Record” presents many other cases that do not involve pilots at all — but
often military personnel and police officers — including:

- The famous 1980 incident near RAF Bentwaters in Britain, involving the
landing of a UFO and objects sending beams of light to the ground.

- The 1981 “Trans-en-Provence” landing case in France, investigated by the
official French agency GEPAN.

- Belgian Maj. Gen. Wilfried De Brouwer’s report on the wave of sightings in
Belgium in 1989-90, which includes a spectacular photograph.

- The 1993 “Cosford Incident” involving a UFO over two Air Force bases in
Britain, investigated by the Ministry of Defense.

- The 1997 Phoenix Lights incident that former Arizona Gov. Fife Symington
described.

These are just a few of a host of cases with abundant data that don’t rely
on pilot observations — and which are still unsolved. It’s the aggregate of
cases, the accumulation of evidence and the long-running but unsuccessful
attempts of qualified experts to resolve them that establishes the reality
of a yet-unexplained physical phenomenon with extraordinary capabilities.

Oberg says that “if investigators are unable to find the explanation for a
particular UFO case, that doesn’t constitute proof that the case is
unexplainable.² Fair enough. Perhaps there is some prosaic explanation still
to be discovered. ThereŒs always that possibility, no matter how small.

But we remain in a state of ignorance concerning UFOs, leaving us with the
conclusion presented in the book: We need a systematic, scientific
investigation of the skies that actively looks for these mysterious and
elusive objects. In the meantime, all I ask is that devout skeptics like
Oberg read the entire book before raising objections that actually have no
bearing on the matter at hand.

On October 10, 2010 I have discovered a very good article by another paranormal blogger about this subject and the airport shutdowns by UFOs in China.

Lisa Hirshfield, Larry "Ratso" Sloman, Anthony Matt, Doug Skinner and the infamous worm painting

On Sunday July 11, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Jalopy Theater, 315 Columbia Street in Brooklyn, Doug Skinner and the Ullage Group organized an afternoon commemorating the life of John A. Keel. The afternoon included readings from some of Keel’s lesser known works read by Mr. Skinner, Lisa Hirshfield, Larry “Ratso” Sloman and Anthony Matt.

I had read with rapt interest Keel’s most famous work, The Mothman Prophesies, some years ago and I’d also seen the movie of the same name loosely based upon the book. When I read the book I remember thinking how some of the more random paranormal events (not related directly to the Mothman story itself and not depicted in the film) mirrored some odd events in my life. I knew that Keel lived in New York City and I was peripherally acquainted with a large number of people who knew or had met Keel. I’d expressed interest to some of them in meeting him, but alas, that was not to be.

The presentation began with Doug Skinner toasting the memory of John A. Keel by drinking a can of Glucerna (a nutritional drink for diabetics). I learned that Keel’s given name was Alva John Kiehle. Lisa Hirshfield then read his first published work from 1945 when he was 15 years old. His wry sense of humor was evident even then.

During his stint in the military in the early 1950s Keel worked for the armed forces network out of Cairo, Egypt. The audience was treated to an audio clip of his presentation from inside the Giza pyramid, followed shortly by a kitschy song named “Jadoo” promoting his book (of the same title) of adventures in the Middle East and Africa. I am a proud owner of the book Jadoo! We saw a remarkable movie he made in New York City in the 1960s called “On Exhibition”. In it Keel played a drunk at the Museum of Modern Art.

Keel wrote sleaze novels under the pseudonym Harry Gibbs. Some excerpts from these were read by Larry “Ratso” Sloman, Keel’s friend, sometimes employer, and editor of High Times Magazine. Soon after we saw the worm painting pictured above painted by 35 earthworms in October 1960 for Merv Griffin’s TV show “Play Your Hunch”, for which Keel was a writer.

Later in the 1960s Keel pitched a film treatment called ” Nudists From Outer Space” read by Anthony Matt. Finally a video clip from John Keel’s appearance on the David Letterman Show in the 1980s was played. He discussed a variety of paranormal phenomena.

I really enjoyed this look into John A. Keel’s life, although I had expected more time to be devoted to the paranormal. I was pleased to meet some other anomalists after the performance including Geoff who is working on a fascinating movie about UFOs filmed over New York City called “Believing Is Seeing“.

How do you feel about your intelligence? Do you think you are smart? Or do you believe that though you’ll never master the Calculus you are the possessor of lots of common sense, which in the end may be much more valuable? Or perhaps you believe that had some failed subject been properly taught to you, you would now be the master of it. It is my observation that most people believe that they are clever in some ways that matter most. I guess in general that is a good thing especially for self esteem and thus, well-being.

Howard Gardener, a American developmental psychologist, identified eight distinct kinds of intelligence in the 1980s. A friend of mine is always remarking about some other person’s lack of emotional intelligence, believing himself to be the master of emotional intelligence (he is not). I suspect that there is something valuable to be learned from this theory of multiple intelligences. One can certainly take pride in one’s specific brand of intelligence.

But have you ever met someone who was so much smarter than you that it was staggering?

That may be what would happen if you ever encountered an extraterrestrial or inter-dimensional being. By extraterrestrial I mean a being that has traveled from somewhere in the cosmos to visit Earth, not a slime mold (or the like) that is discovered by the Mars Rover to exist in a cave on Mars (though perhaps the said slime mold is all super brain and is controlling us remotely [just kidding, I think]). These beings might have other types of intelligence or skills that are either unimaginable or uncommon in humans. Telepathy may be the rule with some of these beings rather than the exception, shape shifting might be an everyday occurence rather than the stuff of fables. They may extract our spirits from our bodies, causing an out of body experience (OOBE), by using our natural physiological state of sleep paralysis.

(Please note in this piece the careful use of “may” rather than “is”. I am hypothesizing here, exploring the possibilities.)

The question here is what effect would the vastly superior intelligence have on human culture? We are speaking here of a greater, more multifaceted intelligence, not simply of a technological superiority.

Look what can happen when a less technological advanced human society meets a more technologically advanced human society: cargo cults (One would be well advised to read this article about cargo cults in the South Pacific to see what astonishingly untrue conclusions the human mind can come to due to exposure to simply more technologically advanced humans). Thusly I conclude that everything humans theorize about ETs and interdimensionals may be stunningly offbase including everything I’ve written in this blog piece. :-)

Researchers looking for evidence that ETs visited the Earth in the historical past point to stories of Gods, Goddesses, Angels and the Elohim as possible visitations by ETs or interdimensionals. That may be, but as of now I can think of no conclusive way to prove these ideas with any certainty, so they remain the stuff of conjecture. Speaking of which, my small mind cannot think of any reason that Angels, for instance, could not be defined as interdimensional beings in or outside of religion.

Do we create, that is manifest these beings with our collective consciousness (or subconscious group mind) or do these beings manifest us with their super minds? Or is there any difference between the two, if in fact we are all One?

Update: 07/08/10 Synchronisticly on the same day I published this post, another article Communicating With The Universe

was published about blasting the contents of the internet into space. NASA apparently is not taking seriously Stephen Hawking’s admonition about the inadvisability of advertising Earth culture to aliens (lest we become slaves or luncheon meat).

Whitley Strieber has an interesting take on the subject of alien intelligence: http://www.unknowncountry.com/journal/?id=416 (more…)

the largest Moon of Saturn

Titan, the largest Moon of Saturn

While here on Earth we are allowing rapacious corporate interests (BP, Halliburton, et.al.) to kill off millions of years of evolution, in another part of our solar system, life may be evolving:

http://www.spacedaily.com/reports/Have_We_Discovered_Evidence_For_Life_On_Titan_999.html

Earlier this year on this blog, (http://fahrusha.wordpress.com/2010/02/05/no-ufo-disclosure-in-sight-in-2010-but-possibly-an-earth-shaking-revelation/) I predicted that while it was unlikely that there would be any government disclosure on U.F.O.s, it was probable that it would be announced in the not so distant future that rudimentary life had been found elsewhere in the universe. I believe that the above referenced report on Titan, the largest moon Saturn, is a vanguard in this important development. The type of life postulated on Titan would be methane based. If that is the case, it would change the way many researchers think about life as strictly a carbon based system.

The Huygens probe, part of the Cassini-Hugyens space mission, was the first Earth based probe to land on Titan. The mission was launched from Earth in 1997 and the Huygens probe landed on January 14, 2005 and continued to send data for about 90 minutes after reaching the surface of Titan. Its discovery of surface liquid revolutionized scientific thought about Titan.

Pamela and Thomas Campbell

As many of my readers already know, I am a big fan of Robert Monroe, author of Journeys Out Of Body and founder of the Monroe Institute. About a year ago, a book with the unlikely name of My Big T.O.E, came to my attention. It was written by Thomas Campbell who worked with Bob Monroe in the early years, when Monroe was beginning the Institute. Initially My Big T.O.E, was published as three separate volumes, but more recently it was republished as a giant paperback and I bought it. T.O.E., by the way, stands for theory of everything. This book is an engaging tome but don’t expect to buzz through it in a weekend. It requires careful thoughtful reading and I rarely was able to read more than 10-20 pages a sitting. Even then I was often forced to reread paragraphs to truly digest their meaning. It is one thing to understand the words and quite another to own the concepts set forth by those words.

Tom Campbell is a nuclear physicist who has spent much of his career working for NASA and the book is based in scientific inquiry. He is well versed in all manner of cosmology and physical theories of the Universe from Newton through Einstein and beyond into Quantum physics and string theory. He is convinced that the known Universe is both virtual and digital and he can prove it to anyone who will listen (or read). But Campbell is also a meta-physician.

Needless to say these ideas had me spellbound, so when I went to his website to glean more information, it was extremely synchronistic to discover that he had a seminar in NYC in a month’s time. I cleared my calendar for that weekend and registered.

The program was held at the MetaCenter on West 29th Street, a very convenient, clean, central NYC location. Friday night was the (free) introduction to the ideas embodied in the book; on Saturday Campbell worked through the theoretical implications of the “Theory of Everything”; and on Sunday those implications were tested on a practical level with exercises in healing and remote viewing.

The basic starting point of the program was to establish the nature of reality. Most models of reality fail to go beyond the physical 3 or 4D world and fail to consider what happened or what existed before or outside the “Big Bang”. Many scientists start with unsupportable assumptions. Reality is not synonymous with the models we make to explain it to ourselves and others. Physical reality as we experience it is an illusion of our senses. We get some data and extrapolate it into this reality model, when it actually exists only as a probability, until we make a measure of it. Consciousness is at the base of each of our realities and is therefore personal and not truly objective.

There is more, much more, that I cannot delve into in the space of this blog. It is all worthwhile considering.

I found myself largely agreeing with the conclusions of Tom Campbell with the exception of a certain (very esoteric) position on the nature of time outside our physical matter reality. That minor difference of opinion really makes no practical difference in the application of the principles set forth in Campbell’s “Big T.O.E.” (As an aside, he is actually a rocket scientist and I am not, so I’m guessing his opinion on this matter might have more sway than mine :-) ) The manner in which he has explained some of those things that I had already discovered on my own to be true, was extraordinarily helpful in explaining those principles to others.

I highly recommend My Big T.O.E. to seekers and philosophers of all stripes. If you have a chance to go to one of his seminars, do it! In his workshops he is aided by his lovely wife, Pamela (pictured above) and Keith Warner and Donna Aveni (pictured below) who also book the seminars under the name MBT Events and do everything humanly possible to make you feel welcome.

A little bit about David Biedny:
Working at Industrial Light and Magic, he produced digital effects for a number of major motion pictures, including: Hudson Hawk • Terminator 2: Judgment Day • Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country • The Rocketeer • Memoirs of an Invisible Man • Hook
David’s image processing knowledge and skills have enabled him to assist various researchers and investigators in the paranormal and UFO fields, and he has served as an image analyst for the Above Top Secret website, UFO Magazine and George Knapp. Recently, Biedny contributed his extensive analysis of reported photographs that emerged from the O’Hare Airport UFO sighting, of November 2006, to the research group NARCAP, and was cited in the acknowledgements of the report issued by NARCAP on the O’Hare case.

Many psychologists, while explaining away the accounts of people who claim they have been abducted by aliens, say that those individuals are victims of sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is a physical condition which allows the body of a dreamer to be immobilized while dreaming thereby preventing the individual from acting out their dreams and perhaps getting injured or killed. If you are dreaming that you are jumping from your fourth story window to fly to France it is evolutionarily advantageous that you are in a state of sleep paralysis, no argument there.

But is sleep paralysis more than that? Does it have another function? I have had various episodes of sleep paralysis since childhood that were both exceedingly terrifying and interesting, however most memorable episodes had an addition element, that of a very fierce and painful vibration in the head and the face, particularly (in my case) in the area around my nose and hypothetical third eye (between the eyes). First I found I couldn’t move (sleep paralysis) but I was awake in my bed in my bedroom. Then my face and head would begin to buzz dramatically. I’d fight it and either succumb or wrangle myself out of the state. Most often I’d be aware of another being in the room with me and more than not I was afraid of that being because it would be attempting to pull me out-of-body against my volition.

My own experiences were varied and mostly terror inducing. I will not cover the complete content of them now. But after I had a UFO sighting in my teen years some of the experiences took on a different flavor. The being in the room with me was repeatedly the same over a large number of years and imparted to me certain information most of which I don’t wish to disclose in this venue at this time, but I will say that I would describe that being as a tall 7-8 foot radiant humanoid with longish blonde hair, a sort of angel without wings. Was it a dream? I don’t know, I don’t believe so. Was I an abductee or contactee? I don’t know. I do know that 17-year-old me wrote a letter to a parapsychology organization, pleading for help to no avail.

It was not until I was an adult a number of years later that I was quite miraculously drawn to the work of Robert Monroe (that is a very fascinating story in itself for another blog piece) that I read of someone (Monroe) who shared the sensations of the fierce vibrations and worked through his fear to have varied out-of-body experiences in which he met a number of unusual beings. The first of his books, Journeys Out of Body, chronicles his experiences with the vibrations and the OOBEs. I also subsequently took several seminars at the Monroe Institute wherein I began to control some of the vibrations and instead of ravaging my head they pulsated pleasantly through my body. I called this phenomena “running energy”. I even went willingly out-of-body! At TMI I met many people who had had similar experiences. I also became aware that these vibrations were more common in spiritual literature than I had ever imagined. I am currently compiling a list of authors and their books, and religious figures who have reported this phenomena. While at TMI, I run energy, but still away from that environment I am sometimes the victim of the fierce vibrations and the sometimes troubling events that follow upon them.

But I wish to leave my own experiences to postulate something of a hypothesis of what could be happening here. A human being (and most mammals) are at their most vulnerable while asleep. They are even more vulnerable when they are in a state of “sleep paralysis”. What if entities, good, harmful or neutral, were aware of the human mammalian function of sleep paralysis and could cause it at will in any susceptible human? That would explain many abduction accounts and also accounts of spiritual revelation. It is possible that all persons who experience the paralysis and the vibrations are not receiving contact from the same beings. According to mathematicians at least eleven dimensions exist in our Universe, though we are sensorially aware of only four. In addition whole parallel universes have been postulated by some scientists. The vibrations would seem to be a crucial part of the ability to receive communication from these beings who may inhabit another dimensional plane. They may need to change our vibration to attempt to communicate with us or transport us into another time space continuum. To some humans, the total loss of volition can be horrifying and can lead to mental suffering as they attempt to make sense of these bizarre experiences.

In terms of alien abduction, it is not known from whence indeed the “aliens” might come. They may be space travellers, time travellers or inter-dimensional travellers or all of the above. What is generally agreed upon is that if they have perfected any of these modes of travel they are more advanced technologically than humans are currently. We are rank beginners in our exploration of the Universe. What we know of Our Universe is so little in comparison to what can be known that we must remain humble in our quest for knowledge.

An interesting look at how we might perceive another dimension can be hound at: http://www.lucidcrossroads.co.uk/astral.htm There are other things on this page that are interesting, but I do not necessarily endorse (nor condemn). The part of the page I am referring to involves an explanation of going from two dimensions into three. Another more detailed example of this can be found in the book, Flatland, A Romance of Many Dimensions by Edwin Abbott Abbott.

Check back to this post as I plan to edit and revise it to include the experiences of others as well as references to published authors. Feel free to suggest other authors and their works to the list especially with quotes or page references.

I have been reading a number of accounts recently about a new crop of cattle mutilations taking place in the Southwest. There have also been reports of mutilations in Great Britain of cattle and perhaps water buffalo. The first thing that must be ascertained is whether there is a pedestrian explanation for any an individual case. Such prosaic explanations would include predatory animals killing livestock or ritual animal murder by a cult. To me ritual murder of animals is repulsive but it is not paranormal. In examining the possibilities concerning those reports that are truly anomalous I have come to the following conclusions: It appears that the killers come by air, because in the truly anomalous cases there are no tracks to be seen. There are also no teeth marks and often the victims have had organs and tissues removed with beyond normal surgical precision. There are often reports of both UFOs and helicopters being seen in the area. Helicopters may indicate that humans are involved and it has been speculated that government agencies are involved. Some people think that the government or some parallel agency is testing for Mad Cow Disease. There is some plausibility to this concept, but why as in the recent case below test four calves from one farm? And why the weird coring procedures? It seems more likely to me that someone in a helicopter, likely from the government, has observed or heard that a mutilation has taken place and is investigating it themselves, but as with many questionable government investigations, will not admit to doing so.

This is reminiscent of reports of UFOs from Stephenville, Texas, wherein certain reliable citizens who made radar verifiable reports were hounded by helicopters and told by phone calls purportedly from Air Force personnel to keep quiet.

There is an even stranger explanation of the helicopters as screen memories. It is speculated that the occupants of UFOs are able to replace memories of accidental observers with more prosaic images, or perhaps the human brains of some observers are not able to process seeing a UFO.

CATTLE MUTILATIONS BAFFLE COLORADO RANCHERS

story

DENVER – Manuel A. Sanchez has ruled out every logical explanation for the
fate that has befallen the calves on his ranch in southern Colorado.

Over the past month, he’s found four calves dead in a way that he cannot
reconcile with anything in his 50 years of raising cattle: eyes and ears
missing, tongues and genitals excised in what appeared to be a series of
fine cuts.

Mountain lions, bears or coyotes would leave messier marks, he said. And
Sanchez found no tire tracks or footprints that would suggest a human
invader — nor even bloodstains he’d expect to find around the carcasses if
someone had butchered them.

“There’s nothing to go by,” said Sanchez, who estimated his financial loss
at $10,000. “I can’t figure it out.”

Costilla County Sheriff’s Sgt. James Chavez agreed: “There’s nothing to
follow up on.”

Besides Sanchez’s calves in San Luis, several cases have been reported near
Trinidad.

It’s not the first time.

In the 1970s, ranchers in eastern and southern Colorado filed more than 200
mutilation reports, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation reports.
The agency investigated, even conducting an undercover operation, but to no
avail.

“It was such a bewilderment,” recalled Tillie Bishop, a state senator at the
time.

Some people suspected satanic cults. Others grew convinced of an
otherworldly explanation — space aliens.

But rancher Bill Bledsoe of Hugo, in eastern Colorado, said the deaths
weren’t suspicious at all.

“People find a dead animal and think it died strange, but usually it turned
out something had been eating on it,” he said. “I think they were just
jumping to conclusions.”

Some veterinarians also attributed the mutilations to predators.

Northern New Mexico suffered scores of cases too. A 1980 report by a state
task force blamed predators. Ranchers widely panned it.

Then the mutilations appeared to stop.

But in the mid-1990s, 27 cattle in northern New Mexico were mutilated in 16
months, the Associated Press reported. Again, ranchers found cattle with
genitals removed, tongues cut off at the roots, and eyes and ears missing.
The incisions appeared to have been cauterized, they said.

Again, the reports stopped.

This year, reports began trickling in from southern Colorado.

In March, Mike Duran discovered a cow dead on his ranch near Trinidad, the
udder and vagina missing. “It was like a laser cut,” not a rip, said Duran.
He’d seen such carnage before: In the ’90s, he found a dead cow missing the
same parts.

Sheriff’s investigators were mystified. “I don’t know how to explain it.
They’re just missing. There’s no evidence of blood, of anything being cut,”
said Las Animas County Undersheriff Derek Navarette.

In northeastern Colorado, some Weld County ranchers joke about “coyotes with
scalpels,” the Greeley Tribune reported. Some don’t bother reporting
mutilations anymore because of skeptics, the paper said.

The Las Animas County sheriff’s office investigated another case in March in
which a cow was missing the udder. There was no sign of human or animal
presence. “Unexplainable once again,” Navarette said.

He said his office didn’t order necropsies because of the prohibitive cost.

About 100 miles away, Sanchez found two dead calves in late October. A week
later, a third carcass was found, and the fourth in mid-November.

Frustrated by the lack of leads, Sanchez consulted Chuck Zukowski, a
Colorado Springs paranormal investigator who runs UFOnut.com.

Zukowski also investigated the cases in Trinidad, taking tissue samples from
two of those animals to Colorado State University.

Veterinary experts determined that the cuts were made before death and
didn’t involve cauterization.

Zukowski says he’s as baffled as everyone else.

Sanchez said that with the mystery unsolved, he didn’t want to risk losing
any of his 32 remaining calves the same way. So he sold them at auction this
month.

“I didn’t know when this was going to end,” said Sanchez, who has 40 cows
left. “There’s no way to catch these people. I don’t even know if it’s
people.”

Colorado cow mutilations baffle ranchers, cops, UFO believer

// ]]>SAN LUIS — Manuel Sanchez tucks his leathery hands into well-worn pockets and nods toward a cedar tree where, last month, he found his fourth mysteriously slaughtered calf in as many weeks.

“I have no idea what could do this. I wish I did,” he says.

Four calves, all killed overnight. Their innards gone. Tongues sliced out. Udders carefully removed. Facial skin sliced and gone. Eyes cored away. Not a single track surrounding the carcasses, which were found in pastures locked behind two gates and a mile from any road. Not a drop of blood on the ground or even on the remaining skin.

In his life in the piñon-patched pastures where his father and grandfather raised cattle, the 72-year-old Sanchez has seen

mountain lions and coyotes kill cattle, elk and deer. He’s seen birds scavenge carcasses. He’s heard of thieves slaughtering livestock in the field for their meat. He can’t explain what he saw last month.”A lion will drag its kill. Coyotes rip and tear flesh. These were perfect cuts — like with a laser or like a scalpel. And what would take the waste — all the guts — and leave the nice, tender meat?” Sanchez says, as he nudges his old Ford through rutted trails, rosary beads swinging from his rearview mirror. “No tracks. No blood. No nothing. I got nothing to go by. They don’t leave no trace.”

Every rancher who has reported similar cattle deaths — and there have been at least eight such deaths in southern Colorado this year — uses the same description.

“They just stripped this one,” says Tom Miller, who in March was one of three ranchers near Trinidad who discovered mutilated cattle.

Cow raises the alarm

One morning, he went out to his concrete troughs to feed his herd of about 80 red and black Angus cows and calves. The herd was racing about. A cow that a week before had birthed a calf was bellowing, “raising all kind of devil,” Miller says.

There by the trough — past the locked gate a quarter-mile from U.S. 350 east of Hoehne — was the calf. Its front legs and torso were gone. Its back legs were hanging by hide to a shattered pelvis and a meatless backbone. Miller thought a pack of coyotes had torn into the calf the night before.

Then he saw the ears: sliced off the head in circular, surgical-like cuts. He noticed that there were no tracks. And no blood anywhere.

“If anyone can show me how this happened, I will believe them. I know it’s not coyotes, especially in one night. Only a human or something like that can cut the ears like that,” says Miller, a 72-year-old rancher who was raised on the prairie bordering the Purgatoire River.

“If it was done by people, they sure went out of their way to bother and confuse me. And really, why? It doesn’t make any sense.”

Mysteriously mangled

Colorado Brand Inspector Dennis Williams came out and looked at Miller’s calf. He lives next door; the calf would be the last of three strangely mutilated cattle that he would investigate in March of this year.

“I’ve heard about it. It was weird, to say the least. Totally unexplainable. To me, it looked like that calf had been dropped from a high distance, the way its hips were dislocated and all its broken bones,” Williams says.

That same month, ranchers had called Williams to grisly scenes northeast of Aguilar and west of Weston to investigate mysteriously mangled cattle that had been seen healthy the day before.

To add to the weirdness, Sanchez, Miller and Mike Duran, who found a sliced Red Angus cow near Weston in March, have all experienced similar mutilations before. Sanchez lost cows in 2006 and 1993, Miller in 1997 and 1980, and Duran in 2000 and 1995.

“It’s weird and unexplainable,” says Duran, who lost a healthy 27-year-old Red Angus cow on March 8, her udder and rear end removed with what he describes as “laser cuts, like when somebody cuts metal with a torch.”

Cops, like Williams and the ranchers, are stumped.

“We can’t come up with anything,” says Las Animas County sheriff’s Deputy Derek Navarette, who investigated the Miller and Duran calves.

“We’ve seen these before and they are all kind of the same. No one has ever explained it. Northern New Mexico has had some of these same cases, and in those cases they never got any further than we did.”

Predators ruled out

Chuck Zukowski of Colorado Springs investigated three of the eight mutilated cows in southern Colorado this year. The amateur UFO investigator and reserve deputy in El Paso County documents each scene, testing for radiation and scanning carcasses with ultraviolet light.

Despite his extraterrestrial inclinations, Zukowski’s studies — found on his ufonut.com website — fall short of concluding anything paranormal. He seems certain all the animals he studied were killed and drained before they were sliced, which explains the lack of blood found near the animals.

The way the tongues were sliced off in straight lines back behind the teeth indicates it is not a predator kill, he says.

“I’m looking for obvious things,” Zukowski says. “I don’t like to say aliens did it. There are just too many unknowns. I like to lean on human intervention until I actually see a UFO come down and take a cow.”

Sanchez is a salt-of-the-earth-type fellow who put three kids through college running cattle. Yet, he says he and his wife marveled at incandescent blue lights hovering over a ridge near his pastures in July and August. He declined to speculate about the lights.

“I just say the truth and that’s what I saw,” he says.

Duran, on the other hand, is willing to take the next step. He’s looked at it from every angle, he says. If it wasn’t human and wasn’t a predator, he says, there’s only one other option.

“I do believe it was UFOs. This universe is so big, a lot of people think we are the only ones here,” he says, declining to guess why aliens harbor such bloody disdain for bovines.

“I bet there is something out there.”

This last one is really worth the time to go to the site and check out the video, comments, map and additional photos.
I’d also advise interested readers to look at Linda Moulton Howe’s website
because she is the person who won an Emmy award for her investigative film on the subject in the past and there are many informative articles there on the subject if you scroll down the page.
Another person who has made interesting speculation into possible reasons for an interdimensional or extra-terrestrial visitor too is Carol Rainey in the book Sight Unseen: Science, UFO Invisibility and Transgenic Beings of which there is a short review on this weblog. If you think I’m being partial in this article to female investigators perhaps you are right. :-)

Two books I’ve recently finished are Sight Unseen: Science, UFO Invisibility and Transgenic Beings by Budd Hopkins and Carol Rainey and Walking Through Walls by Philip Smith. Both books are about different areas of the paranormal, but they have something else in common which is dear to my heart: the authors are artists and also deeply interested in anomalous events (just like me :-) ). It seems that having those interests in common are far from unusual.

Carol Rainey

In Sight Unseen, Hopkins (also a painter) and Rainey (also a filmmaker) explore some truly bizarre experiences a variety of people have had with purported aliens and hybrid alien/humans (transgenic beings). Budd Hopkins has spent many years researching the abduction phenomena and Carol Rainey adds much insight in terms of possible scientific theories which might explain some of the experiences. The story which stayed with me was that of “Mr. Paige”, an odd but gentle individual that came to stay with a family and had an unusual relationship with a child of that family. Was he not human? Hard to say, but very intriguing. I’ve been aware of very odd persons without auras, but are they aliens or transgenic beings? I believe that Jacques Vallee also made mention of Mr. Paige in one of his books.

Budd Hopkins

Walking Through Walls is the story of interior decorator/psychic healer Lew Smith from the perspective of his son Philip Smith, a painter. It gives a window into the world of a child and teenager growing up in Florida with a parent who is immersed in the paranormal. Smith’s writing style is breezy and sometimes very humorous. Especially valuable to me was his description of a session with spiritualist/psychic Sophie Busch. My grandmother often mentioned having gone to see Sophie Busch on several occasions but I hadn’t read of her in the literature before. Smith’s description added an extra dimension to my memories of my grandmother’s experiences as told to me.

Both books demand that the reader suspend disbelief and have an open mind. I think they are both worthwhile to be read by individuals who have a strong interest in the paranormal.
